  1. If Goodwin is to be replaced, now is the time to do it. Not after the season’s finished, not mid year, do it now. After just 2 games, this season is still salvageable. I just can’t see what Goodwin can do or say to turn things around after today’s horror show. A fresh voice/approach might just be the impetus the players need turn their form around. The alternative of keeping Goodwin in place and then things not improving on todays outcome would likely result in MFC finishing bottom 3 with a real chance for the wooden spoon. Trying to recover from that scenario next year (and beyond) would be near on impossible for a new coach and definitely impossible for Goodwin should he somehow remain coach next year.
  2. Yes, could have been anything! Always thought he was G. Ablett snr Mk11 without the strength.
  3. Too right, Jakovich and any of Schwarz (pre-knee) Neitz, Lyon or Jurrah would win by a furlong over the star-billing of Curnow and McKay. The Wiz for icing.
  4. Struth, where to begin? So according to you “best forward in the last 50 years” equates to the forward that plays the most games? On that flawed rationale, how then can you say Fritsch is better than Lyon, Neitz, Green and Robertson, all of who played more games than Fritsch. Please clarify. PS. Jakovich 4.28 goals per game Fritsch 1.68 goals per game Jakovich not streets ahead, suburbs.
  5. Are you serious? Did you see any of Lyon, Bennett, Jakovich, Schwarz, Neitz, or Farmer play? If Liam Jurrah could have played longer he would have out-rated Fritsch IMO. Did you mean the last 5 years, not 50 years—- typo perhaps?
  6. I would add David Schwarz and Darren Bennett to that list.
  7. Was at the match, for 57 years I’ve held the memory of Hassa kicking the winning goal by snapping over his shoulder from deep in the left hand forward pocket in heavy traffic. The video says otherwise. If only there was a replay of Queen’s Birthday Round 9 1967 v South Melbourne, Hassa kicked 7 in a big win.
  8. “WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THE FACTS” That being the case, surely it is unreasonable for you to criticise anybody on this site who makes an unsupported statement or even just for expressing their opinion.
  9. Has the 2025 draw been announced? I must have missed it.
  10. As an observer I think you will find he said a lot more than that amongst his numerous vitriolic posts.
  11. This is the third post today by Jay Clark that has left me wondering, who does Jay Clark work for, Geelong FC or Clayton Oliver’s management.
  12. No, I totally agree. If we genuinely want him gone I think we should fight tooth and nail for the best deal until the last minute of trading. And pay zero of his salary. I also think we should be working overtime with every other club and not giving Geelong the time of day. If no suitable deal can be done, he stays. If he then plays at Casey for the whole year @ $1,000,000- + it would bring into focus player contracts and farce the really are.
  13. My concern with this is, if he chooses not to get fit and firing, has more off field troubles and/or holds the club in contempt resulting in him making no effort ( even begin happy to front up weekly at Casey) would MFC still be required to PAY HIS FULL SALARY? If so, player contacts are clearly too heavily stacked in the players favour to the point of being farcical.
  14. That might be the case but my referencing of Jay Clark’s post was to question how Oliver could out if we didn’t agree. If Geelong really want him they need to compensate us. Also, MFC should not be conned into paying a cent of his salary.
  15. “Can Melbourne hold him to his contract if the price isn’t right?” Bewildering. Surely he’s our player until MFC say he’s not or his contract is up. Or perhaps “journalist” Jay Clark meant to ask ‘should’ and not “can”.
  16. Too right, and why in that case should he receive all of his $1,000,000 + salary next year?
  17. Many things would need to be considered and that would probably be one of the most important. Off the cuff I would say, the cap is not affected, monies saved go into the club’s coffers. Any variance to a players salary would be decided by an independent panel after the Club put its case.
  18. I have absolutely NO idea how AFL player contracts work however if they are not very, very heavily based on PERFORMANCE, they should be. If any player underperforms because of questionable off field behaviour or bad attitude or a gripe against their club, why should they receive 100% of their pay?
  19. In the famous words of Norm Smith ”I’m MELBOURNE” I’m not Clayton Oliver I’m not Christian Petracca
  20. Quote on the Desk calendar today ”There is no security on this earth ; there is only Opportunity. Douglas Macarthur. Seems to sit well with what Chris Fagan told his players mid season, “ If you’re skating in thin ice you may as well dance” Be bold, Be brave. Oliver + for DeKonning and Brad Close Petracca + for Jai Newcombe and Weddle ( sure CP mightn’t want to go to the Hawks, but it’s an example of a trade that would IMO enhance our fortunes for next year) IN : 4 clear best 22 players OUT : 2 MFC all time champions who may or may not ever get back to their best. OUT: Potentially, all disharmony within the playing group.
  21. I’m confused. You’re critical of some people for criticising Fritsch but then you say Fritsch “can go to the next level if he can put in a concerted effort to improve”. Concerted effort in what areas? Perhaps more effort in chasing? Maybe being stronger in a 1 on 1 contest? Being better at sticking a tackle? These are the things why some of us are critical of Fritsch. No-one doubts his class with the ball.
  22. Would it be possible to enlighten me in what or who TWSNBN is. Also what role did Joe Daniher have and when was he there? Thanks in advance.
  23. For those who don’t like the word ‘Woke’. What about NAW New Age Wowser Seems apt as they enjoy to “gnaw ‘’ away at the foundations of things that their ideology doesn’t agree with.
