  1. You know, I do enter in a lot of debates. Or 'word skirmishes' if you will. Win quite a few of them too. Thanks for noticing.
  2. We spent a $1m on MOPT to be there for 5 years? If this happens, and I say if because this is extremely preliminary, we will have paid 200k a year in rent in effect. Love the exploring, but just wish we could get this facilities rubbish sorted quickly. The excitement on this thread is not warranted, nothing has happened other than talk from a person who loves to hear himself talk. And you all know who I am talking about...
  3. If he is keen to keep it, fine. And Blewett was rubbish and you all know it.
  4. It's all about price. If he comes through the PSD, of course you'd take him.
  5. He is one of the best mids in the game. And will give a side competing at the top with 4 years of great service and leadership. His brother is the d!ckhead. Kane Cornes is a star of the competition and PA are putting him on the market to attract a top 10 pick.
  6. I don't know what everyone's problem is - he won't go unless its an effing good deal. Everyone is tradeable at the right price anyway, so don't take it personally.

    Pick 9

Warnock has another 6 or 7 years as a topline CHB. And we are not sick with big defenders; Rivers cannot play CHB, Martin is being groomed for back-up ruck/tall forward, Frawley will play FB, and Garland has the question mark of an injury that ruined Matt Egan's career. Pick 9 sounds great until you realise it's a lottery. Giving up proven a 25 year old CHB isn't the best idea.
  8. Watts, after the draft camp, was considered the equal of those other two. We saw a CHF as among the best players and we took Watts. Star mids are hard to find, star KPP are harder to find. I don't see Butcher as a star KPP in the making whereas Trengove screams 'elite' mid.
  9. Giving a club Pick 50-60 in this draft is akin to handing someone a spatula after the meat is cooked and served. There at the table and you walk in and say 'here is your spatula that you need for the cooking that is done.' I think only 50 kids will be taken in the ND this year. And Ebert for Bell is not going to happen. Kane Cornes would fetch a pick in the 4-9 area anyone is interested.

    Pick 9

Warnock is better than any defender they have, and Pick 9 this year is about Pick 14 in any other year so yeah they would do that and I don't think Pick 14 for Warnock is good for the Dees. I would not do it.
  11. Let me spy on the club's operations for a month and I can give you an appraisal of coaches, fitness blokes etc. Everyone sounds so uninformed and silly making judgements on things you cannot see. You can appraise a player, but a line coach? A part-time coach? BB? Santa Clause?

    Pick 9

Both of them by themselves would get Pick 9. Would not do it.

    Pick 9

Hey everyone!! You know what this means - it's going to be a bumper trade week!! And we are going to get Pick 9! Going to be AWESOME. I'll bring the trail-mix. Who else is bringing 'eats'?
  14. Of course they will. If we are 5 and 11, of course they will. Preparing properly for 2011. Some on here are over-reacting to the distaste of the last 6 or 7 weeks of the season. We will sacrifice games next year to develop players and play youth. It is going to happen, they are trying to win flags, not respect. They'll like us when we win...
  15. I going to make an argument and then I am going to cement that argument by refering to the awful Footy Classified and the stupid penultimate segment that lists 'calls' that no-one has ever 'called' and then have a go at this supposed 'caller.' I am a poor debater...
  16. I'm sorry, is this 2003? Bruce has always delivered helicopters, and he is constantly one of our best players. Top 3 in the Bluey I would say. He will not be 'on the out.'
  17. I just threw up a little... Can people stop posting that? It's nauseating.
  18. Next year is about winning? How about 'next year is about building a team to win a flag.' These are the decisions the FD have to make that will hurt our chances to win games in 2010 but are needed to win that flag: Watts over Miller/Newton Scully in from Rd 1 if fit. Trengove/Morabito, Blease, and Strauss given games over Bell, Dunn, and Batram. Martin as backup ruck to Spencer/Jamar/Meesen/PJ. Only one of those to be playing with Martin. Bruce, McDonald, and Green to play periphery roles. There are probably more, but these are the ones that scream at me.
  19. This is exactly the problem I foresee. Those that want Bailey to earn his new contract and leaving it till mid next year are not thinking this through. If we get a draw like this year and take out Richmond in round 4 and replace with Carlton we could play better football than this year and have one or two wins (or less) going into the QB clash. We would be seen to be regressing, the fans who say we had to wait are supposedly vindicated as Bailey is removed and a caretaker in his stead takes us to 6 wins in the remaining 10 games in the soft side of the draw. The only way to give Bailey a full 2010 is to give him 2011 right now. Welcome to the real world folks.
  20. Newton is the only AFL footballer that mispronounces 'Gym.' A gym? What's a gym? Some of you got it... I know you did...
  21. 48 isn't a footy number, it's more a Greg-Blewett's-best-score-in-Perth-number. 9 or 13.
  22. They kicked the the ball poorly and we have a fantastic backline. Our midfield was awful from go to woe, that is why I temper my enthusiasm. How about this? - Our forward line was extremely efficient, our backline was fantastic, and our midfield is lucky we are about to get Tom Scully. I think you have completely misread what I am saying. I am not talking about the ability to win games on field, but the fans ability to deal with reality. The confusion and seething anger on this site throughout the 2007 season was, in part, because the fans had readied themselves for a far better year than that ageing team could produce. If we get a hard draw to start the season and Bailey hasn't got this rumoured 1 year extension, we will shake our fists and wring our hands and force the club to make a decision based on unrealistic expectations. I have posted that we are a chance to win 12 games next year, but we are equally a chance to be 2 and 9 heading into the QB clash.
  23. I used to get excited by depth as well. But it's not about your 15-25 best players. It's all about your best 6 or 7 - the better they are, the better we will be.
  24. 1st bolded part - Stats rule? I'm saying that? The discrepancy is undeniable. We see the game through the lens of a MFC supporter, everything else is surreptitious to us. The Saints were poor, but at any stage they could, and would, blow us away. And they did. 2nd bolded part - BB59, we do care, otherwise you wouldn't be posting, nor I responding. Don't hide behind that "I don't care what you think" defence... I'm not indicting the club with the opinion that we are further back than those first 3 1/2 qtrs suggests. I am merely attempting to hold the reigns on expectations or else, half way through next year, this place is going to be 2007 all over again: Confusion, anger, and idiocy.
  25. If Butcher is as good a prospect as Trengove or Morabito then yes, take him at two. If he is not, don't take him. We need stars more than we need supposed 'balance.' (I say supposed balance because our midfield is in awful shape, much worse than the forward line. Bate, Watts, Jurrah, Sylvia, Petterd and Wonaeamirri will kick enough goals in the next 5 years. We need some blokes to get the pill and kick it properly to them.)
