Trade Rumours 2023
If our F1 is on the table then let’s chase picks 6 and 7. F1 , 25 and get Pick 10. GCS. 13 and 23 (Grundy) and 39 (JJ) to Cats for Pick 7. Try to work out something with GWS for Haynes and Pick 6 for some of their salary cap. Maybe offer them Pick 10 plus they cover half of Haynes wage. Take 5,6,7 to the draft. Make sure there are some leftovers or picks that come back to pick up Brown.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Nick Haynes (GWS) is on a reported 1.2m-1.5m in his final year. GWS have gone on record saying they would cover some of his cap. Would you take him on a 2 year deal (2nd year would be peanuts circa 300-400K) if GWS paid 500K + Pick 15? Or something along those lines. Would you take his full salary if GWS offered Pick 6? If we have the cap space this year due to Grundy leaving and its not going to be spent why wouldn't you do it? it would add some back line depth as well. Then you could goto GCS and say Pick 13,15,39 (2800 pts) for Pick 4.

Me too i liked it. For those that say we gave the Pies a target on our backs, i would respond saying that they have a much bigger target on theirs: 1. Being the premiership team, they will become the hunted 2. Maynardgate If we let them take hold of the narrative and make it about May's comments rather than the above, then we "fire-in-the-belly" to add to the list.

Trade Rumours 2023
Yep i got that. But Sydney would look to get it all done without that pick even coming into the equation. They'd be stupid if they put that up. The only way i could see Pick 11 being traded is if they could split the pick and move into 2024 draft i.e. WCE 2nd round pick(20) and their F1. But doubt there would be many suckers willing to do that trade for pick 11, so its unlikely.

2023 Best and Fairest
He was intoxicated so was a bit clumsy in the way he said things. Media as usual is on full assault mode as they look to sensationalize every waking minute of the offseason. My guess is this will all blow over by the time we play them in about 8 months. If the Pies want to hold onto it, good on them, but it will be wasted energy.

I doubt it - he was half drunk at a BnF. It’ll be forgotten in 8 months time when we play them. The Brayshaw hit will be what is front of mind for every Melbourne player.

Nobody has mentioned Brodies name once. Not even a thank you. I think it’s clear who is in the wrong here.

Trade Rumours 2023
Sounds like JUH is about to be signed on a 4-5 year deal too. Would be interesting to see if English now sticks around. He would have to take significant unders for the Dogs to remain in the salary cap. It is also probably a sign that they are not going to try solve their defensive KP woes anytime soon.

Trade Rumours 2023
With both Tim English and JUH coming out of contract next year and the huge cap squeeze they will undoubtedly had. Which one do you chase? I dont think either qualify for FA, so it will be a Jackson scenario. Who do the Doggies chose as i think they will need to make a choice. English is a versatile ruck/forward, who will probably take over the ruck domination when Gawn retires. I cant see many challenging for the AA ruck position for the next 3-4 years. JUH on the other hand has really been underwhelming. Perhaps he isn't suited to playing in the same forward line as Naughton ? Or he was just overrated. I think he is the better target to chase as the Doggies do have a excess of KPF stocks. So it'll be JUH, Ben King, Cadman all potentially uncontracted after 2024. We should be lining up to land one of these prospects.

Trade Rumours 2023
I heard yesterday that we weren't even talking with Naughton's management. So not sure where that rumor started. I believe the interested clubs that ultimately led to his extension were Collingwood, Geelong, West Coast and Sydney. Sydney reportedly put in an offer of $11M-$12M for 10 years for his services. That is crazy.

I’m nor closed to it. Worth a late 2nd rounder at best. I think when fit he’ll be a better option than Langdon.

Trade Rumours 2023
We are over invested in insiders. I think we can all agree to this and the need for outside class. If you look at potential trade options excluding Clarry it’s really only Trac as the alternative that can attract the draft capital. And if the alleged behavioural issues are true to the extent they are having an impact on culture, then it’s possible that he has punched his own ticket.

Trade Rumours 2023
If as reported we are not trading anybody and potentially have room in our cap to spare, why wouldn’t you take Nick Haynes from GWS who has reportedly 1 year on his contract in exchange for GWS first pick (#6)? Im not sure if GWS have cap issues but surely it’d be worth it if we have cap to spare for the year and it would be unspent otherwise.

Trade Rumours 2023
Assuming you could get him why wouldnt you play McKay in the ground and have JVR and Petty as the deep forward. He’d provide a good target on the wing and is an ok field kick. Can he improve F50 connection? Who knows. I can’t see it being anything but picks 5 and 13 though, which I wouldn’t do. If it was 15 (or 10 or 11) and F1st then maybe
