Dan Houston
Good on him and good on Port. Nice to see.

2024 All Australian Squad
Gawn now one ahead of Cox and indisputably the best ruck since Simon Madden. Absolute legend!

2024 All Australian Squad
Gawn will make it. This is a popularity contest like the under 22 side that left McVee out. Two blokes in from a team that won 3 games just isn't going to happen.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Robbo on 360 of the view he'll formally request a trade.

2024 All Australian Squad
Congratulations to Max. It's a great achievement and well deserved. Staggered Marshall from St Kilda didn't get listed.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
Quite possible he goes before our pick. Huge scope with this guy according to someone I trust.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
Don't underestimate Reid. He's coming with a rush. He's highly regarded.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
Don't trade it! With Levi Ashcroft a likely number 1, we will have a choice of one of Jagga Smith, Finn O'Sullivan, Murphy Reid, Harvey Langford, Sid Draper or Josh Smillie. All should be excellent AFL players.

How many years until our next premiership?
Could be as soon as next year if we get the next 5 or 6 months right. There are reasons for our decline which we have some control over. There are also reasons we have little control over. We lost by less than a kick to three highly credentialled finals teams in the last 6 or 7 weeks - Brisbane, Port and GWS. That was far from full strength/health. I completely disregard Friday's result. 6 day break off a very warm day game on the Gold Coast - a bizarre fixturing move, and missing a big number of key players. We are not far away despite all the doom and gloom. And we get a bottom 6 draw!

DEMONLAND 2024 PLAYER OF THE YEAR
He's had a stellar year. One of only 6 players to average over 17 CD ratings points for the year - the others are Bont, Cripps, Heeney, Serong and Neale. That is some decent company. He should win his third Bluey and his 7th AA. Congratulations Max.

Kate Roffey
Re any president - they come and they go, usually with reputation diminished. That is the lot of public office. I admire Roffey's ability to keep out of football matters - that is a massive plus. Time will tell on the other important off field matters.

VOTES: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Was a hard watch at the ground. Defensively really poor. Votes are difficult to give in this one but there were three standouts for us who everyone has identified. 6. Gawn - beat Cameron convincingly on a night that didn't favour the big men. 20 disposals at 75%, 13 contested, 5 clearances, 5 marks and 3 of those contested as well as 25 hit outs. 5. McDonald - a heap of intercept marks. Did a decent job on Hoskin-Elliott who wasn't a major influence. A good end to a decent season and worthy of another 12 month contract. 4. Pickett - Koz looked our most dangerous and destructive forward all night. When he's on he plays with real spirit and last night he had it. 3. Salem - a massive second quarter, where he amassed half his total stats for the game. He is creative but also costly. Hopefully a full preseason might see him back to 2021 standard. But he was ok last night. 2. Chandler - covered ground but not great in the contest. At least provided options. Not enough tackles for a small forward but wasn't horrible. 1. Billings - much like Chandler but slower. Still he worked hard. Tholstrup did a couple of nice things. As for the rest, very little to report. Congratulations to Gawn on his outstanding season. He is a true warrior and a deserved winner of the Demonland POTY.

THE GREATEST PLAYERS IN MELBOURNE DEMONS HISTORY
Would possibly flip Neitz and Lyon but that is a great top 5. Hard to believe Lyon still isn't in the AFL Hall of Fame.
-
Premiership Hero Ben Brown Retires
He played a major role in the 21 finals series. And a great bloke. Has a big future with our AFLW program I'd imagine. Thanks for everything.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
On the Couch tonight - Lyon supremely confident that Viney is staying and an extension will be announced this week.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
I know CD rating points aren't everyone's cup of tea, but in the game v North Xerri scored 7.9 which is his lowest rated game for the season. Gawn rated 18.5. Second time v Brisbane Oscar scored a whopping 7.1 to Gawn's 10.3. Gawn 16.5 v Briggs 14.0and that was Max's first game back from injury, but anyway his season has been so up and down that even in his down games he's still better than the bloke playing on him. (You are right that Grundy go the better of him in round 0 but we all know the reason for that).

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
The most influential Demon of my lifetime and pretty close to the best ever player - probably only Flower ahead of him. The greatest ruckman of this century and the best since Simon Madden. And still playing at an elite level. A tremendous leader as well. Thanks for the show of faith Max!

Dan Houston
More likely 4 or 5. 5 would kill off any chance of a premiership for him, which is a bigger punishment than anything else they can dish out. It's a shame for him because he has been a very fair player over his career.

VOTES: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
A really great team effort, driven by our leaders. 6. Viney - his best game of the season 5. Langdon - a brilliant running dispaly all day 4. Gawn - 9 goal to 1 when it was Gawn v Witts in the ruck. 3. Turner - an important role and got better 2. McDonald - steady and dependable all day. 1. Petty- some big marks and always a target Honourable mentions - Salem was great early and still decent all day and Neal-Bullen worked his way into it.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
He's a small man in big man's body. Generally hits to his feet, creates a contest, lays a tackle and goes again. His clearance work creates turnovers mostly. He can't mark and he can't defend and he doesn't kick goals. None of this is news. It was a terrible decision to recruit him in the first place. I am pleased that King and co have finally noticed. Lucky for the swans that they have an incredible midfield (and that Collingwood are still paying a big chunk of his salary).

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
A big loss if this eventuates. An important leader. And a great role model. Will most likely be top 5 in the Bluey this year. But if he wants outs we'll get it done fairly. Adelaide seems a better fit for him than Port.
