@dazzledavey36I think that up until a few weeks ago - Sparrow had another frustrating season on the fringes so I can see where the smoke would come from. We are quickly getting to a point where we have a settled first choice midfield that is young enough to push out eager you eager young players that aren’t given a go. It will be a reality soon, perhaps not with Sparrow for 2022 but it is coming.

Then you can add the back up ruck Esava Ratugolea’s 14 goals. As a tall forward, there is more to one’s effectiveness than goals kicked and while I do think I would take Hawkins and Cameron over many duos - I think it is an immaterial argument ahead of Friday night. They are trying to tie up Lever, and they may do that but May will intercept if he can, Petty is a natural at it and taking grabs while he’s doing it (he sometimes tries too much but that is youth). I am more worried about a forward line that has to deal with a fleet of smalls that neutralise our aerial dominance and force our mids deeper to help out our backline to get the ball out of there. I am certainly not worried about Geelong’s forwardline - we are literally built to beat that setup.
  3. Sparrow has been on the fringes most of the year so I can understand this. The price of being a good team. The FD have done an amazing job keeping so many kids in the 22 this year.
  4. 11 prelims in 15 years and this place really would be Strawberry Fields…

Learnings are one thing - they are an old team playing a possession style against a force of Demon nature, hungry and young. They can learn all they like, as long we don’t allow them passage into the middle of the ground in transition and break even in stoppages - we will win and restore balance to the universe.
  6. Never mentioned he’s a Dees fan… Dont need to be Sherlock.

    Nah
  8. Goodwin very effusive in his praise of the leaders - and included the two with the podcast named after them. Also Viney is his favourite on field player. I think that is quite revealing, and should make many on here stop and think about some of the nonsense they send Jacks way.

We literally didn’t touch it. Smashed in the middle. It’s unsustainable IMO, but if Duckwood and DangerHand and Nick Minchin do that to us again and again and again and win then that will torment the dreams of CP, CO and JV for a long stretch of time. Just can’t see that type of dominance occurring again and changing the result.

Time to end it. For all the footy lovers in the world and all the hobbits in the shire.
  11. It depends how we play - if Geelong is a much better team and they beat us as we play our best - I can get it. I just don’t see how that can happen. We have had a year of little injury and excellent form - these years don’t come around often. The added benefit is no ESS 2000, BL2001-3, GEE2007-11, HAW12-15, RICH17-20… Such an opportunity
  12. Why so churlish? You sign off on all these posts with a passive aggressive aside of encouragement, but I don’t know who you’re kidding. Put up your massive concerns or complaints or put your dismissiveness to the side. Or keep posting this stuff on a forum and tell us to calm down as you get your reaction…

I love you Dr, but it is always the throwaway argument for blokes in trade discussions and usually not given the same weight for players we wish to keep! Jackson’s family is most definitely in WA…

Parents + GF > Brothers + Extended Just maths. But anything to buttress up a slim argument hey?
  17. Truth? Nothing is more subjective. If this is the bleating heart of a Bartlett acolyte; he was there long enough and his last year was inconsistent and strained especially with his comments toward Goodwin. He had a great tenure from a long way back, the furthest way back, and while he got help from the AFL. We all will thank him for his service and hoping for the success of Kate IS NOT to diminish those in the past by comparison. Only someone suffering from severe sour grapes would think that.

That’s how I have read it. Surely a process to a split board not so keen on Lyon will just be a humiliation for him. My question is if not Carlton - who would take Lyon given his perceived baggage from the alleged issue with the female staff member from Freo?? GC or bust.

Might need to change the title of this thread to Welcome to Demonland - Carlton Schadenfreude. What are they doing? Seriously laughable. A sham process to get a coach who is now over the sham and know they are left with another untried? Or a Scott? It really is great but wow.

You equate any movement of players as ‘destroying culture’ - that is a straw man argument made so stupid of course you can shut down that view. Of course, players come in and out but you need to listen to the respect that McDonald and ANB talk about that was given to them by the club as we pushed them out. But players know when players are pushed and players want to go. Angus is the best teammate on the field with his selfless nature, the way he embraces his teammates and the way he embraces a role that he is not too personally keen on. We would have to be careful in trying to ‘upgrade’ anyone and especially when it comes to players that I would consider leaders in the group.
  21. She. Offers. Nothing. What the eff is up your you-know-what? Not a fan of what the board did to Bartlett? Seriously, get it out of your system. It’s done.

That’s a good point, I should have said that I was not aware of the competition of which I won. I am fan of pedantry so I will allow this.
