I'm not one to suggest coaches due to some kind of 'bleeds red and blue' logic, so not mentioning him due to that. Has worked his way up from development coach to senior assistant, and anyone who has been a senior assistant to Clarko is worth a look in my books.

@Demon3 as per your post in the Jennings thread, I chucked some ideas up in the OP here if you're interested. -
Only name I've heard rumoured so far has been Cam Bruce. Could potentially replace Jenning's role, but also could depend on what happens with the senior job at the Blues though. Has been a little bit of buzz about Bolton due to the Demons-Hawks coaching connections, but haven't heard anything yet as to if he's being interviewed etc.

They won't all go, but the only one I'll be disappointed about if he does is Rawlings. Seems to have that good mix of relationship building and respect (as an outsider's opinion anyway), which si something I think Goodwin could learn from. Wouldn't be totally surprised to see Twig leave though. He's highly rated in the industry, and potentially could be annoyed about being brought back from Casey as he was very keen on having his own team for the sake of his development as a coach.

Because you want to be a good footballer? Because you're a competitor that hates to lose? Because you have integrity? Because you respect your coach? Because your leaders demand it? I dunno, there's a bunch of reasons why OTHER clubs would do it, not sure about us though.

Correct on all fronts there mate (as far as what I've heard anyway). Although, might be fairer to say the Jennings one has been a rumour for some time rather than 'known'.

“The issue is going to be Jack. Now I think they elevated Jack too early, I said, that at the time. “He was terrific last year but he’s in a bit of a hole now “And until you’re in control, complete control of your game, I think it’s a pitfall to name him captain. But where do they go now with Jack … I think they’ve got to back him in. “I questioned at the time when they made him co-captain. “I didn’t think it was necessary and I didn’t think he was in control of his game and until you’re mature enough to be in control, adding the burden of captaincy I think is unfair.” Healy on Viney

I know we all love Gus, he seems like an absolute ripper of a bloke, but he hasn't run two ways for most of the year. Last year he was 'dropped' for not putting in the required effort and he used that to turn it into a good year, why are we accepting these performances from him this year?

Tom Browne reporting tonight that MFC may look to move Jennings on. -
Ah gotcha. The same problem still exists though, as much as I'd love him to get moved up the ground, unless we're replacing his quality disposal things could only get worse for our back half turnovers.
-
Agree with most of that except for the last bit. Our infamous back half disposal has now lost May and if it swapped Salem for Hunt we'd be in a world of hurt IMO. Personally I'd go for Hore in, Viney to the back half, Salem on the wing, Gus back in the guts (or even Gus to the back half I guess). Plus, I might have been seeing things, but I seem to recall Hunt playing a bit of backline the last week or two and not having much of an impact. Would rather Dunkley or even one of Chandler, Bedford and Jordon getting a shot up forward instead Hunt anyway, has he seems to have stalled there lately.

I Noah guy...

Wonder if this helps or hinders our chances of getting State Gov help with the MFC home base project? "The project is jointly funded by the State Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria ($5 million), the City of Casey ($2.5 million) and the AFL ($500,000), with production set to commence in September." Casey Fields set for redevelopment

Plus, he was a co-captain with Jordan, not captain outright, and only for one year, plus only played about half the time in the second 2 championships.
-
Welcome back Matsuo. Not sure why I'm bothering tbh, but for clarity sake the trade was actually: Adelaide got pick 10 (2017), pick 19 (2018), pick 67 (2018) Melbourne got Jake Lever, Petty and Sparrow (in a roundabout way). Doesn't seem that bad when you look at it properly hey.
-
Love it. Really shake things up a bit.

OUT: May (inj), Baker, Viney, Jones, OMac, Lewis, Hunt, Dunkley IN: Hore, Stretch, ANB, Lockhart, Keilty, Jordon, Bedford, Chandler Let's have a look at some things we haven't seen, because I've seen enough of the same old this year. (Half joking btw)

All spot on for me aside from mayyyyyybe this one being a little harsh. Not the most skilled, but on a day where we had no real intensity I thought he was the one player going full speed for the ball and full intent into tackles for the full 4 quarters. Not a player I rate very highly overall, but I've actually really liked the pressure and effort he's brought every time he's played. 7 tackles, 5 marks, 6 score involvements (despite playing all over the ground) and 24 pressure acts I reckon is not a bad return given where he sits on the list and how the rest of the team performed, including the co-captains leading him.

Yeah how dare a former captain of the club and team of the century player whose job it is to commentate say things about the club he played for. Worst thread ever.

Out of all the players today, you choose him to criticize?
-
Our problems existed well before he got there. It's a cop out to blame him for 50 years of failure.
-
The problems with this club run so so deep. We have a name, a logo and a jumper, but we don't actually stand for anything. Some things you can allow for, forgive and understand, but the lack of fight when things are tough and belief in each other (not just talking about the players btw) are all just emblematic of an organization that exists just to survive, not to succeed. I believe that can only be changed by leadership club-wide. The closest we've had to a ruthless, wants-to-win leader has been PJ. Goodwin has become a PR artist, Bartlett just wants the "me time", Pert is invisible and our co-captains aren't directional leaders and are so limited as footballers that they struggle to lead by example anyway. Wasn't expecting a win today of course, but the way we have just wandered through this year says a lot about who we really are.
-
Or it means we're being reasonable about the relative cost of talent.
