Jeez. I'm glad we're not playing Adelaide in the last round. they're red hot at the moment.

    Top work Elegt
  3. Pity. It would have been a great omen!
  4. A lot of people doing it tough and I note the comments here about small businesses in particular. I know plenty who've been stuck inside and its starting to really grate. Mental health is a big issue that doesn’t get mentioned often enough. Hopefully by GF weekend restrictions will be relaxed a little so families can visit each other again, friends can have 1 or 2 visitors over. I’m all for it for those reasons.
  5. Do you have any relatives with a birthday on 24 October by any chance?

he's been a super player. Tough little bugger. Great hands. He's not been the same since that knee injury last year. Pains me to say but i don't think he'll get back to his best.

I had my doubts and especially when he presented for pre-season out of shape. But to his credit he's come good. He should be AA. I wouldn't swap for any other defender in the game. Harris Andrews maybe but thats it.

The problem is Biff when we do try that we cough it up. Skills let us down. I was heartened to see Kozzie start a chain of handballs from half back which led to Spargo's first qtr goal. More of that please.

It's way too predictable at this stage. I'd add Weids or Brown to your suggestions as well?
  10. Great talent. Kicked 2 crucial goals and showed more composure doing so than most of our senior players!

It’s been said elsewhere but GWS and ST Kilda playing before us next week is huge. GWS will have to put it all on the line and if they play like they did last night then I think they win. But it’ll be tight. I’ve just watched the highlights from the Port and Essendon game. The bombers are an absolute rabble. They’ve checked out. If we bring the same attitude and intensity as last night then we can win by 6 goals I reckon. I imbibed a little too much wine last night so the head is in no shape to work through the permutations but a GWS win together with us making up enough percentage gets us into the 8 no matter what the bulldogs do. Is that right?

More likely Hibberd, Lockhart (if he's ever allowed out of the doghouse) will take Jetta's spot.

Far exceeded my expectations. I wanted Hill! Disciplined, always providing the outlet, huge tank. We finally have a proper wingman so kudos to the recruitment team.
  14. And Rivers was pick 32. Another like him would be a win imv.

Langdon excellent but my vote goes to Burgess
  16. I’m not about knee jerk reactions. Absolutely the pros and cons need to be weighed up and properly considered. It’s more the heart and soul arguments I take issue with. You’re correct about Williams. Thanks for putting be right there.
  17. Thank for the correction WWSW. Shannon Byrnes. Jeez. A very underwhelming 2 years at the club. I think Williams is a safer bet though.

I agree Deever. Weids is at best a no.2. He doesn’t have the presence to lead the line. We need to bring in a key forward. It’s our no.1 need. If Hogan is gettable I’d bring him back. Agree options are limited. I’d worry if we leave Jackson in the forward line with an under-performing Weids alone. He needs to be taking the 3rd best defender. Allow him time to develop. Otherwise he’ll be added to the list of players whose development has been mismanaged by the club.
  19. There’s a thread on this forum about ruthlessness. I think it’s time this club displayed some. When weighting up a trade you have to consider what you get in return. It’s been mentioned here we’d get a first round compensation pick. That’s overs for Jack in my mind. I agree that he leads by example and is consistent of effort. And that’s not nothing. But when he had the captaincy last year he was poor and didn’t handle it well. It affected his game (although no doubt injury played a part as well). His skills are limited and let him down too often. We have a tendency to over rate our players. There haven’t been too many players who have left this club recently and been a success elsewhere and I reckon Jack will be no different. If we get a first round pick which we use to secure Zac Williams we will have improved our list imo.

We’ve had plenty of passengers the last 2 games but I can’t see us winning tonight if Weideman has another poor game. He needs to lift otherwise I don’t see where the goals are going to come from.
  21. It’s much easier to point to the countless number of clubs and administrations who had plenty of passionate club people involved and were not successful. You feel that the club needs one Melbourne person involved. Fair enough. But I would like to know why exactly. What quality does a Melbourne person bring to the table that a non-Melbourne person doesn’t have and how does this quality lead to better decisions? Brendan Gale and Peggy O’Neal are successful because they are competent and know what they are doing not because they are Richmond people. Do you think if they were at other clubs they won’t be successful and if so, why?
  22. I want to see people in leadership roles who have the aptitude for the job. Too many people think passion and enthusiasm translate into competency and good decisions. They don’t. In fact, the opposite is usually true as our track record over the past 50 years proves (Jim Stynes being the lone exception).
  23. Why do you think it wasn't a shrewd move? Do you think we should have held on? And if yes, why?
  24. We wouldn’t get the same price now, not even close, and would be lumbered with a venue which is a drain on cash (running, maintenance costs etc. but no income due to covid). The cash from the sale is banked and provides a buffer so we are not reliant on the AFL to prop us up and therefore beholden to them. An inspired decision as it turned out.
  25. Selling the Leighoak club has turned out to be quite a shrewd move. He deserves more time because of that move alone. I thought his spray after the Port game was perfectly timed as well. I don’t think Bartlett should be the focus at the moment at all. There are always people looking to get on footy boards. It’s the easiest story in the world to peddle. Politics is a sh*tty business and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s someone from the FD who fed this story to Wilson to take the spotlight of themselves.
