  1. Then everyone had a poor season, and considering McLean is only competing for the Bluey against Melbourne players, he is a shoe-in for top 5.
  2. Shouldn't you do this by going through each games 'three word analysis' and go from there. I think there are some on here your weekly analysis wouldn't match.
  3. When you get challenged you hide behind a patronising tone as if to say to everyone else "how could anyone possibly disagree?" You are not convincing me at all about the motives of Bailey against St Kilda. They had 37 clearances to 19, they had 124 contested poss. to 91, they had 67 Inside 50s to 39, and they had 90 more possessions than us. But you account for this by saying that stats are not important, and that it all happened in the last 15 minutes. Must have been a busy 15 minutes. We were efficient in front of goals and they missed targets. As soon as they started to use the ball better, we drowned. We still have miles to go before we sleep...
  4. I'm not advocating free games, nor am I saying he cannot be dropped. What I am saying is that if his attitude is good and he is fit, I would much prefer a 10 possession 1 goal game from Watts than a 15 possession 2 goal game from Newton or Miller. He is the future, and the sooner we drop the pretense the better.
  5. McLean and 18 for Pick 6 is not the greatest deal for us. That one you have is abhorrent. We're not Fremantle.
  6. Jon Anderson (so take this with a grain of drunken salt) said on AW this morning that McNamara wants to go home and that we are keen to elevate McKenzie. My view is McNamara is gone if this is true and McKenzie should stay on the RL as he has another year to go.
  7. Hardly. Have a look at the stats, the Saints were toying with us and smashed us in every KPI that there is. They finally hit their targets in the last 15 mins and we were annihilated. As for the positional changes - Bailey couldn't do an effing thing on the field this year without it being a tactic of tanking. If people on here think that Jurrah playing wing is a laughable tactic of someone who doesn't want to win, I should alert these cynics that he will play FF in the future but when he is being mauled, they will throw him onto a wing and you might have a different view as to whether Bailey was tanking against a team that had won 19 games.
  8. No. He is our CHF in our flag tilt. (If he isn't please tell me who) We need to pump games into him, and if it is to the detriment of our win/loss record, well, so be it. I have already said that we could win 12 games next year, wtih a favourable draw, but I want to see our talent exposed to the AFL.
  9. Exactly. I don't want to finish 8th if it means we are sacrificing development toward 2012 and after. The clearest example is Miller/Newton over Watts. Both, arguable with Newton, would give more in 2010 than Watts, but neither should play if the decision is to leave out Watts. Scully should come in to, we need to pump games into our talent and push Bruce, Green and Macca into peripheral roles such as HBF, FP, and BP respectively.
  10. His last 6 weeks were solid. He will play BP and a little on ball and play most games.
  11. B - Bruce Frawley Rivers HB - McDonald Warnock Garland C - Davey Scully Morton HF - Sylvia Bate Watts FF - Green Jurrah Wonaeamirri R - Jamar, Grimes, Moloney I - McLean, Jones, Martin, Petterd E - Bennell Jetta Maric
  12. I don't like speculating on current players but if Nathan were keen to move and we agreed we could ask for a pick between 8 and 12 in this draft. Any other draft and it would be 12 and 18 using my rudimentary math. Jones and 18 might get 6 if Sydney are looking for ready made players.
  13. Every draft except 2009 has a full year block. That is just common sense. And the dates won't be changed back. And 2010 will just be another normal draft except the best 12 from a four month block have been taken by GC17. And can we put up a sticky. Because I am getting frustrated...
  14. No he doesn't. He said he needs to step up over the summer and finally do some work in the gym. Otherwise, he will be gone at the end of next year.
  15. Some on here would see a conspiracy if they woke up and they were out of cornflakes. Tanking against St Kilda?? What delusional arrogance. Get away from this nonsense. We are an awful team that might have, with a bit of luck, won 6 or 7 games. Lucky, Bailey and Co. have massive cajones and got us 4. Next year we will be better, but I don't want to win 11 games if it means Watts only plays half the year. He is the future, and I would sacrifice a 8th spot for 12th if it meant a full season for J Watts on a wing/HFF. Next year is still about development.
  16. I got to the part where you said you didn't particularly like James McDonald and my eyes glazed over. I don't see how any MFC supporter can not like Junior. Two Blueys and an AA selection... Just lost a little faith in humanity...

Maybe you shouldn't say this. Just a thought. Maybe you should look at the fact that we are so crap right now because our picks in 99 and 00 were taken away from us because we were found guilty of cheating. When I talk to Carlton supporters I mention the fact that they are very lucky to have a bloke prop them up, and I wonder when the drip will be pulled? And they mumble some jibberish and we all move on in life. Playing Frawley forward, and playing Jurrah on a wing isn't a hanging offence, I am very happy with where my head is on this and I don't care what Jon Ralph or anyone thinks of us.
  18. Grimes or Morton and 18 for Pick 5? In this weakened draft? You are going to far the other way. Jones would do it by himself. Almost.
  19. They will have to change the dates of eligibility again for the year after next. I doubt they will do that again. They will just give the priority over 12 like the GC gets. I don't know why you are asking this question two years out... You may be confusing the 'priority out of draft selection of 12 kids' with the 'dates of eligiblity' changes for this year.
  20. Pick 50 is pick 75 in a normal draft. If you want to know why - read my signature. I seriously doubt we will use pick 50.

You are betraying your preciousness here. I assume you are referring to PJ playing on that superstar Nathan Brown for 15 minutes, and Frawley playing forward for a quarter and a half, in a game we lost by a goal after (if it was after) the siren? Jeez, that moral high-ground is extremely slippery... We are crap, and we 'deserve' our picks.
  22. It is the easiest thing in the world to pick which talented 18 year olds will become better players than others. That is what I am gleaning from the nonsense in this thread.
  23. I agree he is ahead of others that are safe. But it isn't as simple as that - Valenti is a second year rookie, is has to be delisted from the RL or elevated by the end of this year. Those are the only two options. If the FD cannot find a spot for him he will go into the draft, and as CB has already stated, I hope a club looks very hard at him.
  24. Please explain this. And mention Brent's lack of worth as a Captain compared to others.
