What They Are Saying at Springfield
Doug Reemer replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think if we roll them this week and by roll i just mean win by 1 pt or more, a few other sides in the competition will be very nervous going into the finals. -
Thanks for reading it out. When I listen to podcasts I have it in my head what the podcasters look like and its never anything near the reality. Do you think the three of you would do a podcast together in a the same room and get a photo together and if not have you three caught up at the footy at all through out the year?

We need 4 Gus’s like the old Nike Wanganeen ad!
-
Could be interesting. Given Pickett was heavily strapped and we held over Chandler & Bedford back from Casey this week too.
-
Second Question, IMO Spargo isn't providing enough regular pressure, doesn't play deep enough to hit the scoreboard or be front and centre enough. I'm sick of watching ANB stand at CHF every week, if the club has hopes of TMac coming back, we MUST play a Second Key Forward. Goodwin won't play Weid or JVR. Is Joel Smith is worth a look? He has 5 Tackles 6 Marks and 9 possessions in the slop for Casey. Also Sparrow out for Harmes Spargo out Joel Smith

@binman James Jordan, before I ask my question I did a little research. Having a good year averaging 21 Disposals,350 avg meters gained, 3.4 score involvements, but to me he looks to be getting tired, keep in mind he is still in effectively his second year. Up until about rd18 he was running out games, since then these are his stats second half possesions/total. Rd 19- 6/16 Rd20- 9/20 (Better) Rd21- 9/24 Rd22- 6/17 He is a good natural footballer, but is he a winger? To me he takes too long to move the ball and more often than not he holds the ball up kills momentum. My question, is he better suited to playing off the bench in a midfield rotation? IMO I still think we look better with Gus on the wing.

Melk to half fwd? He just played his best game in 4 years as a FP!!
-
Brown was good. Lifted in the second half. Probably playing the hardest role in the team atm. Single Key Forward. Could have kicked 3/4. He’s not far off. Spargo was useless again. ANB looked to be negating Saad (which worked) and I’ll give you Sparrow, he’s been half the player he was last year, I could see Harmes taking his spot.

Is #18 on our lists name Jake Melksham or Wayne Carey? Happily eating my words about Jake the Snake. He was BOG by a country mile for mine tonight.
-
Ben Brown lifted in the second half. He isn’t a natural 1 on 1 contested mark, but It doesn’t help we continuously kick it to his disadvantage.

Appears to be?

Does anyone have the dates to the VFL finals? Is there bye? What’s the format? You can’t find it anywhere.

Saturday night. No excuses get there and get loud!

Hadn’t missed a beat!

Fair play!

He just played a game in the exact conditions. Forecast for Friday over there and competes hard.
-
We have it covered anyway. They for us at the perfect time at the G. Gawn will want revenge. He has a long memory.
-
What the hell are you smoking?

Call me crazy, but given our backline is settled and Joel Smith is 1-2 weeks away. Why not throw him back up forward and try use him as a second forward? He did kick 6-7 goals in that practice match against the Lions the day he did his knee? We Tmac at the mercy of the footy gods in terms of a return, I can’t see Smith getting back in to our defence? Could be a Matt Robran like move that the crows pulled in 98?

Without being in the inner sanctum. I’d be dropping. Bedford & Bowey for Rivers & Van Rooyen. 🤞🏻 Oliver gets up. If not Dunstan in. Laurie the emergency.

Won’t happen.

Questions for the pod. 1. How much did a 5 day break out of Adelaide effect us? Especially given we took in Gawn and jackson who were clearly not 100%? 2. Do you think Geelong showed their hand too early? To me Melb didn’t look to try anything out of the ordinary. 3. IMO- It’s time to bring Van Rooyen in and maybe Laurie as well? Spargo had 4 touches only 1 of them in our F50. Bedford (was bodied out of contests too easy) out played him had 1 more touch and kicked a goal with the Same amount of touches. Possible changes? Oliver & Spargo out. Van Rooyen & Laurie in? (Harmes/Sparrow to make up Olivers midfield time?) Also surely rivers breathing down here throat of Bowey?

I’ll be sure to remind the lions faithful the grand final will be at a venue they still haven’t won at form 8 years!
