Maybe we give TMac another year as well. He did prove rather versatile down back and wasn't in the bottom 6-10 performers overall.
-
Are you suggesting a straight swap for Trac?
-
I think you have essentially answered your own question. We cannot prove that Trac has done this, but all roads lead back to him. Nobody inc club, Gawnie, Trac himself have come out to deny this. Its poor form, and the when the media getover the pile on Melbourne, will start to realise what Trac has (allegedly) done reflects more poorly on him than the club itself.
-
No player is bigger than the club. It is that simple. I don't pretend to know the specifics, but the way he has handled this situation has all but removed him from the running as Melbourne's next captain. I think equally, he would have lost a lot of trust and respect internally from other players. It actually shows a lot of immaturity and selfishness. It should have been dealt with behind closed doors. There is no legitimate reason this stuff has to be leaked into the media.
-
I dont think your far off the mark. We will never know 100% and so there will be those on here that will come after you, but it does appear that the main instigator of all of this has been Trac or those around Trac. I do understand his motivations but there are other ways to do this than the limelight. Its also possible that those around him have influenced his actions heavily of which i think he will eventually realise that it wasn't the right thing to do. He is contracted to do at least one more AFL 360 interview and has regular media gigs so his absence/presence will say a lot in the next few weeks.
-
At the end of the day, the club, players, fans will all move on from the specifics of the current issues. But it is the leaking that will take longer. How do you trust the player(s) responsible for this?
-
How so? I dont think it has any pre2021 vibes more like pre Roos vibes at the moment.
-
He’s wouldn’t go to anyone but a club in the window which immediately kills the deal because they don’t usually have the picks to get deals like this done.
-
Care to elaborate ? I have no idea in such things and am genuinely interested of what we should have done.
-
I agree re that it was more than likely said said, but to bring it into the public domain is what irks me a bit. I get that the publicity adds a touch more seriousness to it but it does come at a cost.
-
I forgot about that… Signs were definitely there.
-
Are you doing ok?
-
Well you can rule out ANB, which leaves Gawn, Trac, Lever and Viney. I don’t think I’m missing anyone.
-
So let me get this straight. All of this talk inside the club that supposedly didn’t happen has now caused Houston to change his mind. Have I got that right?
-
Sam Landesberger from Mid week Tackle just let slip on air the leak on ANB has allegedly come from the playing group.
-
No conflict of interest there. Made some good points. Mix of Melbourne supporters ringing up and having their say. Felt like reading DL with a few living in denial, others throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Was a good laugh.
-
Well if Houston is having doubts about us, other prospects will be too. What a shamozzle. Could he a blessing in disguise as pick 6 is overs for him. The way the media saying this is fair value (with ANB as part of the trade) is laughable. Where do they come up with this nonsense. The bloke is good - yes - but is 28.
-
Let me reiterate - Nobody can deny that Trac wants out / requested a trade. There has been plenty of opportunity to do that: Pert, Goody and Max have spoken and have yet to not deny this. The title of thread hence is appropriate and worthy of continued discussion. Note it is not called Trac will not be at MFC next year, if it was I’d then I’d be more inclined to agree with your opinion.
-
How they only have Pick 4 and 26. 26 was ours for McAdam and ANB does not equal McAdam. I’d love pick 4 but even I know that it’s overs. Do the Crows have other potential inbound picks from trades that they maybe doing? I did hear one of their defenders was on the trading block.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Gawndy the Great replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep I heard the same that he turned down the offer. Contract extension though did raise an eyebrow. Doesn’t he already have 2 years to run ? He’ll be 33 by the end of that contract… do we really need to be jumping at shadows atm? -
I’ll play devils advocate. Nobody not in any press event has actually come out and denied the rumour either. Correct me if I’m wrong here , but all I have heard is the reference to contract and that it will be enforced. Pert has said it, Goody has said and Maxy has said it but none of them have said that Trac wants to stay. It is my opinion only that this deliberate omission is in fact an admission of truth.

I still don’t understand why your hell bent on shutting down this thread. It makes absolutely no sense. If it makes you uneasy or uncomfortable do yourself a favour and don’t step into it. People are allowed to see things from a different perspective and feel comfortable to challenge the norm. It may be a clear cut, non story to you but others clearly are yet to settle on the clubs own narrative.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Gawndy the Great replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Or were as a direct result. Another great job by the scumbag MRO who didn’t even bother to sight the incident. Was the offender even fined? -
SENs Daniel Hoynes said last nights it’s been his best season in 6 years. He should be a lock for AA and become the best ruckman the game has ever seen. We are lucky to have this bloke. I just wish our other senior players could join him. Hopefully he’s still got another 3-4 years in him.
