  1. The partial answer is community facilities, community facilities, community facilities
  2. Fair enough, no probs, it is likely too late. I guess what bothers me is not hearing details of why things are ruled out and not knowing whether that is from poor communication by the Club or me not being in the know enough.
  3. Golf course is to be passive land use with natural vegetation. Likely too late to include that in a proposal.
  4. Damo. My recollection is that it also had sufficient car spaces.
  5. MCG Field size 171 m x 146 m Elsternwick Park 165 m x 145m You gotta wonder who does these survey reports.
  6. Not so in regard to residential area.It is part of a green area blueprint where the adjoining Golf course has been turned to passive recreation. Also adjoins a little used bowls club and tennis courts, so an ideal recreation-sporting precinct for cashed up residents. It may have been rejected but we need to persevere with available options and present convincing cases to benefit residents.
  7. Elsternwick Park should be seriously considered.
  8. I was not being literal in saying it is the second best choice compared to location..... I am saying there would be better long term choices available. And clearly all our supporters will never agree on a choice of location. I do not know what the best location is as I am not in a position to research all the options as MFC has had 50 odd years to do since we were the only tenants at the MCG.
  9. Unfortunately it is a second best choice and we must find a way to be better than that.
  10. No one iis suggesting we stop playing home games at the G.
  11. Yeah, I have found parking there as well a few times but had heard it is a factor in Hawthorns decision to move. If parking is manageable it is a great facility and fantastic for supporters with a cafe, merchandise area and clear viewing areas.
  12. Unfortunately Waverly now has severe parking issues due to being a full on and built up residual area.
  13. We certainly are, miles behind all other clubs.Quite literally the only Club without a home base.
  14. I think you need both. We are now into winter, it can be a cold and wet time, I believe players benefit from knowing and seeing supporters and interested onlookers around the Club facilities such as Hawthorn have at Waverly Park.
  15. Government land so need approvals. The Andrews Gov is against the plan.
  16. Agree entirely with your view. Unfortunately Vineys style is not to ease his way back into the game, it is crash and bash from the start. An admirable quality but some caution needs to be exercised with his history.
  17. Love to know who the someone who once said, "there s never a shortage of good ideas inside a footy club". And the MFC, that well know Silicon Valley hub of footy ideas. Naive perhaps. On the other hand there are 17 other Clubs who didnt think up the idea and only one, MFC who took up my idea the following season.
  18. I am very familiar with MFC and the Asian market as I am the person who put the idea to the Club for a students welcome day some years ago. I set out a whole strategy for attracting international students to Melbourne home games. The only difference being I proposed our members could sit with students and explain the game to them. I specifically gave the Club information on international student numbers in Melbourne as well as the opportunity it could represent for our corporate market. Sadly none of my emails were ever acknowledged at the time although the proposal was taken up the following season. When I finally received a response from the Club they informed me the key people in the Marketing Department had left the Club. I then advised them I had other ideas for the concept but they never got back to me. I was not looking for any recognition or money, just to have a better opportunity to further discuss my ideas.
  19. Maybe the Club needs to rethink the Melbourne in the MFC. Does it refer to the CBD and inner area around the G or the broader metropolitan area. Time to think for the present but also one or two generations ahead. Thhe hawks got out of hawthorn and the rest was history. And now they have the foresight to be moving from Waverly.
  20. No chance of Yarra Park getting up without the support of the State Govt, Council and Local Community groups. Waste of Club resources to be looking at it. We have Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and the Kangas all in the greater City area . We are seriously outflanked and out muscled. Maybe Casey has the best chance of attracting State Government dollars for development and game hosting as the Bulldogs are proposing. Not sure how the players would feel about being based out there though.I like all of us love the G but would also love the idea of playing, say Freo or Gold Coast at our own home ground with a sellout Demons crowd.
  21. That is the risk we run and you could not blame him if he did.
  22. Pulled beer when I was studying, Grand Final Eve, lunchtime 76, in strolled Mick Nolan, the Galloping Gasometer, Couple of pots later, a bit of a chat and he bid his farewell.
  23. Does this mean he is 3-4 weeks away? What was he before the timeline changed?
