  1. Story of our year hey!
  2. Yeah, I haven't been a big fan of his form the last few weeks though, and I think he's been moved to the backline at times as well, so must be struggling to impact. Reckon we'll pull a few surprises tonight anyway, wouldn't be surprised to see one of Preuss or Keilty come in as a late change, and I still have this feeling Hore may be used forward at some stage.
  3. I don't reckon putting totals is a fair assessment mate. Particularly given games played (injuries) and players who have played at the other end of the ground more (Fritsch, Lewis). Averages is a more fair assessment:

Just putting a hypothetical up mate. If you think one 18 year old is going to change our fate enough next year then you perceive our situation differently to me.

Yeah true, that seems the most obvious course of action. Do Geelong need any more small forward types though? Potentially could be a 3 way deal with us sending a pick to Geelong to even out a trade? For example: WC get Kelly and pick 39 (from MFC). Geelong get picks 17 (from WC) and pick 3 (from us). MFC get Petrucelle and pick 25 from WC and pick 19 from Geelong. Then we send pick 19 to Freo for Langdon. Pick 21 Elijah Taylor or Cam Taheny (both quick, talented, goal kicking half forward types) Pick 25 we draft Harrison Jones (key forward). So for our first and second round picks we get a peak age winger, almost peak age quick small forward, a quick hf kid who can score and a key forward project. I'd take that personally.

    Pick 37, 2017.

Honestly my favourite moment of 2019. It's not even close. #Frosted

Would be a good moneyball type pickup for us. Would be our second leading goal kicker this year.

I would love to have a crack at getting this guy. He's contracted until the end of next year, but there's some talk he may be gettable this year for a Victorian club as WC try to get currency together to get Tim Kelly. Gut feel is the Eagles would be more keen on picks than players given the Kelly situation but I would guess our second round pick is already tied up in a trade for Langdon, and you could argue it might be overs for him anyway. What do we think we would need to offer up for WC to be enticed?
  10. Sneaky chance that Hore may have a stint forward. Don't lock it in, but he was doing a fair bit of goal kicking at the captain's run.

I believe it was Jack himself that made the call about the return from injury, and that the medical advice at the time was he shouldn't play. From memory, he came out and admitted that when the injury resurfaced. My comments about him not playing was based around the assertion by others that he's playing injured. Seems to be a common consensus here so I'm just going by that info. I agree the culture has been terrible, absolutely no argument from me about that, and I absolutely love a lot of things about Jack, but just because he plays hard it doesn't mean he's doing anything to improve our culture. I'm not saying he is or he isn't of course. In the end, my only problems with him are his lack of directional leadership (not all his fault, but it's what we need out there) and his decision making, especially given he's the co-captain of a team with notoriously bad inside 50 delivery.

Gave me a little bit of hope. Among other things, he backs in Jones and Goodwin. "As bad as the Demons have been this year, there are still positives in the way they've played. Rarely have they been blown away. Often their midfield dominance simply hasn't been converted. Already there's been several off-field changes that should freshen things up, whether it be the departure of Brendan McCartney or strategy guru Craig Jennings. This year's struggles should expose some of the shortcomings that might have been swept under the carpet last year. Sometimes the internal analysis and self-assessment that comes with a poor season can quickly turn what were negatives into positives." It's not all doom and gloom: Demons can make finals in 2020
  13. I actually don't mind what they've done with the socials this year, it's had a lot more personality and been more active than previously IMO. I just consider the website pretty much a write off tbh, so I'm not too bothered by it. They have done videos though. They did one for Dunkley with his brother and the one they put together for Baker with his Dad was absolutely sensational. 14. Yeah, hope it doesn't cost us a home final...
  15. To be fair, it may still be coming. A lot quicker and easier to make the little social gif than to put together a proper video and get it up on the website. Holding judgment for now.
  16. Oh, yep, sorry should have clarified, I think he'll miss with injury, heard he didn't train today. Frost left the track early with some kind of ankle issue I think. Second hand info, so can't guarantee it.
  17. Will replace Hunt from what I've heard. Plus, Frost a very small chance to miss and Hore could be a sneaky chance to play forward.
  18. I'm sure we would be looking hard for small forwards and running types, I just haven't heard anything myself in regards to it.
  19. Names I've heard enough noise about for it to be an actual possibility... Langdon - Can pretty much lock him in from what I've heard. 85% chance. Zak Jones - Not saying I want him necessarily, but there is noise. 50% chance. Ryan Schoenmakers - Apparently we've been keen in the past, not a big chance, but being looked at. 20% chance. Alex Keath - Not "chasing" him, but keeping an eye on proceedings. The belief has been the rumours have been more manager tactic. 10% chance. The 'chances' are just my guess so don't take that as gospel at this stage. There's been plenty of other rumours (Hill, Tomlinson etc), but I haven't heard much about anything else as yet.

If we're going down this road then: 1) He shouldn't be playing. He should be getting right for next year. 2) He should give up the captaincy given he's such a risk and is apparently not around for most of the preseason. 3) He should have learned from how he handled his injury the first time that he's being selfish if he doesn't listen this time. Trust is one of the biggest things in footy clubs, how much can we say we trust Jack to do all those things?

Imaging if we ruin our next preseason by playing injured players when the best we're hoping for is to finish 16th... Plenty of players could do Viney's role atm, it's not like we're short for inside mids.
  22. Choco Williams anyone?
  23. Lord Nev replied to doug williams's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Rated as the single worst kick inside 50 in the league. Makes selfish decisions ie - coming back from injury. Haven't seen him once give meaningful direction to team mates nor read the flow of the game and make a change when needed. BuT hE bLeEds ReD ANd BlUe...
  24. From a quick look, it appears the General has had the odd good mail in the past. So that, combined with the fact I've heard similar things (albeit third hand), means his comment should at least be listened to.

I'm a Frost fan. I love his efforts to chase, his willingness to create and his unique physical attributes. BUT, if we're totally buying into what Riewoldt is saying, surely that means we're looking at getting a first round pick for him this year given he's out of contract? Maybe even more? I mean, he's now ahead of two of the most highly rated defenders in the league, right? OR, maybe it's a shallow analysis? Maybe he's gotten better because he has players like May and Lever around him on game day, instructing him in reviews, competing with him at training etc. It's an intriguing one that he hasn't yet re-signed and things have been so quiet about it. I wonder if his contract status/offer is impacted at all by any potential rival interest in OMac?
