2022 Membership
I chose scarf too, only reason is if we win another premiership it become a bit of a collectors item (no $ value, just emotional value). I'll be wearing my 2021 scarf to games for the next 50 years!

Grand Final Celebration at the G
Yeah I'm not sure I'll bring the little ones if it's just the screen for 2 hours!

2022 Membership
When will we first hear what our membership tally is at? I've noticed some Saints fans were gloating last week as they had their tally published and they are on a record for this time of year...

Grand Final Celebration at the G
Will there be any entertainment for kids while the game is on the screens?

How Simon Goodwin inspired the Demons to a Flag
After 3 premierships I'd say even more...

How Simon Goodwin inspired the Demons to a Flag
Goodwin had his criticism over the years, some justified, some not. But the most important thing is that he never lost the players. They would always back him 100% in interviews and you could tell it was genuine. Unlike like the Carlton players where you can tell straight away they didn’t support the coach (Ratten - Malthouse - Bolton - Teague) even though they come out and publicly back them. Reminds me of Hardwick early on - he had a lot of criticism of his game style, but you could tell the players loved him.

Dan McPherson departs.
Agree it needs a change but I think it should be a whole new branding, too much confusion when people say "I play AFL" - do you play in the AFL or do you just play footy at your local club?? Similar to soccer where the main league is called Premier League or Serie A. I propose the mens league is retitled 'Stynes League'.

Merch/Memorabilia
Do Carlton Draught do premiership cans every year? I've only ever seen or heard about the Richmond cans.

Closest to the mark...2022 membership total
Seems to be about a 20-25% increase after a premiership. Hard to estimate how much Covid affected this years tally.. Would be stocked if we can get over 65,000. If we can get over 70,000 would would be at the bottom end of the big clubs (around 7-8 on the tally board). I estimate 66,485.

Gary Ayres Player of the Finals
100%, common sense runs pretty thin at the AFL.

Membership 2021
Anyone keep tally of our social media follows? Ive been watching our Instagram follows grow significantly over the past month from 110k to now on 130k. Still a long way off the big clubs but great to see our club is becoming relevant again! A couple more years of success and I can see Pert's plans coming to fruition.

Football commentary does my head in
They do my head in. Brayshaw and Darcy talking about private schools is the final straw for me - "oh he's a good Scotch boy", "oh my son is friends with him from his days at Melbourne Grammar", "it's a football factory down at Brighton Grammar", as the wink and guffaw over each other. Makes me sick that our game has turned into this...

Membership 2021
Pert will buy the extra tickets himself if he has to!!

Melbourne to sell the Bentleigh Club
Does anyone else feel like we've totally screwed over the BC members? Sounds like we came in as the white night to save their club for next to nothing and now we're selling it on them for a massive profit, literally at the first chance we can (once the contract expires).

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
Yes but I believe there is still an election, even as a formality. Eddie was voted in every three years by the board. It may be different for the board elections though... But were getting into technicalities.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
That's not true, he was elected to that position (every three years I believe). And I've never heard him say that quote, I think he said something along the lines of he didnt believe in EGM's. He was not a dictator - he was never challenged, not once. The problem many people have is the Presidency is voted by the board, not the members. (Just my general knowledge, happy to be corrected on the detail)

University research on fans' views of racism in the AFL
But Grr-owl you could pretty much summarise the entire survey in one question - 'Is there racism at AFL?'. It seemed kinda pointless and obvious.... Maybe the original poster could shed some light.
-
Other great comebacks
Ropund 7, 2008. We had lost the first 6 games of the season. 51 points down against Freo in the third quarter, then who pops up - Austin Wonaeamirri!

University research on fans' views of racism in the AFL
Don't need a survey to know there is racism in every pocket of every community in every country on the planet.

University research on fans' views of racism in the AFL
That was the toughest question

Blues Blues
Haha at least we're not the worst!!!
-
Blues Blues
Hmm yes they are. Although they have been consistently mediocre (a bit like the old Richmond), whereas we had a decade of abysmal - likewise Carlton.

Blues Blues
The only team that has been worse than us over the past 20 years!

50,000 Members
We have one of the lowest membership tallies in the comp, we dont have a home base and haven't won a premiership for 60 years. Let's not handout life memberships just yet, especially to administrators.
-
50,000 Members
But Richmond were a rable for 30 years but never lost their fans. Always had decent numbers turing up and then when success came it went to a new level. They may be the exception to the rule though, hard to keep members when you havent won a premiership for 50 years.
