GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Given our fourth quarter drop offs, we could be looking at a very ugly margin. Can't even begin to comprehend how badly we are going to get smashed by freo next week.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Garry, i get it, we can't score, we can't deliver the ball inside 50, but we don't need to hear it every 2 minutes.

Time to go Goody?
As a denver fan myself, this was a ridiculous move considering the playoff's are 3 games away. IMO a move like this has to destabilise the team and jeopardise their chances at a successful playoff run (even though the ownership has cited the sacking as a catalyst to hopefully winning another championship). But more to the point of this thread, Denver shows us the completely opposite end of the spectrum to the place we find ourselves in. We've got one head office that really hasn't shown as much respect as it should for a head coach that coached the team to their first ever nba title, but is managing their franchise in an aggressive way in hopes of securing the best outcome. And on the other hand, we've got Melbourne who seem to be hanging on to Goody from a deep position of respect, but are ignoring the downwards trend our team has displayed for the last 18 or so months. Surely there's a middleground between these two points we can strive for. I don't think managing your coaching staff from an ultra-aggressive standpoint is constructive, but surely there has to be an acceptance that we can, and always will respect goody for what he did for us, but acknowledge that it's time for someone new to take us into the future.

PODCAST: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Is there light at the end of the tunnel? And I mean that in the short to medium term, obviously if you look far enough into the future I'm sure you could contend good times are coming, but grounding ourselves in this season and next for example, is there something for us to look forward to from a team performance perspective? I'm not trying to be facetious but I'm wondering where to from here, we gave imo really good effort for three quarters and played some good footy within that and we still never looked like threatening from a scoring perspective. Maybe the argument is we need to give 'the new gameplan' more time but I'm not convinced on what we have delivered so far that either a) we have a discernible new game plan or b) that even if we do, its an effective one. It seems like after the first month we should be reassessing expectations compared with pre-season discussions, but what should those new expectations be? Interested in whatever thoughts the boys have?

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Out: Petty, Sharp, Spargo, Fritsch Ins: Lever, Laurie, Billings, Fullarton I know the mere suggestion of Billings will be rebuffed. Maybe you look at Sestan or Mentha as well. Kynan Brown maybe gets another chance.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
This 100%, absolutely spot on DemonDman. Since we lost Burgo, to say our fitness has regressed would be an understatement. Our horribly sub-par final quarters has to point blame at our fitness team.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Maybe the one silver lining that game reveals, Geelong aren't going to do anything of note this year, yeah they'll win enough games at taxpayer stadium to get into the 8, but they aren't really a contender.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
A pretty decent effort for 3 quarters and a pretty abysmal effort in the last quarter. Skill execution just not to the level. Also umpires can gagf'd as far as i'm concerned, took away all our momentum in the third when we were coming.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Im not very optimistic about tonight, but I'm still excited to tune in and watch the boys (pretty sure i'm in the late stages of stockholm syndrome by now) I'm not fussed if we lose, I just want to see buy in to this new game plan we keep hearing about, because if that happens, i'm sure we will be competitive a la GWS in round 1. I just don't want to watch the last two weeks on repeat tonight. Time for Max, Vines, Tracc, Fritta and Co to lead from the front, the young lads crack in each week and so far this season, it is our older more experienced campaigners that can learn a lesson from the rookies. Tonight will be telling, will the response come?? Go Dees!

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Jack (at the moment) is like the park cricketer who can't field for the life of him, so you stick him at fine leg and hope he won't leak too many runs or drop any catches. Difference is there's really nowhere to hide on a football ground where a mistake isnt costly. He's in awful form, but form which we all know he can play himself out of, definitely agree that a tagging style role could be beneficial to help regain some confidence but also beneficial from the standpoint that it suits the proverbial toolkit he has available to him. Not sure he ever really has had the disposal to be the last kick going inside f50 and without ANB to be the link man, I would be much happier with a plethora of others in that role. (not asserting that is his role but his delivery going inside 50 is among the worst in the team and so a more defensively minded midfield role could avoid it) I love jack and i'm sure he'll have a 30 disposal two goal, 10 tackle game soon and be back to his best. just a matter of time.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
I seriously didn't think I'd be saying season over in round 3, but here we are. Based on the last two weeks we are a real shot at a winless season and picking up the spoon. If McQualter hadn't succeeded in making our midfield the worst in the comp, then clearly Jones is trying his best to continue the mantel, i've never seen a midfield group so impotent and bereft of any ideas or gameplan. I've been critical of goody before but more often than not i've given him the benefit of the doubt. I can no longer in good conscience accept that he is the man to lead us. So let's get this straight, we spent 12 years in the wilderness, competed for 1 year, back to the doldrums for another 2 before 3 years of being a good side and its back to the bottom again. So thats 4 years out of the last 18 that we've been competitive. Feels like we're in for another neeld era stretch, gonna be a long season and I've got a bad feeling with Tassie coming we could be in for another 5-10+ years of irrelevance.
