POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Grundy ain’t a forward and the conditions certainly did not help his cause. It’s unbalanced the structure though. It looked off. Rather Schache, who is a versatile, albeit soft, Footballer . We miss the 2nd genuine forward, and just didn’t seem to have much through the midfield tonight. The wet is our nemesis. Completely takes away that intercept marking game.

Vale Jeff Hilton
Just read the sad news that Jeff Hilton passed away this week. Was a terrific player for the Dees in 1994. Reading the news on the St Kilda website, it sounds like he had been experiencing personal troubles in his life. Very sad.

Training Ground?
Is @Redleg suggesting that we are going to have an announcement today?

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
I’ve always liked Harmes, but what exactly did you see today that you liked? He slipped over all day. Tried to do too much as usual. Kicked the ball out on the full with no pressure. Constantly goes backwards with the ball and takes on the tackle. Was caught holding the ball too often. Missed his opportunities on goal. Dropped marks. Happy to hear what you liked

Farewell Brodie Grundy
What I don't get is the talk from the media that MFC will have to pay Grundy's contract if he decides to move. On what planet do these morons live? IF Grundy were to request a trade, it is he who would want to break the contract, giving him no right to demand a contract payout. I do NOT think MFC actually want him off their books. He is a great backup to Gawn and will play games next year and beyond. The nonsense around Grundy is just another example of the media hatred for the MFC. It's all negative press for the Dees, as usual. Get stuffed media!

The Run Home
I'll take Port at the Gabba, because I have no idea how it happens

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
What is with the Petty obsession? He proved he could not cut it as a forward and his form this year as a back has been very scratchy. Constantly run down in the backline due to lack of awareness. Can't play 1 on 1. As a forward he hasn't been able to compete 1 on 1 and doesn't bring the ball to ground nearly as effectively as Brown. It's really funny how some players are harshly judged and others seem to be viewed through rose coloured glasses.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
I reckon people are harsh on brown.. he gets sheizen delivery. When he was out in space he was ignored. He was all alone inside 50 in a central position when JVR took a mark in the centre square , JVR turned his back, then kicked to him out wide on the souther stand side , not to his favour. I think he is judged harshly

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
Dean Chiron on Platten…geeeez you are going back in time Macca. Aaron Naughton puts his hands in his opponents back at every marking contest and is rarely paid against. May had a hand on Danihers stomach and one on his back, and Daniher sprung forward in a diving motion…it was simulation at its finest. You might appreciate the umpiring and all, but those are facts and if they keep paying them then more players will continue to to dive as soon as they feel any contact on their back. It’s a blight on the game

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
Is there any chance we name Schache as the sub? Strong VFL form and can play both ends. If BBB is off, he can replace him. If we lose a key back he can cover there. If Max is struggling, we can sub a small and he can ruck. I know we have more often than not gone for the ‘utility type’ as sub, but l feel we have enough mids to cover spots. I’d at least consider it

Media Bias - What can we do?
After 10+ years in the game, it’s surprising how every time Ben Brown takes a shot at goal BT and JB have to ridicule his run-up and make a cricket reference. [censored] me to tears

Media Bias - What can we do?
This is a terrific post. I watched it live too, and thought we completely controlled the play and it was a tough contest. Got home and watched the replay and it was like watching an entirely different game, due to the narrative created by the commentators. one thing I like about Premier ALeague Football is that the game is just called play by play, with very little bias and hyperbole- the same can’t be said for our game any longer.
