Huh? I can repeat what I said if you like - the trade was EFFECTIVELY McAdam for ANB. The same pick. One was an incredibly durable and selfless premiership player, had played 180 games and had just finished 3rd in the best and fairest. He walked into his new club and was appointed vice captain within a month. The other (who's actually older!) had played 50 games, never more than 15 in a season and was in and out of the team in a side that consistently finished in the bottom 6 in his time there. Dress it up how you want, and I'm actually not a Tim Lamb basher, but that is an absolutely catastrophic trade result.

Interesting all the love on here for Culley. I think he's shown a couple of decent signs, and probably shoudn't have been delisted by West Coast, but I'd be very surprised if he's in our best 22 when we're challenging again.

McAdam may be the nicest bloke in the world but right now the (effectively) McAdam for ANB trade goes down as one of the worst in AFL history. I'd have thought he'd be absolutely bending over backwards trying to rectify that.

Yep it doesn't seem to make any sense. Norf are getting this year's pick 11 from Carlton with their pick 25 and a future 2nd. GC's first rounder and this year's pick 37 would appear to be more valuable than that.

Intrigued to hear he said no trading up or down. Would've thought it made sense to talk that up as a live option in order to keep Essendon honest so they don't manipulate their picks, regardless of whether we were actually ever going to do it or not. Still, there's a reason why he's very good at what he does so just have to back him in!

Would be a disaster if Farrow, Robey, Cumming and Taylor were the four taken by Richmond and Essendon. We've been praying either Grlj or Sharp gets taken so one of the above slip through.

Forgive me for my limited knowledge of the AFLW team but isn't Bannan one of our better/more recognised players? Form slump or just overrated?

Our only card to play now if it goes that way is putting it out there that our pick 8 is available to the highest bidder. Another team could still be desperate to land Sharp and happy to pay up for that pick, meaning hopefully this possibility spooks the Bombers into taking him with one of their earlier two picks.

But that's because Kozzy and Watson are really good players. You don't reach for a completely different player that's not of the same quality simply because they play the same position.

Order definitely changes as recruiters go to work on background and off field stuff between the end of season and the draft.

Those double ups are a disgrace for a team that's finished bottom 6 two years in a row.

I've got no idea why people come out with definitive statements like this when they don't actually know what they're talking about. Twomey, The Age and The Herald Sun have all independently linked us to Nairn with our early picks and said we're heavily into him. Taylor has consisently gone against the grain with early picks. Just cos phantom drafts have players in certain spots doesn't mean he'll just blindly subscribe to them. We may pick him, we may not. But "we aren't picking him" is just nonsense.
