  1. Recent equality laws introduced now mean that they can both self identify as quality teams and your words considered to be hate speech.
  2. Collingwood's jumper possibly the worst since every single one Hawthorn have ever worn.
  3. I'm feeling your pain Cards. I spent most of the afternoon in a sake bar in Fitzroy followed by a couple of cheeky cocktails on the way to the ground. After the game it was back to The Tippler on Wellington Parade until they shut up shop at 1am. Messy. As for those Richmond supporters you mention, as far as stereotypical fan profiling goes I'd sooner be known for the trappings of first world excess than their reduced cognitive ability.
  4. That was an entertaining game in Launceston played by two pretty awful teams. How nice it is to be able to say that.
  5. If the game ends up at Marvel I wonder if they will still allow crowds as North will effectively be midway through a 2 week quarantine process, won't they ?
  6. Reading the whole post match thread with a coffee after a very big day and night. Great to see so many happy Demonlanders. Enjoy your Sunday, people!
  7. If we can play with the same pressure we brought against Geelong with a bit more accuracy in front of goal we'll go a long way towards winning this one. It should be a cracker tonight. Filled with genuine confidence.
  8. BT carrying on like it's the frozen tundra of Green Bay.
  9. Moves are afoot to rename them the GWSACT Giants. And the LGBTQIA+ Giants during pride week.
  10. We're effectively saying we can beat the reigning premiers without Weids and Ben Brown. I like it.
  11. We should have the Saturday time slot that the Hawthorn v North game has in Tassie on round 9.
  12. All teams are equal but some are more equal than others.
  13. Bombers v Roos at 4.40pm on a Sunday evening is probably the definition of trash time tv. Shows how far both theirs stocks have fallen.
  14. Geez. That was a breath of fresh air compared to the cliche ridden crap we have to endure on CH9 & CH7. He went for a whole 1 minute 40 seconds without calling anyone or everyone a champion, legend or star. Wowee!
  15. I sincerely hope it is Pates but if he is promoted to the senior side this week it's just as likely he'll be dropped back to the magoos within a month to find some form.
  16. Hi MF-C. I don't disagree with your assessment. However, he misses far too many easy set shots. One in particular comes to mind when I was in Darwin to see him miss a sitter from 20 metres out directly in front in perfect conditions to cost us the game. He'll play a blinder then go missing for weeks on end. If I had to choose one of them to kick a crucial goal after the siren it would be Ben Brown every time.
  17. Well, at least we know now that only one of Sam Weideman or Ben Brown are a possibility to get the nod from the selectors this week. If both have now ticked all the boxes in their rehab I'd like to see them take a punt on the latter as I feel Sam is just too unreliable in his kicking for goal, something we don't need to add to right now.
  18. Don't know how they can have a super league without the famous Glasgow Rangers. That aside, this much vilified midweek league is just the end game of allowing oligarchs and hedge funds to own football clubs. Blind Freddie could have seen this day coming. It's all well and good criticising the football clubs concerned but as the Jurgen Klopp interview today illustrates these decisions have been made unilaterally by their owners, not the season ticket holders, players or managers. Anyone truly disgusted by the news should be aiming their outrage at the governing bodies of Spain, Italy and England as well as UEFA. who have allowed these people into the game and then bent over backwards to accommodate their demands. As far as I'm concerned the Champion League lost it's credibility when it started allowing teams that finished as low as fourth in their domestic league to qualify and then have them drop into the UEFA Cup if they fall at the first hurdle. Fans want integrity ? Go back to having the champions alone of each European nation qualify for the continent's premier knockout tournament. Not good enough to win your domestic league ? That's what the Europa League is for.
  19. Sorted. N53 on deck 2 of the Northern Stand again. Back row, right next to the bar. Same bay as my regular seat. Bring on Saturday.
  20. I think this may have started way back when South Melbourne moved up to Sydney. The scoreboard at the back of the old grass hill had two enormous speakers that pumped out that awful "Show 'Em Sydney" chant after every goal. We copped a few hidings up there in those days so it felt like they were playing it on a loop some years.
  21. It's a good question. Bottom line is if we don't gain financially from their members attending our game then I would want to limit how many of them get into the ground. We should take any advantage we can get.
  22. Hi DJ. I was thinking along the lines of all of the Richmond fans that attend are likely to be season ticket holders and therefore of no financial gain to us anyway. Better to keep them out of the ground and have a higher ratio of our fans in attendance on the night.
  23. Leaving the finances aside for a moment, as we seem to have a finite membership base and have first dibs at buying tickets wouldn't a 75% attendance limit on Saturday night just prevent 25,000 Richmond members from getting into the ground ?
  24. Just turned on the Sydney v GWS local derby (pronounced darby) and by my count there are around 10 giants fans in the entire crowd. At this rate they must be close to reaching peak insignificance.
  25. It's interesting to read how we all interpret each game as part of a broader picture. Through experience I've found that riding the anticipation, grief and joy of each game works best for me and the future will take care of itself. In terms of our football club at least it's totally out of my control anyway so why worry about it ? Being brought up on a code that extends for 10 months of the year I've always found an AFL season to be all so brief in comparison and every weekend of it to be cherished and lived to the full so I'm not going to spoil this one by worrying about the next two. This season will be over before we know it otherwise.
