G’day mate, I am very well, hope you are too. Both WA teams would make a lot of sense as far as Jackson goes, will be interesting to see what maneouvres will be made to secure him. Probably the best rounded ruck prospect to come through since Grundy. Was a big fan of what Kemp did in the Champs, particularly the last couple of games. His midfield game flashed a bit of Paddy Cripps, and his impact in the forward line pushed him up. He’s a true utility, i’m not sure where (or whether) he settles down in one area of the ground. The only qualifier when trying to project how that translates into senior footy is that this crop overall is short on quality tall players (across the ground). Kemp had a bit of a size advantage in all areas of the ground, and he used it well. He won’t have the same advantage at senior level. He can’t do much about the size of his immediate competition at this level, although that qualifier works both ways. If I was picking between him and a comparable player (eg Sam Flanders), I’m picking Kemp because he has that size. His talent should translate, but would have been great to see a bit more of him post champs. Given the balance of our list is currently skewed toward bigger bodied mids, I’d choose a few others ahead of him, but he’d be a great fit for almost every other club. Have you seen much of Elijah Taylor?

The value of the pick is always relative to the depth of the pool. Last year there were 7 standouts who, as individuals, could have viably occupied top 5 spots in most draft pools. This year there are 2 in Rowell and Anderson, which makes 1 & 2 more valuable than usual (and not necessarily reflected in draft points calculated value alone). The next group is starts with Hayden Young (who is not far off to being up there with Rowell and Anderson). In the scenario where GC chose Anderson first and we still held pick 2, I’d select Young over Rowell, as he’d be an excellent fit for us. Reminds me of Heppell at the same age, but his kick may have greater penetration. Has super vision and executes under pressure as well. After Young, there is Lachie Ash, Dylan Stephens (both with pace and good kicking skills, so also reasonable fits for us), Tom Green (GWS Academy), Kemp and Luke Jackson. There are others on the fringe of top 10 calibre, but potentially you have 8 or so identifiable top 10 quality talents (and being a ruckman, Jackson won’t go that high, but Serong probably will). Once you get to pick 8 you have variable quality, and I reckon comparitive first round quality goes to about pick 16 (this includes highly rated guys like Dylan Williams and Cameron Taheny whose stock took a hit after poor Championships). 2nd round quality runs to about 31 (short of our third round selection, 38 at this stage). Given our 2nd rd pick is close to a first round selection (may be inside pick 20 after Tom Green bids are in), I’d package that along with our third (or next year’s second) to get a late first round pick to send to Freo for Hill.

Wonder if Saints are willing to give up pick 5 for Hill? Seems steep, but they don't have much else in terms of picks after trading away their 2019 2nd & 3rd rd picks last year. Maybe we can package pick 20 & 38 for a mid 1st round pick (and maybe something back the other way) and trade that pick (15ish) for Hill. Suns hold Brisbane's 1st rd pick and (at this stage) don't pick again till 49. Might be happy to nab the extra picks for any bids on Conor Budarick, or even just to have extra selections.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Cheers. Agree that NEAFL form is difficult to measure objectively, but he can only play what's put in front of him Sproule's also had injury to deal with this year as well. We don't have much to lose in asking and there's no clear pathway into the GWS senior team. Could be a match. Think so. Was GWS academy eligible, but got through to rookie draft by recollection. Was in the same forward line as Marshall. Not sure if that was a help or hindrance in his draft year, but remember that he had a good patch in 2016 GF that helped Murray get back into the game. Just didn't finish off his good work.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Had forgotten about him. A bit surprised he hasn't gotten any sort of run in the seniors for GWS since being drafted. Definitely worth checking in on, wouldn't cost too much if he was willing to move. Good athlete and showed some versatility, would be keen to see how his body is tracking after a couple of years in the system.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Would be a good get, but Port probably not keen to move him on and no word on him wanting out. Plenty of opportunities in Port forward line coming for Marshall. Not much else on the key forward front at other clubs. Anyone of decent value is getting a game and unlikely to move, those that aren’t getting games are untried (Toby Wooller, Patrick Kerr). One player that fell out of the AFL system and has gone back and done well at state league level is Liam McBean. Might be worth a look and would likely be a better option than Tim Smith as ruck relief.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-07-25/what-are-they-worth-kelly-coniglio-martin-and-all-the-other-trade-targets A number of lower profile players on this list who would help in areas of deficiency. Shai Bolton is starting to translate his talent into decent AFL performance, wonder if he could be tempted? Bonner would be a good get without costing much at all.

