We are also paying a 3 year contract on KK who won't add to his 2 games for us in early 2019 thanks to a return of his concussion issues. Australian Rules football is a contact sport - head knocks are difficult to completely avoid, and McCartin has by all accounts been horrifically debilitated during his protracted recovery from his last head injury. Spot on. This "deserve to make finals" notion is rubbish. Teams "deserve" to make finals if they are amongst the top 8 performers in terms of wins and % over the course of the season. The final 8 concept sees nearly half the teams make the finals - inevitably this will admit teams that are not top-tier in any given year. Arguments could be made for a 6-team finals system in an 18-team competition, but that's another conversation. Go Freo!
