  1. Would think Fritta might get a few more look ins within a 45 degree angle of goal with the space Brown creates. He's been the classic swingman that can't quite nail down a spot, because he can play multiple spots. Having said all that, I'm hoping there is still some room to grab a nippy HFF that may push him out with Melksham
  2. Let it rain goals. We have been bereft of genuine big forwards for way too long
  3. The thing about this is it’s actually a chance of happening, so we are already better placed than 2020. You can say what you like about Browns image, his run up or his flopping for free kicks, but he knows how to do the very thing our side can’t, kick goals.
  4. Damo mentioned Caddy could be looking for a 4th club in his Sliding Doors segment. Would take him as an upgrade on Melksham, AVB, ANB, Hannan etc. He’s similar to AVB, but can get 20 touches and snag a goal instead of 10 and a couple of faux tough guy moments. He would be filthy about missing a flag. He’s not someone I would be directly targeting, but if he’s still around late in the trade period, worth a conversation
  5. If Melksham is in our side for more than a handful of games next year, we may as well start planning for 2022
  6. Clark played almost every game in his first year and a half before injury. He’s very good. Have read there could be attitude problems, but he might just need a change of scenery
  7. If I was offered a couple of years guaranteed wages to live in Torquay or similar, I wouldn’t be able to sign fast enough. Even more so with what’s happened this year with lockdown and hubs. Also pairs up beautifully with Menegola who has been sensational this year. The extra year was clearly not enough when weighed against driving to Casey every week
  8. Think Eddie and Jones are in very different leagues regarding their standing in the game. No disrespect to Jones
  9. Maybe as @Dr evilalluded to, he's finally told Hawthorn and they have thrown their toys
  10. Bit of a reach there from Cornes. Only half those blokes would be guaranteed a game each week with us, let alone stacking up against the rest of the competition.
  11. Dean Kent would be sweating
  12. You can understand why Josh Dunkley is considering a change, he's a very high quality midfielder and he's being played as a second ruck and permanent HFF - I'd leave too.
  13. It seems like @Dr evilhas quite thorough comments on everything else happening, not sure why there would be a need to make things up. I know people do it, but it's a bloody enormous amount of effort to play the long troll game if that's his modus operandi
  14. Our leading goalkicker kicked 22 this year (Fritsch) Our leading goalkicker in 2019 kicked 22 (Trac) 20 goals from Higgins would be a dream result when you consider above and compare with those who play FP or HFF for us; Jake Melksham - 15 Trac - 15 (Get's off due to midfield minutes) Hunt - 10 Spargo - 8 Hannan - 7 ANB - 7 Pickett - 7 Bennell - 3
  15. I think this is about right. Gawn and Oliver, whilst decent enough, were not a shadow of their former selves this year. From the B- list down, there is no guarantee our blokes would win their position, let alone break even (Hibbo & Tomlinson, when back, would be the only ones I'd potentially argue) Langdon has been a revelation for us, but I doubt he'd be in the top 10 wingers in the league.
  16. I think you’ve answered your own question. He’s an upgrade on what we currently have and that helps us improve. Melksham played all year and delivered absolutely zip, Higgins can slot straight into his spot and if he contributes every second game we are miles ahead.
  17. Would do this without a second thought. Brayshaw is a good enough player, but he doesn't have anything we don't already have. Billings is a bit more zippy and can kick well, consistently.
  18. Agree. I am not the biggest Fritsch fan, because I think he gets selected too easily as the best of a bad bunch. I doubt Geelong would have him in their starting forward 6. Definitely does not get a gig at Richmond.
  19. Think Bolton thrives with the system around him, don’t think we could provide that. We also would have just played him regardless, unlike Richmond who have made him earn it
  20. There is a lot of people in this thread that severely overrate our playing group and underrate Brown. Richmond won the game last night because Riewoldt and Lynch got involved after half time. Yes, the game plan tweaks enabled that but if you don’t have anyone for the small blokes to kick to or rove from, it was game over. As @binmanmentioned, Stewart didn’t just decide to stop taking uncontested marks - He was well on his way to a Norm Smith medal at half time
  21. Lynch and Riewoldt both got involved after half time, they were barely sighted in the first half. I’d say they were the two that got involved and provided the structure to steady the ship. Geelong will rue that opportunity for a long time, they were very close to having that game sewn up in the second quarter, just squandered their shots on goal
  22. Lynch creates opportunities due to his size, he’s just a big strong body to contain for a full 4 quarters. Same will happen with Brown, he’s a big bloke with very long arms. You could argue on last night’s game that neither of Lynch or Riewoldt had a great game themselves, but they were there, so opportunities arose. Geelong on the other hand were using Danger as a more permanent forward and he was doing everything he could to create opportunities, but he’s just not quite big enough to cause any real headaches for a Grimes type defender. Geelong’s weekness has long been their forward half and their ‘keepings off’ game style has been created to try and reduce the impact of this. They know this and Jeremy Cameron will go a long way to fixing this
  23. He’s been pretty immense, creates huge contests exactly when needed.