Was something in the media a couple of weeks ago about Geelong trying to lure him in a year when he hits free agency.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
We’ll have a bit with first Watts then Hogan shipped out. Lewis and Garlett will be off the books at years end. With staggered contracts I think we’re expecting to be able to snag a decent trade target this year.

Who will the Demons target next?
OOC at seasons end and may be open to a move to Victoria as his partner is from here and reportedly unsettled on GC. Was keen on getting to Bombers last year, but scuppered by Shiel deal.

Phantom Drafts - 2018
Or in the case of Jordon, not so late get! Wonder if Andrews comes back as a over-ager.
-
Who’s left?
Don't worry about Jordan, he came into the Chargers system late and hoped he'd get to us late, reckon he's among the best kicks in the pool and a very good decision maker. Surprised he went this high, but happy we brought him in.

THE 2018 AFL NATIONAL DRAFT
Will there be runner cam? What happens if the runner does a hammy and doesn't submit the pick in time? Maybe the NGA bids can be settled by whichever club's runner gets to Gill first. Would be better than the GF sprint. I think I prefer this system tbh...

Phantom Drafts - 2018
Funnily enough I was reminded of McKay when watching Kennerley too, though I reckon Kennerley projects as a more consistent ball winner I think Kennerley’s got a bit more depth on his kick than someone like Billy and he had a more consistent season than McKenzie. Although I really like McKenzie’s potential (his upside arguably greater than Kennerley), I think Kennerley's game is closer to what we need right now. I also like that Kennerley was able to hit the scoreboard on a regular basis as well. A good finisher from around 50, which would be invaluable if he were to bring that to senior AFL footy. Not often you come across an inside ball winner with the burst speed that Sparrow has, so can see the appeal. The polish could come when the game slows down for him (with experience), but that level of competitiveness is virtually impossible to teach. Tom Joyce has plenty of fans too, there were some whispers that Freo might look to grab him with their 2nd or 3rd rd pick. He’s probably gotten lost amongst the 5 or so very highly rated SA boys.

Phantom Drafts - 2018
Kennerley's the one for mine if Sturt & O'Halloran are gone, but McKenzie's not a bad option if it pans out that way. Seems like there's a lot of love for Tom Sparrow too.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - COREY WAGNER
Tend to agree, although I think Tyson's spot is there for the taking. One of Kolodjashnij or Hunt could step straight in, but Wagner could keep them honest. Probably better suited to that role than Tyson in a direct comparison.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
Yep, Libs aren’t even bothering to run dead in Richmond. They want Greens to topple Labor here and don’t want to divert any votes away from them. Greens are a strong chance in Richmond too. Labor are appropriately nervous about this one.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - COREY WAGNER
Reckon this will be a nice get. Liked Corey in his draft year, had zip and made things happen, should be good depth in an area where we need it (outside run). Ended up going the pick after Mitch King in 2015. Another tick for the Casey partnership as well. VFL: Corey Wagner’s AFL journey

Phantom Drafts - 2018
Bytel was very good last year. Two I like as smokies are Daly Andrews from Western Jets (long kicking, athletic type who loves going for a run) and James Jordan (186cm Oakleigh midfielder who can play half back, great decision maker and could be the most penetrating kick in the class). For different reasons, both didn't have a tonne of exposure this year, but could be great late gets.

PICKS # 26 & 31 (formerly # 23 & 28)
AFL Draft Central have a look at a few who they rank in the 16-30 range. https://www.afldraftcentral.com.au/2018/11/07/afl-draft-central-november-2018-power-rankings-16-30/

PICKS # 26 & 31 (formerly # 23 & 28)
Interesting to hear that Valente & Duursma are among the 20 kids invited to day 1 of the draft and Ian Hill & Curtis Taylor, who have both been comfortably ranked inside the top 20 for the last year or so, are not. Dees could have some handy players slide to 23 & 28. Some more names to consider: https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/afl/afl-2018-draft-board-power-rankings-26-to-50-the-hidden-gems-that-loom-as-draft-bargains/news-story/9f1044dcf7c125149ed2139eaa5108e3?__twitter_impression=true

Jordan Clark
Fair chance that he’ll be amongst the first 10 names called out.

2019 Fixture
Yep. We don't need to be giving the reigning premier any advantage, would rather we play St Kilda or Carlton tbh. Doesn't feel right that we are virtually selling our home game against the team that knocked us out in the prelim.
