Seems a bit taller. That’s a good start! Do we know anything more about Ryder? posi? Strengths ? Weaknesses?

Will only ever be a cherry on top player. I rated the kid a few years back and he hasnt come on like all expected. Unfortunately the difference between his best and worst is stark. Can win a game off his own boot all the way to cannot be sighted in an entire game. At 25 that gap is just too big for my liking given he would command a fair bit to pry out of Richmond.

Its a brutal assessment of his tenure and quite disrespectful. As bad as the last 4-5 years has been, to have it all on Simmo alone is outright criminal. The WA media should get a please explain as im sure their views dont represent the broad consensus. It is again this whole sensationalism to sell papers and get clicks - just where do these buffoons draw the line. I will still maintain that a senior coaches lifespan in the AFL system is 5-7 years. Anything more than that is an exception to the norm, especially if you havent won a flag. Its similar to the average games played in the AFL. Many would do we well to get to 100 games - something like 2/3's dont even make it passed 50 games.

Essendon 1 wood is outside uncontested footy. If it rains, it will be a scrap and dirty. As much as we suck in the wet, it will take away their strength.

One thing I know is I couldn’t do the job. Looking at previous years to think what if …Josh Kelly, Bont Curnow, McKay…add any 2 of that to Trac, Oliver… etc I’d be having nightmares

The guy will leave nothing on the table. Some kids have impressive talent and don’t get the most out of it, others achieve success through sheer grit and determination. Sparrow is in the later group. He is still skilful but I’d say he is average in decision making and ball use and that’s ok - there is a role for him to play.

Just looked at the ladder and thought we were two umpiring decisions away from 3rd spot. Carlton - 1 point loss; dangerous tackle against JVR should have been HTB has a shot with a high goal likelihood. Brissy - 5 point loss; ANB called deliberate ; plus many other BS calls. I wonder if anyone within the club would look at this and have a quiet convo with the AFL and say what’s what.

You can effectively nullify in stoppage in the way you setup. What you cannot do is let their tall run unaccounted for in Defence (intercepting) or forward (contesting marking). I think with Max out they'll only plan for 1 ruckman and have the 2nd spot to increase rotations elsewhere. We should name Gawn as starting with Fullarton as emergency and do the old warm-up fitness test so that they are stuck with an extra tall in their rotations.

Sparrow goes ok both ways too. Definitely a hard worker, clearly playing a defensive role in the team. Also Kolt has to get the rising star nom this week.

Sydney won’t win it. I think they are beatable - would you play your hand now or in finals? I’m almost prepared to say they’ll go straight sets. It’s a shame we fell off the face of the face of the earth this year, I think this will be one of the easier runs to a flag this year.
