  1. Yep no way would you give them a top 10 pick let alone 2 round 1s
  2. Ouch that one has to hurt
  3. Hang on #32 umpire is Sam McClure . I can tell by his hair.
  4. #32 umpire taking instructions from the Blues box
  5. #32 worst umpire blatant blues supporter
  6. Port are not good. Houston is not 2 first rounders. What % of goals has Curnow kicked from frees. Got to be the highest in recent history I’d think.
  7. Wow wee umpires shocking.
  8. Potentially - i dont recall how Power are on the trade front. We do have a reputation of being easy to deal - no doubt the SA's will try to take advantage of that situation. It would be good for us to have a few options running to minimise the perception of desperation.
  9. Jay Clark and the midweek tackle gang on Fox. Likely as their teams aren’t chasing him. But he’s ultimately named his destination which like LJ lowers his price somewhat. I think we work closely with Freo to split our pick and stay in the draft this year as best as well can. Freo are much beater positioned to go with two top 10 picks vs 1 + 2 late first rounders. But I am biased.
  10. Sheesh - is it known (publically) what has happened to him?
  11. I get your point. We really are at a juncture at the moment. I still think we have a premiership capable team. Despite Gawn's age, he is still at his peak - or close to it. May for me, is the one that is starting to show his age. Our midfield isn't old - actually its right where you want it to be to have a crack at a flag. ANB, Trac and Oliver and bang smack in their prime years, Rivers, Kozzy, McVee, Sparrow our young brigade. Windsor a puppy and Lingers still running strong. Viney is likely past his peak, but is still servicable and will give 100%. So do we shut up shop and do a mini rebuild? Its a real hard one and i change my perspective on this everyday. W Houston straightens us up and opens up a plethora of options. Frankly Bowey and Salem have been underperforming for a while and i think it shows with our ball movement and rebound.
  12. In the sh**show that is likely to follow this around its good to understand our potential competition. As it stands the usual draft candidates Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Geelong all sit higher on the ladder (and consequently in the draft) and dont (luckily) have multiple picks to satisfy Port's demand. Saints (another prolific club in the draft rumor mill) is in a bit of turmoil list management wise and are not in position to exchange their first pick for a mature age player. Hawks (#8) - need capital to bring in Smith. Given he is all but landed at Geelong (according to the media), they may switch their attention to Houston. So there will be some competition there. Richmond (#1) cant see it happeneing. They will take the best player available in the draft Norf (#2) Will likely take a KPD from the draft. Collingwood (#6) - handed over to Freo for Schultz...hahahaha So as i see it, the only real competition will be Hawthorn. The Hawks are not ready to go after the flag, perhaps in 4-5 years time, so it may not be the wisest choice.
  13. Can we split our pick with Freos 12 and 15? We may need to cough up a bit more to make it happen. Use F1 and 15 for Houston and keep 12 for the draft. Freo get two picks in top 10. Win-win?
  14. The omission of Sparrow is absolutely the right call. He is definitely in the firing line after the insipid performance on the weekend. This is the first time in a long time a (borderline) senior player has been omitted. I'm sure ill be corrected, but it is was long overdue given some of the performances this club has put up. Going after the junior players is an easy out and im glad this was done.
  15. You’re taking me a little out of context, but that’s ok. For the record - not that it matters- I want him to stay, I think he’ll be better for it in 2025. I’m not yet convinced he’ll ever get back to his best, but I know he’ll give it a shot. If he was to go, all I’d ask is that we are compensated fairly. It would be 2 first rounders and nothing less.
  16. It’s too much to give away to a player that only has 4-5 years to give. If this was 2 years ago, do it without battering an eye. I think it’s a 1st and a F2 at most.
  17. I think so too. He is athletically gifted, but I’m afraid he lacks a bit between the ears.
  18. The season is dead. I’d rather lose respectfully, blood the youth, get surgeries prior to pre season, and get a top 6-8 draft pick and focus on 2025.
  19. I’m not sure I agree. Purely from a performance perspective, he is a long way off his best. Even those that say his numbers are average, there’s a lot of instances in games where effort is not apparent, which isn’t the Clarry I know. I don’t want him to leave but if he can rediscover his best elsewhere and we get fairly compensated draft wise, I’d be happy to accept that outcome too.
  20. I agree l, I recall he was present from start to the camp. Then came back in Jan but was also training away from the group too. So it technically wasn’t a full pre season , but it wasn’t nothing either.
  21. He’ll be better.
  22. arrgggh re: Salem. poor fella, injury prone and body not holding up under the rigours of AFL. Hopefully his contract was front-ended so he can play out his days guilt free at the Dees.
  23. There is a mini reset due in the footy dept. we just have to have a fresh start on field and off. And I fear These guys will be making more trade moves that will hurt us for years to come. Hunter, Shache , McAdam, Fullerton, Billing’s In Jordon, Grundy Out are just some of the work in the last 3 years. I know hindsight is a gift, but that is an abysmal record.
  24. Yes but then there will be a world where we will still question their allegiance and integrity - just like we do with umpires. The club doctors at least know their players a bit better than a ring in.
