Viney and Jones are trying very hard, which is positive. I firmly believe our only problem is structure. Goodwin has 3 years to sort that out. He better do it a lot quicker than that. Also, we need May, Lever, Lewis back like no man's business.

Who's making excuses? You're the one comparing Melbourne(!) to three of the best sides of all time, let alone this decade. We've been a terrible footy side for near on 6 months now. I saw it personally in Perth last September, and it hasn't gone away, regardless of the events of the preseason that happened between then and now.

Possibly the 3 greatest sides of all time, some of them taking the field nearly 20 years ago. Really relevant history there.

Any time this crap came out (we all knew it eventually would) is a bad time for the Club. In Round 3 after a dodgy start to the year is pretty much the best time it couldd come out. Much rather this than in finals break week 2020 after we've finished top of the ladder. Bring it. No one at the club is proud of that time, and almost everyone who made it happen is either dead or dead to footy. Do your worst, media muckrakers.

I would actually die if we got Jamie Elliott somehow. He is exactly what we need.

Anyone who saw either of our preseason games knew this was coming. We're going to be one of the easiest teams to beat this year. Bottom four looks likely, even though we might recover slightly by midyear and make a charge to the bottom reaches of the eight if we can tweak our gameplay and get Lever back.

What we should have done is not played a bonafide ruckman. Just tried to shark 2 of the best ruckmen going around rather than play an unfit replacement or a recently-hospitalised Gawn. Throw Frost to the wolves for all I care in a situation like that.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like this? I mean, it's objectively a great photo…but we don't deserve to see Gawny hold it until he wins it. I mean, it's like taking a photo of yourself sitting inside someone else's sweet car. Sure it's cool…but it's not yours. Yet.

Haven't seen anything to suggest we'll get near it this year at all. May looks slow and out of position constantly. Lucky it's just preseason but my expectations were shot to pieces on that day at Optus Stadium and they haven't recovered yet.
