Like Hodgey, who conceded that the ball hit the deck, but doesn’t mind the mark being paid, because the bloke was playing in front 🤯
-
BT and Hodge made that even more unbearable too many passengers wet weather tests our game-style pickett on notice everything went their way move on
-
McDonald cannot even jog. The bloke is done!

I agree Titan…Dees fans seem to prefer the day/afternoon slots. The aging fan base don’t seem to come to our night fixtures. Although some seem unhappy, I reckon the AFL actually put research into it and know that we will do ok in those slots. We have had two absolute blockbusters this year, with the Anzac Eve and Kings Bday.

Sparrow cops one week ban for rough conduct
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Seraph's topic in Melbourne Demons
Honestly, the bloke has lost the plot. -
Right on. That’s the defeatist attitude to live by.
-
What did he actually say? I mean Jim achieved the ultimate in the game as an individual. Was picked in the State of Origin side. Cox plays one good game every 8 weeks. They were talking up his player ratings. It’s laughable to compare them

The giants are absolutely pathetic. The don’t tackle or chase. Their decision making is appalling. I reckon the hawks would beat them on todays effort.
-
This is shaping up as a smashing. There is just no soul to the Giants.

Called this during the Tribunal hearing. The Tribunal is there to apply its rules, not reinvent their meaning. The Tribunal is not a civil court capable of establishing common law. It’s absurd. The tribunal should be embarrassed and the AFL need to disband it ASAP. It is a great overreach of power. I’m actually disgusted that it got to this point

Just listened to McGuire on Footy Classified take a pot shot at the Dees, again. This time it was a segment on the Big Freeze. He was spruiking the potential massive crowd. He couldn’t resist chucking in the old “we know the Pies fans will turn up, we just need the Dees fans to too. They need to pack the MCC” - how insulting. The bloke might want to check the fact tht the biggest crowd attendance since 2001 was a Melbourne home game in 2018. Shove it up ya jumper Ed.

There’s one player who certainly deserves to be booed this weekend by everyone
-
Anderson did a terrific job. The case should have been thrown out after he directed the Chairman and panel to their own rules, which clearly state that the actions of JVR were within the rules. The fact this was allowed to be deemed a striking offence is complete and utter nonsense..he did not strike him at any stage.

Anyone with half a legal brain knows the judgement is complete hogwash. As I have said since last night, bringing in 'reasonable foreseeability' and 'reasonable person tests' is the greatest load of rubbish. This is a contact sport. You cannot use Civil Law principles. Even the whole 'duty of care' stuff is rubbish. If the AFL really wants to legal protect themselves, get a contract signed with players that includes a voluntary assumption of risk clause. FFS. These clowns at the AFL have lost the plot. Lastly, any reasonable player does what he can to win the ball. That's the object of the game. He was competing for the ball. This nonsense about duty of care and reasonability can be saved for off the ball stuff like Nic Newman, oh wait ! It's a complete farce. And 2 weeks! 2 weeks !
-
Is anyone going to show the Chol decision ?
-
Warm up the lungs for some serious booooooos on Saturday arvo Dees fans. Boo everything.
-
Where was duty of care when Hawkins threw and elbow back into Mays eye socket, With such force it broken his eye socket bone. Seriously? They have no idea how to apply civil law principles to a sport. It’s just plain dumb, if I tackle someone, is it reasonably foreseeable that they might get injured? Absolutely? Do I breach a duty of care? No, because the act is permitted in the sport. Is the spoil permitted - yes! There is no question that was his intent. So is it within rules, yes! It’s the biggest jog on case of all time! And that’s not hyperbole. It wasn’t even careless. It was a play on the ball.
-
Just said the same to a mate. They are trying to apply civil law principles to a contact sport. There is a voluntary assumption of risk that comes with plying this game. The duty of care argument is a bunch of bulldust. You could argue that the duty of care is breached in every tackle. The aim of the act is to physically challenge an opponent. It’s just outrageous
-
That still frame from last night showing that his eyes were clearly on the ball and millimetres from the ball surely clears him. It should be that quick!
-
Dermott Brereton in support of JVR on SEN. Reckons it was genuine spoiling attempt. accidental contact. Says the decision must be changed, otherwise it has the ability to drastically change the game. Reckons Christian is being directed by higher powers to suspend players based on outcomes, to satisfy improved optics amongst fans (and lawyers - although that was what I inferred, not directly stated).
-
How long have we got to wait before we announce an appeal?
-
Completely agree to be honest. See a few posters have laughed at your comment, but in a real court of law, you can’t get a fair hearing of the media has released info that may prejudice a jury. The AFL media definitely influence the MRO and Tribunal.
-
King also reckons the Gold Coast were robbed and that umpires changed the result of the game. Highlighting 3 incidents in the last quarter, ignoring the first three. Fox Footy are a bunch of morons..
-
Yeah spot on. Said the same on the postgame thread. Honestly, it’s so obvious. Also, the media now out for JVR, for what? A spoiling attempt? There are two camps here though. The rational one lead by Jonathan Brown, and the outraged morons led by Ralph, Purple and Jay Clark. Imagine calling for 3 weeks for that! It all started with Dunstall and Derwayne though, who wrote the entire narrative of last night’s game. They crucified him. Made up a story about his eyes not being on the ball. It’s very alarming.

I said the same of Hunter and was howled down by many on here..I said that at this stage, Oskar Baker looks to have had more impact at the Dogs. Perhaps we should have persisted. Hunter is a decent player, but really is lacking in pace. His dinky kicks are hospital passes, and his one trick seems to be the handball to ground play, which is great when it works, horrendous when it doesn’t. He tries to do far too much when he has the ball.
