  1. I don't think I could hack another season of hubs. 2020 was clearly the worst football season in living memory. If the borders are still closed to Victorians by March, would they look at hubbing a few interstate sides in VIC so the MCG and Marvel can be used in front of small Vic crowds.
  2. Wonder if Burgo can work from home? All us yobbos have done it this year.
  3. Absolutely no way Oliver goes to Carlton next year. Essendon will want Carlton's next 10 first round draft picks for Saad, so what can Carlton offer us? Cripps, McKay? Lucky Oliver's contracted.
  4. There's no way Oliver will be traded even if he wants out. He's contracted and we'll rightfully ask for the world (like Essendon did with Daniher) and Carlton will give us bugger all in return. It's next year I'm worried about, particularly if we miss finals. As for Oliver being rumored to be upset about his 5th place finish in the B&F, perhaps he should undertake a bit of self-analysis and remember those woeful and lazy kicks that creeped into his game this year. The Richmond loss comes to mind when we had a run on with 2 minutes left and there were numerous other examples that would've cost him a couple of places on the leader board.
  5. I like this quote: “I’m looking forward to coming back next year and really driving all the forwards to hopefully be one of the better forward groups in the comp and ultimately get some team success.”
  6. Speaking of St Kilda, who has the better list? Melbourne or St Kilda?
  7. The stats would indicate you’re correct. Only Hawkins, Dixon, Josh Kennedy, Tom Lynch, Charlie Cameron, Papley and Ben King had more scoring shots on goal than Fritsch. He kicked 37.28 in his first 2 seasons so you’d expect his accuracy to improve next year. Arguably a more important signing than Viney given his age profile, upside, dearth of forward options and the potential headaches he poses for the opposition.
  8. Agree 100%. I’ve never seen a team such as Brisbane get a red carpet entry to a grand final. They’ve left QLD twice this year FCS - two massive trips from Brisbane to Sydney. I can’t take this season seriously with all the rules and fixturing made up on the run - particular West Coast and Collingwood being made to quarantine in WA when they had 2 perfectly suitable venues in QLD with no quarantine requirements. Add in the fact that we’re probably the only league/sport in the world to shorten its games this year.
  9. I was surprised too. Jackson played 3 less games and only played well against the bottom 4 sides. Rivers played a brilliant game against GWS in a mini elimination prime time Saturday night game, including kicking the sealer.
  10. Yeah no doubt WC will be into him. Give the boy a long contract please. Will be the best player out of he, Kozi and Jackson.
  11. Yeah I reckon he had a few just quietly. Still scratching my head as to why he’s actually up there given that his employers in Fox Footy and Channel 9 aren’t broadcasting the finals.
  12. We’re you at the game mate? I only have the Queens Birthday Monday 5pm CH 7 replay to remember that game. As a youngster back then it felt like winning a mini grand final - beating a team at the height of their powers.
  13. 10.9.69 to 8.6.54 Horribly irrelevant fact but that was the exact score that we beat Hawthorn in June 1989 out at Princes Park. Massive win by the boys at the time.
  14. Yep I recall that article 8 or so weeks ago. Wonder what’s the progression with the contract status?
  15. I hope we’re not breaking the bank in re-signing Jack. We need to put some many aside to retain Fritsch. He’ll kick 35 goals next year and was probably in the top 6 or 7 in the league in terms of shots on goal this year.
  16. I thought he started the year really well for Hawthorn playing mistake free footy, but slowly got worse as the year and losses went on for Hawthorn. Our defence is our best unit so it was neither here nor there that he’s no longer with us. Having said that, is Lever that much better than Frost? I think we can say he’s comfortably better than O Mac.
  17. Just listening to Edmund and Dwayne Russell on SEN. They both reckon he’s got a few years left in the tank at 32. Hope they’re right.
  18. His kicking’s been woeful across his career but this year they were surprisingly crisp by his un-lofty standards. If there’s a choice between keeping Hannan and ANB I’d be choosing the latter.
  19. Thought he showed a bit late in the year. Also had the kicking radar on this year. Obvously wouldn’t mind if he goes if it’s a part of the bigger picture of addressing our key needs.
  20. He does go missing way too often but he’s a natural goal kicker and we don’t have too many of that ilk. His goal kicking talents were on display last week and other clubs would’ve taken notice. I’d keep him ahead of other inconsistent players such as Hannan, but concede that we’ll probably have another Kent situation where another club offers him a 3 year deal versus our 1 year offer.
  21. Started the year like an absolute rocket at Casey Fields with a 38 possession 3 goal game and never looked back. As someone else mentioned, you just know he’ll nail that 55 metre set shot for goal. Can’t wait to see him live at the G next year!
  22. I think Polec was out the door at North the minute he wore another club's jumper earlier in the year.
  23. How would you describe him? He just looks so casual out there. Never gets excited or emotional after kicking a goal.
  24. I have to agree. Viney is in no way a crisp public speaker but his speech was very sincere and thoughtful. He's clearly highly valued by the coaches as he consistently finishes top 3 in the 'Bluey'.
  25. Must have voted the house down in some of those mid season games as he was invisible in the last 4 games as well as missing the first 5.
