  1. "We weren't the better side?" Pretty sure we were for 2.5 quarters. Equalled up nearly all stats after giving them a huge start - i50s ended up 53-48. More scoring shots and left plenty short as well. Close game. Let them have their day, it happens. Very confident we reverse that result in September.
  2. Seems obvious we have two styles of play. A) Slow, long down the line, bomb into fwd 50 pockets to create a stoppage. Trap it in, high time in fwd half %, control the tempo = 2 rucks on ground, 1 resting fwd, scoring from stoppage B) fast, counter attack through the corridor off intercept marks/turnover or created from overlap runs. = 1 ruck on the ground, 1 on the bench, scores from turnover. My guess is the FD think we need a mixture of A and B to take out the prize. Perhaps they feel B isnt sustainable for 4 quarters. Collingwood are only doing B and bombed out in finals dont forget. Brodie will be in our best 22 come finals.
  3. Thanks for reading my Question Andy @Demonland and thanks for your answer @binman . Just wanted to clarify I'm not an anti-loader and wholeheartedly agree with your answer. I agree it would be dangerous for us to drink our own bathwater after this result. (and already eyeing up a punt on GWS in the NT - GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY). Pies in September will be a very close game.
  4. In rd 13 2022 the 10-2 demons played the 7-5 pies who ran over the top of us. @binman analysis of that fixture is that was to be expected as we were loading and more heavily than Collingwood due to our 10-0 start and so therefore it was predictable that would happen. Do you therefore think that we should temper our excitement over this win? Do you think it is more of a routine win than a statement win given Collingwood are probably loading more heavily than us around the bye given our 7-4 start vs their 11-1. Was plenty of talk from Goody and others inside the walls that we were targetting this match and probably more so than Collingwood? Or is the lid off and should i be booking flights back from London for the Granny?
  5. Unfortunately youll have to suck it up, unless you want to add an overseas membership with the club and then you get "free" access. Ive tried with VPNs before but the geo blocking is pretty good. If you are in the UK its televised.
  6. Uh oh, we are loading. Pies by 100.
  7. Rewatched the first half. Both teams fell in a hole due to fatigue for the last 10 mins of the 2nd quarter but prior to that we wrre excellent. Those lamenting our ball movement should go and rewatch because we opened them up a number of times for easy marks inside 50. We just kicked 1.5 from those set shots. Loved Tracs game, so mature. McVee, Salem, Bowzer what a great trio we have there. Just quietly I think Grundy is starting to settle in very nicely indeed. This was a game we were in total control of, bookies had the line at 15, we won by 17 and expected scote was far higher again. Adressed some issues around stoppage and clearance. Not sure what some people want, its June, Rome wasnt built in a day etc etc On a final note in Kozzie's flying, i'd be surprised if the coaches are trying to coach out his enjoyment and natural instincts. Think he would be the worse for it (theyve clearly focussed on adressing his rough conduct instead). Time to look forward to KB.
  8. 3 first rounders that can run fast, please
  9. Thanks to being given two rather handy father sons currently on massive unders
  10. Umpiring absolutely putrid, epitomised in the last with the 2 non - frees. Hind caught HTB by Viney, and then the deliberate OOB with no bomber within 50m. Would have only lost by 3 goals if we were given a fair crack. Should write to the AFL and demand an explanation.
  11. @WalkingCivilWar the email should arrive the same day as the membership confirmation
  12. Afl Daily Podcast just released todays episode "Top Four Freo?".
  13. Bundled up pick 58 and 64 for Oscar Allen and pick 12 (taking on half his salary).
  14. Weve swapped a Number 9 pick with 62 goals in 59 games for a Number 2 pick with 78 goals in 72 games, saved 100k and upgraded 2 x 4th rounders to an early 3rd rounder? Whats not to like?
  15. Apologies. Its good to offset the anger at losing out on this deal with the knowledge we'd be looking at $1mill a year over 7 with our already tight cap. Could be a blessing in disguise?
  16. It may be but no club in the land is swapping pick 1 for 12 13 30.
  17. Would be disappointing to have to trade weid to get 44 to tag on to 27 to give to the Pies for Grundy when we gave away 43 and 53 to turn 33 into 27.
  18. Points schmoints If we are using 27 for Grundy (or onto GWS with Bedford for 19/21) then no doubt we have spoken to those clubs and they have said theyd rather pick 27 than our three picks (despite being worth more points) All the talk is that this draft has no depth so perhaps the extra late picks not as valuable as other years
  19. Defenders Lever (Ankle) Salem (Knee) Mids Petracca (leg), Brayshaw (knee), Gawn (foot), Jackson (knee) Fwds Brown (knee), Pickett (knee), Fritsch (back?) The above ones looked visually hampered. Two others - possibly Viney (very quiet finals for him)? Management of players perhaps questionable at times but the back half draw was brutal and top 4 was on the line given Cats/Pies/Swans werent dropping games. Get werridee to post a 22/3 without the above players and we werent making a prelim whichever way you spin it. Moving on i just hope this pre season isnt a 2018/19 cluster**** of surgeries
  20. Big Ben Binman Brown also said something similar when questioned about our loss to Sydney. I felt he intimated loading played a part. Go Dees.
  21. Very fair point. I saw First Crack saying our ball movement since r17 is 17th in the comp. Putting the silly sample size to one side: Our run has been Geelong at cattery, Port in their last crack at finals in Alice, Dogs in their Granny, Freo in Perth, Pies in their Granny and Blues in their Granny. Nearly always with comparatively worse travel schedules and short breaks. Id love us to smash Brisbane on the weekend and see the narrative change once again.
  22. Anyone feel like we didnt play that well (as per the past 11 pages), got smashed in the [censored] count, the 9th best team played out of their skins, and that 9 times out of 10 we win that game (and nearly still did today). And we are 3rd. It's not all that bad, is it? I agree we have to lift a fair bit if we are going to win it (I watched Geelong's last quarter today and their pressure is far superior to ours) but I'm not willing to put a line through 2022 just yet.
  23. Agreed. Only injury forced changes to the side despite being a lowly 2nd on the ladder. Goodwin out.
  24. Loved everything about the win apart from Fritta burning a team mate AGAIN, and Lever doing his AC. I am worried about Fritta as this is the fourth week in a row he has done it and id be amazed if it hadnt already been addressed.
  25. Just catching up on the thread. So is Dunstan being delisted or going straight into the seniors?
