PODCAST: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda
As Andy would say, we should have beaten Stkilda by 60+ today if we kicked straight and after losing to WCE the percentage would have been more than handy! ANB’s form is growing by the week, do you guys think he has been given the impossible task of filling the whole Gus left? Also Might be harsh after 2 games, but how many more games will McAdam get if he fails to hit the scoreboard? Pressure acts, yeah yeah I get it. But he is supposed to be a marking medium sized goal kicking opportunistic fwd, all I’ve seen so far is mis timed flies at a pack and a very small frame being pushed off the ball.

He did more in the first half than Billings had in the past 4 weeks. He’s tougher than Billings and matches him for skill. The knock on he tapped to maybe Chandler? From a 50/50 is proof of that, he even got back into defence to spoil. I don’t think Billings has done that in his entire career.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda
Gee the saints are SH eeee T. Thats the softest AFL midfield I’ve seen since we got called Bruise Free in 2011. Hard to take much out of that. If we were any good we would have been 8 goals up at half time. Stafford needs to go at the end of the year. Can we get an actual modern day forward coach?

Time to Blood Jeffo
If “Jeffo” can put together a big month in the VFL constantly kicking 3-4 goals setting up a few and taking marks and working hard. Sure. But this ain’t the Roo’s era, we aren’t getting games into kids. Get a grip and strap I for a bumpy ride to rd23.

PODCAST: Rd 10 vs West Coast
More or less I did. But we need to find one. I’m hoping Jason Taylor has had enough time since the Brayshaw retirement and more importantly as been told to look for a ready made replacement. Its not that our Era/Window is closing, its more that other clubs have come into their own making it harder to win a 🏆.

I think anyone taken in the mid season draft would go hand in hand for development. If they’re good enough to take for immediate impact and come off they would be good enough to develop. Essendon-Nick Martin, Pies-John Noble, Eagles took Maric last year, Richmond took Marlon Pickett. The talent it there, you just have to find it and given we lost Brayshaw early I’m sure we have been having a good look! And I’d argue any Key Forward showing promise at VFL/WAFL level would be better than anything we have atm. Fair point re Ruckman being a longer shot, but we only have 1.5 back up options in the VFL.

You may not have pre listened to my question @Demonland. But given the Mid Season Rookie draft is 7 days away (9 at the time of recording) didn’t appreciate the dismissive answer to yeah it’s ages away.. From what I see 12 clubs have at least 1 spot available and some even 2 or Brisbane, north and Richmond. If you don’t think this is important, it’s a very short sighted view, given the clubs depth up forward and in the ruck atm. Theres a Key Forward playing for the pies who looks likely and a ruckman in geelong that could be of significant interest!

Dusty Martin
We had our chance in 2014.. Id rather a player with something to prove. Martin has been far to content with his achievements post 2021 (And so he should be!) We need a fast outside midfielder & a Key Forward with 5-8 years left in him!!

TRAINING: Monday 13th May 2024
Playing against WCE you’d think would be easy, but given he’d be lining up on McGovern or Barrass, I think he’d struggle.

PODCAST: Rd 09 vs Carlton
I used to sit in and operate a fixed camera for the AFL match day vision (the behind the goals camera) from 14-16 and back then the goal review system (run by Hawkeye) would have an AFL employee or a VFL umpire sitting next to a Hawkeye tech (normally from england). And back then they had absolutely no F’ing idea what they were doing or talking about. The Hawkeye tech who as there just to play back footage and certain angles for the goal review op would often give his [censored] uneducated view of what he was seeing. It was laughable. I shutter at the tough of who is doing it atm. Keep in mind, if it wasn’t a VFL umpire it was just someone from AFL operations who got paid sweet F all extra to do it. Thats the kind of quality we are dealing with here. That was only 10-8 years ago.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Smug, dismissive call it what you want. Our midfield was exposed early tonight when the game was there to be won. Sure stoppages would have evened up when Carlton stopped dead in the last. But as far as I’m concerned that’s red time stoppage wins. We got opened up when it counted. I’ll give us a small out because of the 5 day break, but the failure to adapt to wet weather footy is disgustingly embarrassing..
