  1. Yeah true, but it's not a good look for the competition that covered up for Essendon to turn around a give a club with a banned player a 'reward' (perceptually speaking) just a couple of months later.

Not sure if that's what he meant, or just that he's focusing on the season still at this stage.

Would be 31 before next season starts, so it would be a no from me as much as I like him as a player. That would have changed had we made a prelim again, or possibly even just finals, but we potentially need to brace for us not rocketing straight back up next year.

"I heard last year was an aberration" "No, Good sir, that's a fugazi accusation"
  5. The Crossley situation may hurt their chances of getting a PP now.

Could very well be because both Brayshaw and TMac signed new contracts last year when both were having (coincidentally) the best seasons of their careers. This could well have been a factor in us not being able to lure Gaff over in the end either. So May and Hogan probably just interchanged salaries, but then you add on the TMac and Brayshaw increases and voila, instant cap squeeze.
  7. I might be needing coffee, but I don't quite get the connection binman?

    Has become a Monorail salesman.
  9. Collingwood playing for a top 4 spot, Melbourne playing for a top 4 draft pick. Those motivations determine the likely result for mine.
  10. Lever likely to play and May a definite in according to Goody today. Also said they're "happy with how he's (Brayshaw) tracking", which seems sugarcoated even by Goody's standards.

I love posts like this. Just sharing my appreciation for how much work you put into that. Fantastic.

I may have missed something since, but that's not what Lyon said at all as far as I've seen. “Brad’s playing super football … we have a strong working relationship and respectful on both sides,” Lyon told reporters. “We empathise and try and put ourselves in all our players' shoes. But at the end of the day we have list managers and football sub-committees that get to work on those types of situations when they arise. “I’m sure we will deal with the situation when it arises.” Dockers coach speaks on Hill trade request reports
  13. Mate, as mentioned previously, I'm talking about when he was out of contract around about 2013 or so and teams were weighing up the risk v reward.
  14. Yeah for sure, and the timing of them all of a sudden finding a magical cure is a bit suss. Would think Burgo would be all over it should we actually have interest though.
  15. True, and look at him now.

    Fixed it for you.
  17. Thought it was pretty clear that we were comparing the troubles of the two and Melbourne's dislike for 'unsavoury' characters. You said: "Dusty’s known indiscretions and issues are minimal compared with Bennell." And I countered with examples. Not sure how you've interpreted that as 'putting words in your mouth' or you 'not caring about comparisons with Martin' when you yourself compared them.
  18. I was talking about when Martin was out of contract and being shopped around, sorry should have been clearer.
  19. So, you're saying his Dad is the only bikie he knows? And I reckon their rap sheets are not that different, it's just that Dusty has been re-branded in the last couple of years. Missing training due to being hungover, fined multiple times for onfield "gestures", losing his license, threatening to stab a women with a chop stick... Doesn't seem massively different to me tbh.
  20. Might not be remembering correctly (and obviously not exactly the same situation), but didn't we pass on Dusty because he was far too unsavoury for our gentlemanly club?
  21. Must admit, I wasn't keen at first but I'm starting to waiver... MELBOURNE The Demons have a talented onball brigade but they have lacked poise and run on the outside. Bennell was one of the best kicks in the league before his calf dramas. Which clubs should take a chance on Bennell?
  22. It's his first year mate, and he's missed half of it with injury. Managed to crack a couple of senior games though. Just gut feel, but I think the first few years Sparrow might play more of a half forward role and Jordon possibly half back. I think both can bring some good things eventually.
  23. I think of the time this year when Hurn and McGovern took double figures in intercept marks directly from just Viney's kicks inside 50.
  24. Oh yeah, absolutely not saying either of them have anywhere near the potential Gus does, more just talking about our spread of depth and how we have a lot more depth in the ball-winning mid category than the outside runner category. Reckon you might end up surprised by Sparrow. Just my opinion of course, but I rate him as a future player for us. Likely not our best player, but I can see him replacing Viney down the track and having similar strengths with contested work and burst speed like Jack used to have.
  25. Stretch and both Smiths are out of contract and surely we consider paying out vB or he retires? Stretch and J.Smith both have parents who have made comments about not being happy with the club, so they're no lock to stay, and Bull will be 29 when the next season starts and is struggling to stay on the park, so I'd guess 3 of those could very well be gone, and when you add in KK's concussion problems, there's a small chance all of them could be not on our list next year.
