  1. If i was a club trying to fill a coaching spot he'd be the find person i'd call. Simple, concise, no BS analysis.
  2. The Lions having a leisurely saunter in the Sun today. No preparation for their game against us. They'll get a rude awakening next week.
  3. Giants are completely switched off today. A 100 point belting on the way for them if they don't wake up soon.
  4. Lions quick out of the blocks. Giants need a settler.
  5. One other observation about our approach this year is how disciplined we’ve been and ignored any provocations from the opposition or bad umpiring calls Max gets belted from pillar to post but just gets on with it Fritsch ignores Willams (I think it was Williams) roughing up after the caught high free. Got up and slotted the goal. I also noticed in that incident a few doggies players gathered around Fritsch but the Weid just shielded Fritsch, he didn’t push or shove. Calm and composed. We didn’t appeal the deliberate last week (although maybe we should have been more demonstrative) we just set-up again. Real focus in the moment. Goody to his credit didn’t make a big deal of the non-call last week and its obvious that’s the type of mentality he is instilling in the team. Just get on with it. No excuses. Focus on the controllables. A big contrast to how Richmond go about it
  6. I wanted him sacked but couldn't be more happy to be proven wrong. Yze and Williams have been great additions to the coaching set-up but Goody deserves the lions share of the credit. Even when things were going badly in previous seasons it was obvious he never lost the players. You can see the rapport he has with them and i think coaching from the bench really suits his coaching style. Now he has a strong caching team with him he is can focus on his strength which appears to be man management.
  7. Nothing like a commanding win over our nearest rivals to set the weekend up beautifully. I'm really looking forward to the rest of round knowing we're snared the 4 points and are sitting pretty on top. Lions v Giants the game of the remaining round. Really hoping GWS can give Brisbane a few problems, perhaps soften them up a bit before we play them next week. Seeing the pies get stomped on would be the cherry on top for me this weekend.
  8. Been a big supporter of the Weid and reckon he did just enough to hold his spot but I have to admit I was very worried after his first half nearly performance. He has to take more marks. Hopefully those 2 goals will give him the confidence and belief to kick on from here.
  9. I find the high-minded, condescending tone of these types of posts irritating and tedious If we backed in every player, always, despite performances we would never make changes to the team Salem has had one quiet game, not poor just quiet. The players you’ve mentioned have a had a run of poor games (aside from Gus who has played his role well all year) I’m not one for knee jerk reactions. Players need a run of games to find form and prove their worth but we have some fringe players like Melks, and I would include Hunt also, who can’t afford too many poor games. We have players putting their hands up at Casey who deserve a go. Fritsch was great last night and against North but has had a few shockers in between. Calling out his poor performance and suggesting he gets dropped is not hating or being reactionary. I’m glad he responded last night but if he had played another bad game then a spell with Casey might have helped focus his mind and been best for him and the team. I notice you didn’t include the Weid in your group. Does that mean we are allowed to discuss whether he should be dropped next week?
  10. Our form has dropped off a little over the past few weeks so I was a little concerned about this match. Turns out we were just pacing ourselves. As soon as I read the Michael Gleeson article in the Age about the genesis of our new selfless approach and role orientated mindset I just knew we would turn up last night and boy did we put on a performance. No team in this competition holds any fear for us. We’ll respect them all but we have the gameplan, mentality and talent to beat all comers. The Lions are going to get a taste of it next week don’t anybody worry about that. I just hope we can stay fit and healthy. If we’re picking 19-20 of our best 22 in September we’re going to be hard to stop.
  11. i'd have him in our team in a heartbeat
  12. I find him annoying but if he was in Adelaide last week he would have made that deliberate free kick call
  13. You can't win every game. Much prefer to beat the Dogs and lose in Adelaide than the other way around. And besides, nothing like a bitter loss to instill some motivation and make sure we keep our feet on the ground and stay focused. We responded in style last night. Doggies had a cakewalk last week against the saints which was no preparation at all before playing us.
  14. Huge loss because the reality is we don’t have an adequate replacement. We’ve seen Baker and chandler this year in cameos but I’d like to see Bedford brought into the side. See if he can step up. He’s done enough at Casey so has earned the right.
  15. 6. Brayshaw 5. Oliver 4. Rivers 3. Harmes 2. Trac 1. Lever Honorable mention to Max, TMac, Fritsch and Spargs
  16. What were we worried about? Magnificent performance We always have a great spread of contributors. When someone has an off day another player steps up Rivers, Brayshaw Lever, Trac, Oliver, Max TMac Nibbler Fritsch all very good. Bring on the Lions
  17. I'm absolutely loving this. Wish we could play the Dogs every week.
  18. We're well on top. Dogs out of ideas. Stayed focused and close this out Dees.
  19. Great composure there by Nibbler to calmly pick out the Weid. He's having a good game Nibbler.
  20. The Weid marks and ...... scores. Never doubted the lad
  21. From the sublime to the ridicoulous with Maxy
  22. Bad bad miss from nauighton. Big time let-off
