A few things that are lost on people are the opportunitites that tanking presents... A rare chance for Warnock and Frawley to let other players how overworked they have been in the past two years. Newton gets to play a game of AFL. Ditto Dunn. Ditto Valenti. Ditto Johnson. Ditto Batram. Petterd and Grimes get a chance to show us they can be superb mids. Johnson gets a firecracker up his arse by being giving a challenge. Spencer shows he can beat players with as much experience as him - hands down. Miller and Bate getting a bit of freedom and fresh air in the guts.

I'm with you. They can blather on as much as they want, this will be over after the NM game. Lose that and we're sweet.
-
Where's your backbone? I never cared what the Eagles would do. I want two players in the top 5, now we are assured two in the top 3 if we lose this week. One more game and then its over. Hang in there...
-
He'll give you answer but he has to check with Buckley first. It's in the contract.
-
He got us to 29600 we he came in 2008 but I reckon about 1500 members signed up because of a certain schoolkid who will wear number 4 for many years, and is, according to mydee and others, ill gotten gain. And if mydee says, "no, we were crap last year, we deserved to finished last." We finished there because of list management that looked eerily similar to the things he derides - injury sensitivity, players in new positions, and youth over seasoned professionals.
-
Used to coach Collingwood. Now is a figurehead like Medvedev... Apparently he has 2 years 'in charge' and then will move on.
-
They are being fair dinkum. The benefits of finishing 4 and 18 instead of 5 and 17 are so obvious that any person in their position would be doing the same thing. Oh, and the reason we have 31 500 members: Jack Watts.
-
Won't happen. And even if it was tried - we have an army of high priced lawyers as supporters who would give their time to make sure it didn't happen.
-
Cheney will be here. One thing that was great was when Jackson tried to just pile thorugh Shane and, Valenti went 'no way, mate.' Stopped him dead in his tracks and then he walked off limping. Great moment.

Boy, am I glad the MFC aren't as shortsighted as you. His title isn't Match Day Coach of the MFC. He's coaching in the best intersets of the club. Oh, and we have been using the tactics of tanking throughout the last two years... So nuts to what you think...
-
You are trying to have your cake and eat it too. I won't let you, you have to give yourself up the hell that the rest of us are in. Experimentation is a tactic of tanking. If you are pro-experimentation, you are pro-tanking. Simple as that.

For me, this ends against NM. We win and the PP is gone. We lose and the PP is ours. Oh, and I believe you and others had far more faith in DB to do what he has done following the PA game. I thought he would buckle but he has more cojonies than I gave credit. Must be tough to stay true to the plan with a 6 and 34 record.

Goal scoring mid.

Oh, snap. Check mate. Game over. Oh, remembered another - Morton can't kick as well as Palmer and we should grabbed him instead at Pick 4.
-
If your tongue is not in your cheek, I would like to know what you think tanking is? Matty Warnock and Frawley forward was tanking, just because it may have some tangible benefits is a moot point - we were trying to minimise our chances of winning. Take comfort in the fact that the tactics of tanking have been used by Bailey since Rd 1 2008 - Garland and Weetra playing when they shouldn't have. There is a litany of other tactics that Bailey has tried with players over the 40 weeks and I listed them in another thread (can't be stuffed regurgitating now).
-
Nah. My comfort in what DB is doing comes from the fact that the tactics of tanking have been used since DB's first game in charge - playing Garland and Weetra. Nevermind the fact Garland gives YM wet dreams, at that time both boys were, in the eyes of 75% of supporters, delist material. DB is just stepping it up a notch in a vital three week period which culminates this weekend in the last tanking game. Then we can all get a little less tense and enjoy the final 3 weeks of the season.
-
Perhaps this 'tweet' from Jones could be used by Bailey as subterfuge to protect his plans; Matty Warnock has been preparing during training for stints in the forward line...
-
Sylvia, Morton, Moloney, and McLean would be the only ones pushing. It will be very hard to keep the first three out. Again, if NM turn up we can have all 3 in and still not be up to it. Richmond nearly screwed us like PA did. Why can't any of these teams we must lose to turn up on the day?
-
I never realised how hard it is to type when you are laughing hysterically... Whether or not Dunn continues his decent form of late, you have been wrong about so much, for so long that a thread like this is so undeserved it's bordering on narcissistic perversion. Newton can become a good AFL player... Jack Grimes has a fundamental flaw in his kicking... Anyone else have anymore gems from Freak?
-
I see what you're trying to say. And I agree totally. This is the most nuanced argument I have seen for a while. But, let me interject for one moment with this... Petterd!!! Maybe we are both right?
-
He certainly is making CC's claim that we would have taken him at 4 if Morton wasn't available INFINITELY more believable. He is exactly what we need - an inside/outside mid with a great kick (Oh, Freak - Haha) and great speed (against WCE he was clocked at a top speed of 33km/h, Priddis got up to 25km/h). The bonus is his leadership (and his love of the Dees). The bad is that he loves the Dees so much he decided to get Garry Lyon's back...
-
Who cares about Freo? 1 and 2 or 1 and 3? It's meaningless. The amount of times number 3 is better than 2 is well documented. It's a lottery with the best 18 year olds because you don't know which will be the best when they are 24. I just want two of them...
-
It will be touch and go for Valenti to get a spot on the list. Getting the PP would not help him though.
-
Unlike a few others who think as you do, you never stick around and back up your argument. You're just a sniper. And, if Mr Morton wanted to, he could reverse it and say the shame is yours for not taking into consideration the long term future of the footy club...

WE HAVE LOST 51 GAMES SINCE 2007. And, no-one deserves a PP. They need it, and the competition needs them to have it. We are just trying to abide by the system...
