  1. What about Richmond in 2017?
  2. Yeh, how dare people be offended by misogyny and representations of objectification of women. I mean, are you serious? This guy has had a past history of charges against him for sexual abuse, harassment, etc, are you trying to say you have no problem with that?
  3. No shueys when we win the grand final, either!
  4. If you had a choice between Darling and Jackson, what would you choose? I can't see Melbourne accepting any of those options.
  5. Melbourne's price is going to be high. Does either WCE or Freo have the currency? Does Freo have room in their salary cap? All valid questions.
  6. I don't care who it is. We show them we're better than them by not lowering to their standards. I don't boo at the football. And no, the cheer squad don't boo when they're lining up for a goal, we make noises and wave flags and floggers to try to distract.
  7. I don't boo at the football. I choose not to lower myself to nuftie level. And yes, I'm a member of the cheer squad. We're better than those idiots.
  8. I actually had a nuftie Collingwood supporter try to convince me on social media that it was actually Melbourne fans booing Oliver. WTF??? But you're right, they are a special breed of filth.
  9. My question is, why would WCE want to sacrifice what would essentially be a range of early round draft pics to get Jackson, when it would mean sacrificing a rebuilt of the team? Melbourne would want a fair bit of compensation for Dogga, which I'm not convince WCE would be in a position to give up, given the dire state of their list.
  10. Yeh, they look like they really hate each other, don't they!! In all seriousness, can't wait to see how Disco goes!! That video is awesome, love it.

Our crowds have increased, actually. But never mind facts getting in the way of your gripe. Are you really a Melbourne supporter or someone who just wants to pick [censored] regardless of the facts? Melbourne are averaging around 36,000 per game this year, putting us 5th on the tally of attendance, and is certainly an increase in attendance from previous recent years. The four clubs above us on the tally have significantly more members than Melbourne. If you were to look at attendance per membership, Melbourne is actually on top. By the way I have been to all games this year bar two, the Port Adelaide game in Adelaide and the West Coast Eagles game in Perth. So don't assume anything about whether I'm going to the games or not. But while we're at it, let's address some of your points: a) And? Our attendance is increased, as has our membership. b) Again, pro rata to our membership, supporters have increased. c) That's crap, our attendance has increased. d) How are they different to any other clubs for their non-attendance? Attendance is low across the whole board. e) How is rain not a pathetic excuse for Hawthorn/Collingwood if you say it's pathetic for Melbourne? It rained on Saturday night, and it was 4 degrees. Double standards much? f) Essendon have about 30,000 more members than Melbourne. Strange argument. g) Huh? I've been at all the Melbourne based games, and the Gold Coast game where we outnumbered GCS supporters. What am I supposed to be defending myself against? h) WTF are you on about??? i) We are there to support. You're clearly not, you're picking [censored] at other supporters. j) That's been the case for 30 years, what's your point? Where have I ever used that as an "excuse"? Perhaps get off your high horse and stop being a [censored].
  12. I'm a little bit tired of people criticising Melbourne's attendance.

really beautiful. I managed to get myself the Narrm scarf, beanie, hoodie and pins. Very happy with my Narrm merch!
  14. I had a similar experience at the Essendon game this year. I am a member of the Demon Army, I was doing my bit to cheer loudly and wave flags, and had a Melbourne supporter from the GA bay next to us physically manhandle me by grabbing me on the shoulder, telling me to stop waving the (insert f word here) flag down. He didn't take to kindly to me saying to him why is he sitting next to the cheer squad if he doesn't like flags. This is what we cop from fellow Melbourne supporters.....

What [censored] me about this whole debate is that the attendances are down across the board but the focus is purely on Melbourne, even though we have significantly less members than clubs like Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, yet Melbourne are still 5th on the tally for attendance. 5th out of 18. No one is criticising Collingwood and Hawthorn for their pathetic 42,000 on the MCG on Sunday afternoon, no one is criticising Carlton for 26,000 against Adelaide at Marvel a couple of weeks ago.
  16. If people are stupid enough to not think this is ridiculous, then that's their problem.
  17. Big deal, it's not a punishment. All players do community programs through their community partners as part of their contracts.
  18. Same. I remember having a conversation with a friend of mine in Perth, who asked me, how is it possible to have so many clubs in one city without everyone wanting to kill each other? I think that's the great thing about the footy culture in Victoria, you can talk jovially about football with supporters from other clubs and it's mostly tongue in cheek ribbing. In Perth the opposing supporters of WCE and Freo seem to really hate each other, and I get the impression it's the same in South Australia. I look at my office, and there are St Kilda supporters, an Essendon supporter, a Richmond supporter, a fellow Melbourne supporter, we all are able to talk about football in a fun, respectful way. In fact one of the St Kilda supporters in my office and I have a thing we we will buy each other merchandise and decorate each other's desks. I put some St Kilda flags around his desk earlier this year when he was on long service leave so he came back to a nice surprise, he came back with a Gawny bobble head and some vintage VFL cards from the 80s.
  19. Oh, no doubt about that, but it's still good :)
  20. Just wanted to share with everyone a short story from last week's loss against Freo. I was on my way to Richmond Station, and I happened to pass a Freo supporter. She mentioned to me, "I hope you're not too upset with that loss." and I replied with "Freo did really well, you deserved that win." She mentioned to me that after that night, she was really impressed by Melbourne supporters. She said after the final siren, heaps of Melbourne supporters around her offered their hands to shake and said "well done". She though Melbourne supporters were really nice, and that she wasn't used to that kind of response from opposing supporters - "Usually in Perth, supporters yell abuse, but after tonight I think Melbourne's my second favourite team simply because of people like you, being really nice about losing," citing teams like Essendon, Collingwood and in particular West Coast as the worst. She said it made her trip to Melbourne for the game memorable. I do think it's an important element of us as supporters. We don't want to be seen as d-heads, and if we're gaining that kind of reputation, that can only be a good thing.
  21. So it's shot up by 500 in 2 days? That's ace!!
  22. Sorry to be pedantic, but the top 8 system didn't start until 2000 :) in 1994 they went to a top 6 (prior to that it was a top 5 for a period of time after much of the competition it being a top 4).
  23. Pretty much :)
