I’m absolutely buzzing still. Just finished the replay and ate a large pizza. I reckon I’m gonna watch the replay again. What is this feeling??
-
If we go in unchanged, we are kidding ourselves. Our connection up forward today was non existent for 3/4. I was there live and could see it and having watched the replay, my thoughts were confirmed by the commentary team. Richmond have fair more accomplished tall backs, who will eat Mitch Brown alive. Whether it’s BBB or Weed, I don’t mind, but when you’ve got quality key forwards at your disposal, who have found form, you don’t leave them in the reserves.

Same year that Richmond became co-tenants of the MCG. Time to take back our turf and assert the Demon era

Petty is not an AFL player. Cannot pickup the pace of the game -

We look flat and the cohesion is right off. Rivers lacks awareness. And his kicking is killing us. Hibberd was ordinary at ground level. -

Fritsch Out for 2 Weeks with Fractured Hand
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hawthorn look set to play Koschitzke or Emerson Jeka to replace Mitch Lewis. The latter is 197cm, so we’d want to have a tall in to cover him. Koschitzke kicked a bag in the preseason, against North, but also stands 196cm. I reckon that rules out Hibberd. As for replacing Fritta, the logical option is Mitch Brown. However, despite a strong finish to the 2020, I’ve seen him have zero impact on games. The left-field replacement would be Daw, who could free up Jackson to go forward, while Daw assists Gawn in the ruck and down back. -
What about bringing in Majak and allowing Jackson to ply forward and Gawn and Daw swap ruck and back?
-
The bloke was our worst player last week and his attempted banana from 15 metres out was indicative of where he is at.
-
If Mitch Brown kicked 3, get him in. However, he seems to do his best work up the field. McDonald may have to play closer to goal. IMV this is a bigger out than May

Clayton Oliver Re-Signs Until 2023
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Travy14's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting that Sam McClure on FC tonight is adamant that Oliver met with David Teague and Carlton at the end of last year. Standing firm on his story that he (Oliver) wanted out of Melbourne...what upset him so much and what is the turnaround? -
Kate Roffey Set to Become President of the MFC
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
As long as she never refers to us as the ‘mighty Melbourne Dees’ ever again, I’m satisfied. -
Kate Roffey Set to Become President of the MFC

So it’s agenda driven??? And we are not the ‘mighty Melbourne Dees’, Kate. if this is about anything but making the club a success, I suggest you are in it for the wrong reasons -
Did Harrison Petty play in the VFL ? What was his form like? There is a lot of love around here for this bloke and I never really understand what others have seen that fills them with confidence that he can perform at the top level. edit: having read Lever’s comments, he says Petty played a half in the VFL. If Brown and Weed aren’t ready after a half of football, why would Petty be ready if he has only played a half. I’d be more interested in seeing Daw given the nod to prove he has something to offer.

The one area I have seen zero improvement in is our forward line. That is season wide, not just today. I am not sure we can persist with Teagan Cunningham. Doesn’t impact the contest enough for a woman her size and is all at sea when the ball is on the deck. Bannon will be a good player, but is just a kid still learning the craft. Zanker is a great forward, but is needed elsewhere on the field. I think we need to address this area going into next season if we are to progress. Hopefully we get Petrevski back in the mix, but even she wouldn’t have made much of a difference today as we bombed into a forward line blindly

I don’t think I commented on the heart of the players, but IMV, some of the skill errors are what you’d expect to see at u16s level. That’s my opinion. I will continue to support the women’s game and know that as junior development continues, so too will the elite level. At the moment, too many players have not grown up with a pathway to AFL and have been plucked from other sports. This leads to messy skills and lack of understanding of game plans. I’ll leave you with that. You seemed to be very triggered by the comment and I’m sorry you’ve taken it to heart, but if you look at some of the errors, you would see that there is merit to my comments.

Amazing that we have had more scoring shots.

Playing our best footy now, but the game is done

Crowd call. Was tackled straight away.

I’ve watched them all and attended them all in person here in Vic. I’m not just sticking the boot into our girls, it’s about the standard of the competition. the inability to pick up the ball below the knees and the constant fumbling under no pressure does my head in. how would you assess the progress over the last 5 years??
-
I’ve been a staunch defender of AFLW, but this standard is pure [censored]...it’s not unreasonable to say that the u15s down at any local park in Melbourne right now demonstrate more understanding of the game than what is being displayed here. with that rant aside, we have no forward structure and have simply fumbled everything under pressure.

And he was given free kicks
