The Premiership Window Closing?
Back to celebrating an AA jacket or maybe two and watching other teams in the finals series. I can’t even golf anymore to keep my mind off footy, which got me through the real tough years.

Time to go Goody?
That is 100% on the money. I’m not saying we go back to 2018 attacking style, but we have gone way over the top with defence. We have lost all dare and creativity. No wonder the effort is waning. This was genuinely a lost year - we gained nothing game plan wise. Yes saw some kids, but our plan is diabolical and rudderless. 2025 is not going to be smooth sailing if we keep this up. We need to see something, some positivity. Hell I’d even take winning 2 consecutive quarters.

Time to go Goody?
Bevo was close to getting booted this year. Funny how he has turned it around. We however go the other way.

Time to go Goody?
Double straight sets a success is it? Win at least one of those and we probably have a flag. I think it’s the right time for a FD reset. Things have turned stagnant and we need to search for our next premiership coach.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs Western Bulldogs
Trac and Oliver with a preseason, is not the difference here. Don’t be fooled into thinking everything in 25 will be all right. There’s losing and then there’s losing. This game should be over. Doggies should be up by 50 points. That is not a 1 -1.5 player difference. Yes we are banged up but guess what, guarantee you that half their squad is probably carrying something too. Goodwin has got this team playing so conservative and so slow that there is nothing positive about anything we do. The season is done, take the shackles off and play with some flare and positivity and implement changes now. Don’t wait until pre season.

Conspiracy theory for this week
I suspect #FreekickBulldogs will be in full tonight. 28-11. 4 goals from frees to Naughton and JUH; 2 from 50's with a real distance of 135m. 4 throwing free against Oliver; 0 against Libba. :D

Trade Targets
Waterman and Houston would be huge acquisitions IMO. The right ones too. Doesn’t completely solve the midfield issue or address the Ruck dilemma, however it will allow Petty to swing back as TMac likely to retire and put Rivers permanently into the midfield.

I’m not. Both have been below their best by a fair way.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
It is what i think every pre-season - so am sure its not that bad. I thought it would have been harder to keep the weight off without the exercise. Those with Mediterranean upbringings will know what i mean. Mum and Nonna would have been having daily bake-offs to ensure whatever Trac had lost weight wise would be put back on with a bit extra.

Oliver Trade Rumours
But we reverted back after the bye. So it tells me that we are in no man’s land. Players are confused, frustrated and without clear direction. The issues are deeper than most people care to admit. Our game plan is outdated. contest and defence has been superseded by fast ball movement from defensive half. We don’t have the ability to defend that nor do we have the ability to implement that. Houston will make us better if we continue down the new direction. But we still need a good ball user in the forward half too to complete the play. EG Lions rebound a lot through Zorko - why he isn’t getting tagged is beyond me - and a lot of their f50 connection comes from there midfielders in mcclugage and Neale.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs GWS
Perhaps. I dont see it that way. Goody tried to make adjustments to the gameplan to improve our turnover scoring issue. I think its safe to say it didn't work and we reverted back to our forward half pressure game, which also was inconsistent. Consequently we lost our ability to defend ball movement and have had the worst defensive record in the last 5 years. We are a bit lost from a DNA / gameplan perspective. These things need time / pre-seasons to sort out and hence why im a bit concerned for '25. Is it impossible, no its not - but it needs a lot of investment from the team and potentially some trades. The other aspect is our list management strategy, do we load up and trade again (ala Geelong and Sydney style) or do we take a slightly more conservative approach and plan for longer term success.
