I'd prefer Geelong, because I frankly love knocking them off more than anyone with the exception of Collingwood. However, given the two options, I think they're more likely to run out of legs than GWS by the Prelim, having to go "the long way" to get there. As to next weekend, I think Geelong will get over the top of GWS given the tumult of the Greene fiasco and the likely absence of Tom Green and possibly others. Oh, that and the fact they are a soulless polymer extrusion masquerading as a club.

"The message has already rung clear ... in the community." Rubbish. Handing down merely a fine will ring a bell in the community that the sanctity of umpires has been diluted. That is untenable. The tribunal must be firm in its verdict here.

Just seen the vision. He HAS to be suspended! Walking towards, talking to and gesticulating to umpire before making contact, and the contact is deliberate, aggressive and intentional. So disappointing that a player of his talent is as poorly behaved as that. Kids look up to these players. Do we want 6ft gronk U16 kids shirtfronting junior level umpires throughout the country? FFS how much complaining is there about the quality of umpiring at AFL level on this site and elsewhere? Well guess what - let this behaviour go at the top level and you will see even fewer participants sticking with umpiring. Smaller talent pools erode the quality at the top level. Sadly I fear a media dominated by ex players might see this downplayed. I hope I'm wrong.

Sunday morning I was doing some weeding in the front yard, and was delighted to see a kid aged 8 or 9 clad in a Melbourne guernsey with number 13 on his back having a kick of the footy with his dad on the road. At school drop off this morning I saw a Mum draped in an enormous brand new looking MFC scarf. I've lost count if the Dees caps and beanies I've seen around the streets recently. Great to see.

They've got 2/3rds of our colours already, they HATE Port more than many could imagine, and our coach was one of their all-time greats. Get around us Crows fans. 😀
