  1. You're spot on there. From my understanding, Tayla struggled with the lockdowns given her family were in another state, and she approached Carlton for support, surprised she didn't get much, other than "Why aren't you playing well?" To be fair it's hard to perform at your best when mental health is struggling. She was quite surprised by the amount of money Carlton claimed she was asking for (she didn't ask for that at all) and she told me herself, she didn't make the decision to leave Carlton, they effectively delisted her, which left her absolutely distraught. It does upset her how she's been completely misrepresented. She is nothing like she's been portrayed in the media. All she wants to do is enjoy playing footy with her mates. Lisa, her mum, and I were talking about this on Saturday night. She told me that if she had it her way, she would have played out her entire career at Melbourne, because she as a mother loved the vibe from Melbourne from the exhibition games, but ultimately it was Tayla's decision to initially play for Brisbane (which I understand, it's her home town) and then Carlton. She's thrilled she's at Melbourne, and getting so much support from the club. You can see she's much happier, and playing her best footy.
  2. The players are so approachable. I can't imagine the type of interactions with the men that we've been able to enjoy with the women. It's not some exclusive club, it's a matter of going to the games and supporting them. They love it just as much as we do. It's the girls who make the decision to turn up to things like banner making, even non playing players helping out on match days holding the banner up, etc.
  3. I asked Daisy at the Best and Fairest, "Burning question for you, Daisy. Did Sylvie get her face painted?" She laughed and said yes, she did, followed up with "Gotta love three year olds!!"
  4. Harris came to Melbourne on the base wage scale. She didn't care how much she was being paid, she just wanted to play football. I do think she deserves to be on a higher tier than that, though!
  5. I know I'd screamed myself hoarse by 3/4 time! There was definitely plenty of Demon Spirit at the grand final, loved it! Even the humid weather was enjoyable!
  6. It's on the corner of Punt Road and Swan Street, really accessible. It's actually a really short walk from Richmond Station. I'm leaving the car at home and getting the train there. The Number 70 tram also goes right past the oval, on Swan St.
  7. Be sure to ask permission to borrow other people's children, otherwise it could be construed as kidnapping :)
  8. It was there yesterday, it was up to $1500
  9. It's an even longer trek to Fremantle!
  10. I had to think who you meant there, then I realised you mean Alyssa Bannan!
  11. Kate Roffey sat with the Demon Army, and next to the Ruby Demons, throughout the second half of the match, and she joined in with us at the final siren while we screamed, cheered, did the whole ugly crying thing, before she went off to join the team on the ground. She is a true leader of the club, and is just as passionate as any of us are.
  12. The lack of shelter was an issue. Ben Brown apparently felt sick with sunstroke.
  13. Interesting article on SEN from Kate Roffey. She reckons the play was dictated by the fact the ground had no bounce. In the training session they discovered this, and the girls were instructed, "don't bounce the ball". This completely took out the running aspect of the game, and, according to Roffey, a reason she thinks the game was so low scoring.
  14. I see meeeeeeee!!! My arm is around Daisy :)
  15. Her family, her partner, etc are all in Greenvale. Apart from a friend who works at Fremantle that's cited in the article, she has no ties in WA.
  16. I’m smelling BS on this. Only 1 media outlet reporting this. She’s from the north western suburbs, her family and her partner are here in Melbourne, and she was telling me last night how much she loves the Demons. She bleeds red and blue.
  17. If you're thin skinned then we all are. It's certainly been noticeable. In fact it's blatantly obvious.
  18. Are Brisbane favourites because they're a better team, or because the reportage of the media and the AFL been skewed so acutely against us?
  19. Just had a quick scour through the AFLW's social media. On the last 2 days on their Facebook, they posted 12 articles about Brisbane, 2 about Melbourne. In fact if you look at the most recent backwards, you have to scroll through 10 articles about Brisbane before you see any mention of Melbourne whatsoever. Of the two articles about Mebourne, one was whether Daisy Pearce will retire after the grand final, the other is about Tayla Harris' shoulder. Yet it's article after article about how Brisbane will be unbeatable. Clearly Brisbane is the AFLW's preferred premiers.
  20. Not true. According to this article, to be eligible you had to be 22 or under for the entirety of the season. She turned 22 in September, making her eligible. https://www.womens.afl/news/114399/22under22-squad-lions-lead-the-way-three-in-line-for-fourth-selection
  21. Apart from Season 6 of AFLW where we lost the GF to Crows at Adelaide Oval.
  22. You do realise Cotton On do all the apparel for all AFLW teams including media tops, playing guernsey, shorts, training gear, etc, don't you?
  23. How did Liv Purcell finish the B&F with 16 votes, be name All Australian, but be omitted from the 22 Under 22??? Beggars belief.
  24. OMG, WCW, I had no idea that happened! I wound up sitting with the Ruby Dees on Saturday, I didn't see that happen to you. I'm so sorry :(. Hope you're okay. I'll give you an extra big hug on Thursday
  25. Hi everyone You may recall I made a video last year leading up to the men playing in the Grand Final. Well, I've made one now for the women. Hope you enjoy it!! Kat
