  1. Things I noticed watching most of the second half, was, heads over the ball. on a cold winter day. Well played guys. Dunkley will play seniors before the year is out. reuss and Bradkie encouraging each other, KK will be an asset once he settles in and stays fit. Keilty to be delisted. Petty looks a better prospect.
  2. Great signing and that in itself says a lot about the young mans thought process and character.. He, no doubt had interest from other Clubs and could have taken that road which would have wiped his slate clean to start again. However he has stuck fat and backed himself and our Club resources to make a long term career at the Dees. I for one think he will make it to all our expectations. Our best key forward prospect since Neitz, Schwartz, who had lots of knockers early who said he could hold a mark and Hogan.
  3. Yes, and finished his career with us giving everything as a player. Does anyone know if he was offered a role by us upon retirement. Looks like another opportunity missed as he was red hot to continue his career in a coaching role
  4. I did not imply we would beat them. Just pointing out we have had a sprinkling of individual stars who have kept us older ones loyal over the years. Half Forwards Lyon Neitz Healy is also a ripper half forward line however Brereton Buddy Cyril is better.
  5. I take your point but individual lines could more than compete on their day. Centreline Melb Alves Wells Flower Hawks Dipper Wallace Eade
  6. Maybe. Need some context though. What would you give up for him Picket.
  7. The oval is currently in beautiful shape. Second smaller oval being redone next door. Ample room for development, in a direct line, only kilometers from the G, but all too late I believe as discussed here previously.
  8. Zac is a good NQR player or as Jack Dyer would have said, a good ordinary footballer. Not a criticism.Would not want to give up too much for him.
  9. May and Lever might yet be fine players for melbourne and no doubt we need quality defenders but imagine from a pure excitement point of view if we were bringing in two experienced first round pick, forwards or mids for this weeks game.
  10. My feeling too. We got one. It feels a bit like it must have felt for the sides like Carlton who had fantastic zones in the old days. Players just fell into their lap.
  11. Forget Yarra Park, I think we would be better suited to the Yarra Valley. Good wine, food, close to the snow . That should make the MCC mob happy.
  12. So true. We need young people, families and new arrivals to add to the traditional MCC based supporters.
  13. I do not know how Collingwood got into my sentence. I humbly apologise.
  14. Very true in relation to womens sport and community participation. I just do not get the Yarra park proposal in terms of building community. As for the G I still remember the day it ceased being our home ground alone. Long, long time ago. I have also never been clear whether Melbourne stands for that small CBD area or greater Melbourne. Certainly in my day suburban kids well outside the CBD and Collingwood were passionate supporters. Time to move move and create something exciting. If it is done right supporters will follow within a reasonable distance of the CBD.
  15. He reminds me of Carlton and Bulldogs Phil Maylin.
  16. I have not looked at a reply but on first view he looked as if he kicked it to go twice the distance it needed to
  17. Not a lot if at the G. At Elsternwick, Prahran or similar a lot more regularly. Personally I do not driving a bit if parking is fairly accessible. That said I would sacrifice my coffee for us to be based again at the G.
  18. I like what Carlton and Hawthorn have. A cafe/bar area where fans can have a coffee at the ground, interact discretely with staff while watching training.
  19. Oscar Baker is the best recruit we have had in a long time outside the high picks. Looks all the world like a 200 gamer.
  20. Yes, I understand that point of view, but the fact remains we lost and many of us knew we would at three quarter time.
  21. Simon Goodwin Comment- " I do not want to take anything away from Adelaide, Adelaide were good' I am not interested in hearing my coach say that about other teams. Just adds to the narrative that melbourne are too nice. I wanted to hear him say, Professional forwards are paid to kick goals. OK they missed, it happens, but they need to work harder at goalkicking and we will give them that opportunity. First up. Sam and Smithy take kicks from the same distance first thing Monday morning and they do not stop until they get 8 out of 10, maybe 10 out of 10 thereby reinforcing their confidence.
