Yeah that is really a peculiar outcome. I would have thought they had significant influence on the decision to host it on Thursday night. And really the only factors would be how to maximise crowd advantage and recovery. The other not so obvious factor would be for the additional recovery for the team that loses and will likely play on Friday night the following week. Also why does the loser of 1v4 play winner of 5v8 ? I would have thought that bracket should be playing the winner 6v7, given.

on the Thursday night aspect? I think it is well known that we don't have enough die hard supporters willing to turn up on a Thursday night. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what Collingwood actually wanted to get the crowd advantage. We just have to turn up. It is that simple.

That is an interesting way to think of it. The problem from his perspective is that none of those 3 are permanent fixtures in the 22. I'd think there are better players gettable that would fetch the amount covered by those 3 combined (or less)

I know there are many ways to measure the difficulty of the draw but if we go by the teams we played and the amount of wins they have had , I think you’ll find it was one of the easier draws compared to the other teams.
