Oh yeah, not trying to imply that our setup at bounces was why he was let go, but I think his failure to adapt and innovate effectively this year ended up being the reason, and to me that was just the easiest example to provide.
-
You can technically have a turnover and have it counted as an "effective disposal". It's a useless stat.
-
You can believe that if you wish.
-
Jennings would be the one to ask, he was the brain behind the 2 players coming off the back of the square that we were no longer able to use. He was let go by the club for not being able to adapt to that. May be a minor change overall, but it made a decent dent in our game plan.
-
Yeah, that's why I suggested Viney for Wines. Like for like. Agree that last thing we need is another in and under type for sure. Just think it changes some things up for us from a leadership perspective and a dynamic as a group.
-
Disposal efficiency is a useless stat IMO. The factors they use to determine it aren't great and as a stat it lacks a lot of context. Watching games I wouldn't have rated Viney's disposal better then Wines. Viney is rated as the worst kick inside 50 in the whole comp this year, a huge area of weakness for us. I'm not sure where Wines ranks in that stat, but clearly he wouldn't be worse than Viney so wouldn't be an improvement in that area. I wouldn't sell the farm for Wines either, and wouldn't want to sweeten the deal much if it was Viney for Wines, just thought it was an interesting hypothetical.

What if we traded Viney for Wines?
-
That's a good point. Pert has apparently stepped up very much since late in the season. I still think it's a good sign IF Mahoney has been part of it, as to me it would say he's got his priorities right and I would have a lot more trust in his review.
-
The holy trinity being split up. If this was part of Mahoney's review then it's a great sign IMO.

Agree with a lot of what you said mate, it's hard for us to know from the outside though. Can't agree with the above though. He made it known he wanted to coach his own side for his own coaching development, but we dragged him back into the fold and his team ended up missing finals. None of that would have been what he had wanted for his career progression. He's now left so that seems clear. He was already contracted. So why would we be extending him more than a year out? And he already had a choice of roles, that's why he took over at Casey.
-
Coached our backline when it had very poor personnel though, and it definitely improved in the time he was in charge. Took Casey to a Grand Final, that's a reasonable achievement I would think too. Not sure where you're getting the feeling we were happy to see him leave? Releasing him doesn't mean we wanted him gone. My gut feel is he would have been annoyed at being brought back when he made it clear he wanted to be in charge of his own team for a while.
-
That's really disappointing but not surprising. Wouldn't have blamed him for feeling pretty annoyed at what happened this year. From the outside it seemed like he was a very cluey operator and is highly rated in AFL circles.

You're welcome to go around measuring members as you wish mate. Doesn't interest me. Cheers.

Totally fine mate. Happy for that bit to not be true and as I said I wasn't sure whether to believe that part as it was from a second hand source that I don't know personally. However, I have absolutely no question on the integrity of info from "source 2".
-
Obviously I'm not going to pass on who has told me things on the internet. From "Source 1", whom I don't know personally but a good friend knows well: Geelong are chasing Trac VERY hard and believe they can get him, more likely next year than this. Some situations between Trac and the club have not been handled well and he's very unhappy about it. No mention of it being Goody, so don't know if it involves him or more player management people like possibly Mahoney, Viney etc. From "Source 2", whom I know well and has very strong connections at the club: Bartlett told him directly Trac won't be going anywhere this year. However, there are some problems within the club that have the playing group split somewhat and it hasn't been handled very well. Source 2 is the same person who told me McCartney would be gone, Jennings would be gone, Langdon was a lock, GC will get pick 2 and more well before any of those things were publicly known. Some of those things I posted here before they happened also. That person also told me about the Yze enquiries, which I posted here and have since been mentioned in the media, but not hanging my hat on it yet given it hasn't happened. I understand the hesitation to believe what is posted by random people on the internet, I am exactly the same, so I'm not too fussed if you choose to not believe me. If you look through my posts since being here though, I haven't been one to just make things up and have posted some info well ahead of time that's proven to be correct. Not saying I'm infallible of course, but I'm not here to make up false stories.
-
Have heard similar rumours tbh. Second hand 'sources' so don't even know if I believe it, but seems to be popping up around the place now. What I have heard heard from a reliable source though is that he's not going anywhere this year, but next year could be another story. I stress 'could be' as a lot can change in a year, but it's not guaranteed he'll be with us in 2021 by any stretch,

2019 your first year following the Dees mate? -
Where’s Tiger Dan Butler at? Can confirm Dan Butler is meeting with his management today to discuss his future. If he gets an offer from elsewhere, he might be off. AFL trade news blog with Tom Morris

Apparently "popped his head into Melbourne Football Club" yesterday. Herald Sun reporting it and saying it was a catch up with a mate rather than an official facilities tour. Interesting choice of venue though.

They don't have TVs in the hotel?

You said Petracca would get us a pick between 8-15. You then went on to talk about how Petracca hasn't finished top 10 in the Bluey. Now you're saying pick 8 is too expensive for a 25 year old 2 x All-Australian and reigning BnF winner.

Direct source please. And not a reporter because you've already said their opinions don't count.

Yeah, I'm gonna tap out now. Have a good one.

Guess 'depth' is one of those words everyone has a different interpretation on. Happy to agree to disagree, seems a common thing in footy! To me, if you've played senior games you're depth. Coming in when there's injuries is almost the definition of depth really. Can understand where you and others are coming from, it's just different to how I see it I guess.
