It’s starting to grate how much negative information about players (be it Oliver, Petracca, etc.) gets leaked once the club starts to look bad in a PR sense. Questioning our culture due to ‘recreational behaviours’ is something, but so easily backgrounding against your own players when the narrative runs against you screams terrible culture and weak leadership. We’ve seen this in political parties of all persuasions and usually ends badly. It’s corrosive and toxic.

To quote Lincoln ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand’. Seems Pertinent.

Country lifestyle…and general stability. Our administration is looking like a mess right now.

Did Eastern Ranges just clone Josh Smillie and name the clone Oliver Greeves? Separate note, GC have a beauty in Zeke Uwland. -

What does his camp think about Melbourne? This feels like a very strange move. Is he trying to torpedo his own chances of going top 5 by putting off Eagles & Crows? -
Pretty much.
-
North are prepared to offer their future 1st, which could be quite high next year.
-
Can’t see us splitting 5. Throw a blanket over picks 1-6 before the first talent cliff comes in, we won’t want to drop out of that spot.
-
Gold Coast and Brisbane will trade their picks in that range (sounds like pick 6 will be Richmond bound in Rioli deal), so we’re a good chance for one of those. We have Sydney’s 2nd rounder & two 3rd round picks to add to a bundle for points matching purposes.

I am super comfortable if those are the only 2 mature agers we bring in and invest the rest of our resources in hitting the draft this year.

Good player, but the bidding seems to be heading toward excess. The body of work isn’t significant with Peatling, 5 years is a big investment.

Everyone’s favourite journo believes he is (this was dated prior to Mac extending w/ GCS): https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/09/03/should-demons-draft-mac-andrews-brother-to-lure-usd1-5-million-sun-to/

Would love Lalor, will be interesting to see who gets through. Feels like having a couple of interstate clubs picking inside 5 might throw the selections around a bit too. There’s been a recent reluctance for some interstate clubs to pick Vic Metro kids due to increased risk of go home factor.

Getting 100% consensus on anything is a rare thing, and so many punters put self interest above all. It’s possible that forums existed and people either missed/ignored them or did participate, but can’t see their specific feedback in the outcomes.

He’ll cost nothing and has upside. In the absence of better external options, we lose nothing from seeing what Derksen has at the level. We had interest when he was taken in the MSD, so he’s been on the radar for a while.

The differences are an indicator to both the evenness in the group and what the individual authors/sources place higher value on. Good to see some difference in opinion with some clear rationale on why they rate players a certain way. -
That's effective shutdown jobs on Shanahan & Armstrong in the run home as well as a fun match up with Tauru. There's a bit to work with there, well worth a late/rookie chance.
-
There’s a little bit of concern about Trainor’s concussion history. Add that Armstrong & Tauru may have moved past him as key position prospects and it’s less likely than likely that the Roos take Trainor at pick 2.
-
Whilst I was really hoping that we’d get to see Jagga, FOS & Gross take on Ashcroft, Reid & Marshall in the CTL final, we do have two genuine key forwards facing off. Armstrong at one end and Faull at the other should be a great watch, could have a genuine key forward shoot out.

Aw, c’mon Daz, I was enjoying the fun puns…now I’m all broody again.

He actually didn’t get a chunk of that money because of the Covid freeze on player payments when the season was shut down. He lost out on about $300000 of that front ended money that priced him out for clubs picking ahead of Carlton. Life is funny sometimes.

I mentioned Hannaford a little while back if we wanted to grab a small fwd later on. Guessing his form is lifting him up the rankings now and recruiters will be reviewing his tapes after kicking 6 against the Falcons. He’s on a tear at the moment, but has been good all season after starting the season in defence. The switch forward has seen him become a crucial cog in GWV’s run to the prelim, he’s really good one on one, has pace and is super competitive. Plays with real spark and one to watch come draft time.
