We all know how hard it is to win a game at the Cats' home ground, GMHBA Stadium. Before yesterday, Freo had beaten the Cats there twice—by3 points in 2022 and by7 in 2023. Clearly, the Cats didn’t want to lose to Freo at home again. I believe they made special preparations for the game, aiming to put much more pressure on Freo. And it worked. One key indicator was the number of tackles they made—58 by halftime and 89 by the end. Freo wasn’t ready for that level of pressure. Unfortunately, we lost Gus and Nibbla, and I really missed them. Gus was one of our major tacklers (along with Viney), and Nibbla was strong in that area too. A good tackle can directly or indirectly cause a turnover; some players excel at it, while others don’t. I hope we can develop a couple of new players into top tacklers in the near future. Go Dees, Go newbies!
  3. To our players: please avoid sending low balls to Petty. To Petty: If a low ball comes your way, don't try to catch it with your hands. Use another part of your body to control it, resulting in a loose ball or a stoppage situation. You've had three lessons already, we need you to stay healthy. Go Dees!
  4. A very warm welcome, Tom Fullarton, to MFC â˜ș With summer just around the corner, I’m sure you’ll feel right at home here. I’m aware of your impressive basketball background, and I can’t wait to see you in action for the Dees on the footy field. As a talented young man, I have no doubt you have a bright future ahead of you! Relative information: Tom Fullarton 24yo, 2.00m tall, 92 kg. A shooting guard. He was the captain of the Australia 2016 under-17 basketball world cup squad. Luke Jeckson 22yo, 2.00m tall, 100 kg. A center or a power forward. He was a member of the Australia 2018 under-17 basketball world cup squad. Christian Petracca 27yo, 1.86m tall, 96 kg. A small forward(?). He was a member of the Australia 2012 under-17 basketball world cup squad.

From lions.com.au: Premiership Pride: Jonathan Brown 2003 Grand Final

Following the first centre bounce for the afternoon, Browny was collected by Collingwood’s Scott Burns in the face and immediately fell to the ground. He spoke at length to Lions TV, as part of the Premiership Pride series, about this defining moment so early in the game. “I got to my feet and thought, geez this isn’t part of the script,” he said. Bronwy was integral to the Lions’ game plan for a Lions victory that afternoon. After the hit, he vaguely remembers talking to the team doctor but admittingly was frazzled. He welcomed halftime, as his wobbly legs were about to give way. “It was nice just to have a seat at half time,” he says. The Lions’ medical staff took care of him but admits, by today’s concussion standards, he may not have been allowed to play on.
  7. GUS has played some good footy since probably Rd17. I'd like to see how many votes he might have received from the umpires. Here is an old article from Fox Sports: Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw finds the lighter side to his Brownlow Medal snub MELBOURNE onballer Angus Brayshaw has cheekily thanked the AFL after his stunning third place in the 2018 Brownlow Medal. Brayshaw was not among the five Demons players who were invited to Monday night’s black tie function. Instead, Brayshaw watched the TV in a T-shirt as he polled 21 votes, only seven short of Hawthorn winner Tom Mitchell, while Collingwood onballer Steele Sidebottom was second on 24. Brayshaw then went on Instagram, posting a photo of himself kissing a fake medal.
  8. The pies will give their final crack in the 3rd quarter, but GWS will smile in the end of the game. Go Giants!
  9. They tried hard.
  10. Good on you, GWS!
  11. Ok, Pie did not get much rewards from their output, GWS will get their turn in the 2nd half.
  12. All GWS need to do is to be able to settle down in the 1st 10 minutes. Knowing their mid is one class above Pie's, forward and back line are as good as pie's if not better. Go GWS!
  13. I’d say this time it's not a hope for our coach penal to do it, but a strong demand for them to do it if they had no intention to. Despite our loss in these two games, there's a lot to learn from them. In my opinion, the three finals matches we participated in the finals series in 2021 didn't pose much of a strong challenge because we were too good. We have our weaknesses and shortcomings, both among the players and the coaches, which haven't been exposed at crucial times or, when exposed, didn't have a significant impact and didn't receive much attention. In the last two minutes of Carlton's game, to be precise, 43 seconds between Lever’s mark and Acre’s goal, some of our weaknesses and shortcomings were exposed big time, and Carlton seized the opportunity, scored, and won the game. Thank God, that wasn't the GF, or I'd be furious. I'll discuss these 43 seconds and other issues in detail next month.

You were guessing, weren’t you? Well, the correct answer is: My thank you is sincere. I truly need this type of internal information to make better judgments. There is also a factor that affects my expression in Demonland. For instance, in the POSTGAME: RD24 VS SYDNEY thread, I wrote: ”To Brayshaw, you have been playing excellent footy for 6-7 weeks now, have a good break, see you in the QF”. I was waiting for a big game from GUS in the QF, but then he was knocked out cold less than 10 minutes into the game

Thank you, WCW. We really need you and your reliable sources.
  16. I was really enjoying watching the GWS vs PA game last night. Now I want GWS to knock Collingwood out of the finals series; I believe they will. However, after the GF, I’ll immediately view GWS as our primary enemy and Carlton as our 2ncondary enemy for our team. These two teams will be the main hurdles between us and the flag next year. We have a significant challenge ahead of us.
  17. Let’s take a look at the reactions following the tribunal's verdict
Eddie Mcguire: “Justice has been done”. Donald Trump: “Think of that: from within is worse than without.” I'm in agreement with Donald Trump in this instance.
  18.

But according to Sheahan – a long-time Demons fan – Goodwin had full faith in his team’s flag prospects from all the way back in the pre-season. “We were in the pub in Sorrento in March. Simon said to me ‘are you playing golf?’ I said ‘yeah, you’ll be playing soon when you get the [censored].’ He said ‘Nah, I’m too busy
if we don’t have any serious injuries this year, we’ll win it (the premiership),’” Sheahan revealed. “I said ‘are you serious?’ He said ‘I’m dead serious.’ So his view at that time was we’re ready and they’ve played accordingly.” Based on the story from Fox Footy, I must say Goodwin was, at least, a one-year genius for the year 2021. Yes, Goodwin was a dual Premiership player, but he had never coached a team to win a Premiership before that. He had made that declaration, and he delivered. Goodwin secured a two-year contract extension last month, which means he'll be coaching for three more seasons. I hope he can bring us one more flag during this period.

No, cos we had Luke Jackson back then. Can you find another Dogga for us?

GWS is one class above PA. In my view, I consider Pies, PA, and Syd to be on a similar level, while Melb, Carlton and Bris are better than them. GWS should beat the Pies comfortably next week, and the umpires won't be able to help the Pies much. I wouldn't be surprised if GWS won the Premiership.

We need to lead as least by 7 points, in case umpires help them with one goal in the end.

Not yet. Our contest possessions was 42+45=87, Carlton was 39+31=71, a good sign for us. Our 87 is very high number, see if we can keep it that way.

To Kozzie, your mistake was not good, you let your team down.
