  1. This is your month
  2. Interrupted season but effective. Bought into a role that sees little midfield time - great for him, he has a flag for it.
  3. Best halfback in the game in my eyes, best kick in the team and hard as a rock. Was great to see his mum singing the song - just a lovely totem to new Australia.
  4. Wonderful player that got the most out of himself and others around him. Obviously part of the renaissance of the club and should be revered for his joining the eras of success even if he didn’t see the ultimate in either.
  5. Yes, Goodwin is the star of the show in Burgess’s mind. Loved how he spoke about the fact that he was trusted to do his job and not questioned. My biggest takeaway had more to do with the EPL having a massive gap in the areas that Goodwin is so great at. If I was to advise any of the rich people, or in the case of Newcastle United, flagrant murderers who own EPL clubs - it would be this organisational culture that is where their deficiencies seem to lie.
  6. @Mydeethe Hawks are too consumed by hubris to alter behaviour. Especially if suggested by a Melbourne person.
  7. This ‘flat out before finals’ or ‘large training loads before finals’ has been so often repeated on here without a source. From what I can tell from what the players say and Goodwin and what Burgess says in that pod, we just train hard all the time. And we did the same thing during our earned ‘bye’ weeks in the finals. Goodwin just has a premium on training intensity and valuing every session and the players look to have bought into it. The Petracca mention about his 2020 pre-season being a stand out and then everyone came up to his level in 2021 pre-season was indicative of that buy in.
  8. That was great, made me go back and listen to his ‘time at Arsenal’ pod and wow, he doesn’t go into specifics but he was set up to fail. So happy we had him for as long as we did and he loved his time at the club. Big part of why the team excelled and why our best players were at their peak.
  9. Did you listen to the podcast?
  10. Umm, that sub money helps Andy keep the place going. I don’t think the ad revenue is that much really. And ads these days - unless you have a VPN - is you get ads for things that reflect what you google or search for in FB and the like… Just sayin’
  11. I don’t think you are following - Gawn and few of the mids have talked about Burgess getting them all to points beyond what they had been at and beyond what other professionals around the league got to in terms of their power running and aerobic capacity. That doesn’t mean we were ‘unprofessional’ during our run in 2018. It is also helped by the ages of our most impactful players all being in their prime years.
  12. Give me a freaking break: Oh Wells is dangerous alright... Barrett should just give himself a week off if he doesn't have anything to write... Sliding Doors: IF you sack some people ... THEN (afl.com.au)
  13. I wouldn’t be surprised. Only a few list spots left to confirm and we may want to draft in someone in his stead.
  14. There’s a difference between being ‘fit’ and being able to do with your body what Burgess says you can do with your body…
  15. Just confirming Constable as a failed pick and has been delisted, and of course Clark traded.
  16. Cool your jets. Garry literally called in to his own radio show and mentioned that he spoke to Jackson’s parents and they said they were coming over to Melbourne to live and he said “maybe not right now” coz there’s a pandemic on. That’s it. End of story. Film it. Show it every Christmas.
  17. Bit different for TMac in that we had this discussion with him and encouraged him to find somewhere to go. Hawks just told them they were shopping them and entered into negotiations with teams they didn’t want to go to which is a waste of time for all involved, especially GWS.
  18. Sam McLure went easy on Kennett on Sportsday a few nights ago, wasn’t the right time and place but he was trapping him in his own hubris. Kennett alluded to him not talking to the FD when he sent the email to members claiming their fav players are getting nixed. Then how did you know they were getting traded you dill? And the best part; “we believe we will be pushing for a flag again in 2 to 3 years”… lol, yeah ok, whatever you think buddy.
  19. I think the best part is that he has done this without the pressure that would have built up in 2 years with that contract and our drought and his consistency. But he slayed all those dragons and now he is ready for the real final season of GoT where we kill everybody. No, it will be satisfying…
  20. Hang on now. He was being facetious when BT was doing live on air genetic experiments to cross Daicos and Martin to get Petracca. And instead of saying “Brian, shut the [censored] up” he said “decent player.”
  21. And now they have tried and failed to move Luke Breust. https://www.afl.com.au/news/684092 Classic case of, again, entertaining deals when the player doesn’t want to go to the team you’re dealing with. Kennett can obfuscate and run away from his actions but the Hawks want to move their senior players on, but, have not, and do not want be up front with them and actively get them to go. Its a perfect mess they will see disgruntled senior players stick around a club that they know doesn’t want them. Lovely.
  22. I think, fundamentally, you don't respect Dunstan as a player. You can do that, but I think you're wrong and I am happy he is there to back up our flag defence.
  23. Have a look at our contract status: Petracca, Viney, Gawn, Salem, Lever, Langdon, May, Harmes, Brown, and TMac all taken care of. Jackson, Oliver (up in 23), Fritsch, Pickett, Petty and Brayshaw are all that’s left in terms of our stars to A grade talents. Jackson easily the 2nd most important behind Oliver.
  24. If we had room for Cerra in the cap then we have room to front end a few deals and get some years on the end of Jackson, Oliver, Pickett et al
