  1. Luck is a great quality to have. It's a big variable in the equation and doesn't get acknowledged enough. The random bounce of the ball, a dodgy umpire's call (hopefully we get a few in our favor against Geelong), facing teams with injury issues. I'll graciously accept any good fortune that falls our way. We got stitched last year with the schedule so we're due some.
  2. I'm glad Sydney are attracting all the media attention this week. Keeps the spotlight off us and lets us fly under the radar for a while longer yet. Beat Geelong and i reckon the media will sit up and start to pay more attention to us.
  3. The media aren't talking us up at all All the experts got burnt in 2019 so no chance they'll get carried away with the Dees just yet
  4. He gave standard responses to standard questions from Robbo Move on
  5. We need to be smart and disciplined. Geelong are devious s**thouse rats, will milk frees and draw 50 metre penalties. Fly the flag in the contest but don't get involved in any silly stuff. If Kossie's marker is giving him a hard time then line him up in the tackle or contest
  6. I reckon the next 3 weeks will tell us a lot. Geelong are a streetwise outfit and are well coached. Can we out smart them? We have the talent to do it and i think we will Clarko is still the master. Will he ambush us and take advantage of our complacency. Richmond on Ansac eve. They have been the benchmark for a few years now. Can we withstand their pressure and impose ourselves on the game. It would be an upset if we pulled it off. We will need to kick straight. That is both finalists from last year plus Clarko's Hawk so should provide a real litmus test in terms of where we are at. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  7. Do you not think the fact we have been ordinary, as you put it, yet have still won our 3 games, is a big improvement in and of itself?
  8. I'd pay him top dollar on a contract that takes him to free agency. Just get it over and done with. I prefer shorter contracts anyways. GWS and Collingwood have handicapped themselves because of ridiculous long term deals. If we are successful he'll re-sign thereafter. If we're not well he deserves a crack elsewhere.
  9. I reckon the Bont is the only player i'd consider swapping him for. The Danger of 5 years ago perhaps. He's better than Cripps and Shuey. Not sure about Neale but for some reason opposition coaches allow him to roam free. Reckon Clayton and the team will figure out how to break the tag. Sending him forward on the weekend worked in terms of him winning free kicks and taking a couple of marks. If he sharpens up his goal kicking he'll go up another level.
  10. He did say that TMac and BB weren't far behind. I remember that Adelaide game. The Weid should have kicked it.
  11. I thought of that and I'm not sure tbh.
  12. Ah. Hadn't thought of Moore. Is he better than May though? McKay did kick 4 on him. Although having said that, Greene did kick a few on May at the weekend.
  13. I still worry about his craft. He seems to misread the flight of the ball slightly quite a bit, runs under it a little and has to over-extend to fetch it. Or else the ball hits the tips of his fingers and doesn’t stick. He was great the first 2 weeks so deserves another go but he’ll struggle to keep his spot unless he consistently clunks those marks. It’ll tough again for him this week against the cats. Let’s see how he goes.
  14. Max is a very well-spoken articulate bloke. Great interviewee Other than his comments on rucking some other interesting comments he made: He thinks Langdon is ahead in the B&F voting Reckons the HUB was great for bonding and relationship building amongst the group and credits it for fostering the maturity we are now starting to see. John Longmuir had similar positive comments and how his young team were able to bond in the HUB Reckons the Weid is the best bet at the club, 40 out straight in front with a kick after the siren
  15. I'd love to see Merrett playing for us. We should go hard at him. You'd have to sacrifice Gus but i reckon but that's a price worth paying. Would have to give a pick as well most likely our first rounder (hopefully a late first rounder as top 4 finishers). Maybe some kind of a pick swap.
  16. He’ll be a beast. Was worried he may be more athlete than footballer but he’s laid those fears to rest. Quiet start to the year but has grown in confidence and was a real contributor on the weekend. Good hands. Best ruck combo in the league with Maxy. Slotted his goal nicely. Looks like we struck gold with LJ, Kozzie and Rivers. That’s the kind of drafting that premiership teams are built on.
  17. I agree. Plus Harris Andrews has had a mixed start to the year and i haven't seen any other KPD put their hand up.
  18. Unlike Trac and Clayton i haven't heard a murmur as regards him being unsettled or looking at other options. He was on the Max and Gus podcast recently. Comes across as a reserved low key fella. I don't see him leaving. I think i read Carlton paid Saad approx $650k per year for 5 years. I reckon he's worth the same.
  19. We didn’t just turn up expecting to win. GWS came out all guns blazing, tackled like tigers and were dead eye in front of goal. Sometimes you have to credit the other team. They have quality players, their 0-3 start doesn’t reflect this. That’s a game we’ve lost in the past. Twice now against the saints and GWS we’ve been challenged and twice we’ve responded. The maturity we hoped this group would display is finally apparent. Very positive development and bodes well for our Top 4 chances.
  20. Ineligible. If he maintains his current form he'll be All Australian this year.
  21. He's doing a great job for us at the moment. Loved the way he took his goal against st kilda as well. Calm and composed No way he loses his spot anytime soon p.s hopefully Coniglio recovers quickly. He has no luck with injuries.
  22. Keep winning games of footy and these contracts will take care of themselves. Collingwood hold no fear for me. Players and their managers have long memories. They saw how Treloar and Stephenson were treated during trade period. Why would you join an organisation like that?
  23. If Geelong employ the same rope a dope tactics against us we’ll win. We have a proper set-up now behind the ball so they won’t be able to counter. We cover them easily in the match-ups around the ground as well. We will need to be ready for their s**those tactics though. They will duck, dive, pinch, poke and do whatever it takes to knock us off our stride. They really are a very dislikeable team.
