  1. Fair enough. I do place a huge value on culture, as clubs are member driven not for profit organisations, and I do think they have a significant role to play in society. I'm proud of the culture developed at Melbourne, I certainly wouldn't want to have a loose cannon jeopardise it.
  2. Exactly. I'm at the stage of questioning the values of some of the Demonlander posters for defending this DH.
  3. In the last few years at Collingwood - - Allegations of racism resulting in the departure of the President and Coach, and the "Do Better" report - Key member of their cheer squad charged with pedophilia - Members of their AFLW squad complaining about the club's inaction over De Goey - De Goey I don't give a rats if they've won 8 in a row. If Melbourne signs up De Goey they will lose me as a member, and I've been a member for 37 years. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. I'd like to think our club has standards. We can do better culturally than signing up DHs like De Goey.
  4. I've never sexually assaulted anyone if that's what you mean.
  5. They should have sacked him when he was first charged with the 2015 sexual assault. I'm surprised he wasn't sacked after New York. The fact after Bali they still haven't sacked him is endemic of the cultural cancer at Collingwood, where players in their AFLW program campaigned for the club to do something about it and were ignored. No thanks. Steer clear.
  6. Let's see - do we want a player who is a serial [censored] with no respect for anyone but himself? Who has blown chance after chance whilst acting like a substandard human being? Who has been accused on multiple occasions of sexual assault or harassment of women? Big fat NO!
  7. NOOOOOOO!!! Not Macca!😥
  8. I went the predictable route this round for tipping: Bulldogs Pies Brisbane Richmond Geelong Freo Hawks Melbourne Gold Coast. Of course I want Adelaide and Sydney to win, but I also want to win the tipping at work - I'm only one tip off the leader and coming equal second at the moment!! Last year I won it, so the pressure is on!
  9. Just ordered my copy. Hope it comes quick, I need a new book to read for pleasure instead of work!
  10. From 2014, 2015 and 2016. From the days when Melbourne were pretty crap.
  11. And believe it or not I have a 12" single version of Come on Demons that's been autographed by the great man himself, Jimmy Stynes.
  12. It's not in Darwin, it's in Alice Springs. Personally I love the fact the club has developed such close ties with the Santa Teresa community, it reminds us that as a not for profit organisation there are commitments to the community being met.
  13. 45 rpm I've kept all my vinyl from my wayward 80s teenage years, including LPs, EPs, 12" and 7" singles.
  14. That’s Ryan, we think he’s a legend, too. And he is. He and Sophie run the cheer squad.
  15. A whole year of banner making, love it!!
  16. Given the spirit of the OP and a couple of others posting on this thread, I thought I’d post this as a way of showing how other cheer squads see us in the Demon Army. If our own supporters don’t see our value at least other supporters do…
  17. What I loved about last night - it was clearly a statement win. Not only for the rest of the league but also for Melbourne. Yes, we started the year with 10 straight wins, but apart from the GWS game, none of them were what I would call Melbourne in its form. They looked like they were coasting, barely getting out of second gear. I wasn't necessarily worried, though because it's a long season, and it needs to be treated like a marathon, not a sprint. Then we lost to Freo. Again, not worried, it was the loss the team needed to have, as a reality check. The Sydney loss, though, was frustrating, because they could have played so much better. The Collingwood game? That one left me despondent. But last night was a return to the form of 2021. They didn't just win, they crushed. That was a statement win.
  18. I noticed on Twitter last night there were Herald Sun journos whipping up a frenzy amongst the Collingwood/Richmond/Carlton bogans about "low crowd". We nearly doubled Richmond's crowd against Port Adelaide, and still they're sinking the slipper. I've had a look at the crowds on Thursday nights this year, last night's crowd was the third highest this year, the two games beating last night being the two Richmond v Carlton game. It was also the largest Thursday night crowd involving an interstate team. In short I'm at the stage of saying suck [censored], media.
  19. So you don't have a problem with him pulling down a woman's top? I'm not convinced it was consensual at the time, given her reaction in the video.
  20. What about Richmond in 2017?
  21. Yeh, how dare people be offended by misogyny and representations of objectification of women. I mean, are you serious? This guy has had a past history of charges against him for sexual abuse, harassment, etc, are you trying to say you have no problem with that?
  22. No shueys when we win the grand final, either!
  23. If you had a choice between Darling and Jackson, what would you choose? I can't see Melbourne accepting any of those options.
  24. Melbourne's price is going to be high. Does either WCE or Freo have the currency? Does Freo have room in their salary cap? All valid questions.
  25. I don't care who it is. We show them we're better than them by not lowering to their standards. I don't boo at the football. And no, the cheer squad don't boo when they're lining up for a goal, we make noises and wave flags and floggers to try to distract.
