  1. All aboard the curse breaker. Departing from berth '65.
  2. A devine conception at Christmas time (preseason preparation), for a miraculous berth in September.
  3. Don't think you are right. It is a supply and demand thing, not a cost and balance arrangement. The big money really comes from the broadcast rights. The viewers don't see or hear the stadiums "carry on". Too expensive ($1 000 and $10 000) and not many go and they lose interest. As a result, the games have no atmosphere. Broadcasters pay less for the rights. Advertising is not as productive and profitable. Just shooting themselves in the foot if they charge that! The same may happen to the crowd (less will go), if the "entertainment" becomes intrusive, and it could be heading that way. It seems they are trying to artificially create atmosphere. It doesn't work for most (possibly ok for juvenile minds). Atmosphere is more intense, when it is spontaneous and natural. Hoping the sponsors will recognise that soon, as I don't like the intrusive and annoying noise, hype and lights. The masses will always dictate the terms. That is why the minority will attempt to manipulate the masses and spin doctors and advertisers get the big bucks. Power belongs to the people, always has, always will. If only we could all be self/independent thinking and not be led down the path of illusions. In other words we own the game, not the corporates.
  4. Jones and Melksham can both have an important role at Casey. They are leaders and would really straighten up the young players. Jones can get back and help with the midfield, and Melksham can help the forward structure. They may enjoy it. Their experience will set up young players for the big stage and both will be waiting in the wings if MFC are injury hit. If form comes back to them, they get a call them up. Be great if they can also play next year in Casey, for the same reason, of giving a bit back. Jonesy, midfield coach and player. Casey has a chance of a grandfinal birth, given their good start to the season and our list.
  5. The days when tested, infected and contagious are all different. Easy to fall between the gaps as the guy from Perth who picked it up in the hotel showed. I assume the medical science people are onto that and wouldn't put the community or the AFL at any risk.
  6. Foxsport is suggesting that the lockup period may finish on Wednesday for North. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2021-north-melbourne-round-7-covid19-fixture-news-tasmania-north-melbourne-vs-melbourne/news-story/88c0eee6696bbdc79ab555f0b1d9fba4 It also says all teams will travel on Charted flights. So it a good possibility that we share a flight with them down to Tassie. Hope none of North players have covid! Just being silly, in AFL management I have trust in their decisions!
  7. Saw an interview, where a North player talked from his home. The lock-up is at their own home. So, less time for them to bond and the restrictions of isolation remain difficult for them.
  8. We must be hungry for success. Bring in some new blood, BBB and/or Weids. Part of that hunger includes putting struggling teams to the sword. Hope there are moments in the game that looks like a training drill, so we can create some beautiful and smooth ball movement from back to the forward line. I expect North to give 100% for the entire game. We are now a target for teams to knock us of the pedestal. One game at a time, though the dogs (oops not dogs, but Sydney) in two weeks will be another good test for us. This game could set us up, or create a mental struggle for when we play them (Sydney probably less of a problem). We will be training with a smile again. North will be stressed from the lock up. They really are at rock bottom and being all locked up together may start a bit of a line in the sand discussion and develop some cohesion and selflessness. Beware the wounded beast!
  9. I think Tmac doesn't have to go the wing. He could be a very high half forward. Taking marks near the 50 arc and converting is a great asset, as he works up and down the flanks using his endurance running. Also, giving a marking outlet for the backline kick. A defender would have to follow him, which could cause a bit of confusion in the oppositions system. This would give more space for Fritta and BBB, to lead into, as an uncongested forward area could develop.
  10. I see a few clubs doing this. Dogs for sure, possibly WC, and Tigers, though not when they played us. We must have put too much pressure on that strategy. In our game, I thought when the Tiges got the ball at the stoppage they attempted to go forward, and break the line quickly. Often the outlet is a one or two, out the back, with another running hard a bit laterally to receive the last handball and release ball by foot to leading players or make a switch and change entry angle into the 50.
  11. It is only a joke, though repeated, it is good to be able to laugh at ourselves I think it is much better stereotype than most of the other clubs. Means we are generally, financially stable and enjoy adventure. Humour based on classisms. One of the last bastions of politically incorrect statements allowed.
  12. The tiges need to get a win. If they are any good then it will be a great game. They looked flat against us, with lots of passengers. It won't be, happy training sessions with lots of jokes. They also have one less day to recover than the dogs. Dogs gave GWS a look in, up until the last quarter. Dogs should be favourites. The tigers try and win the easy way. That is with minimal time in control of the ball. They can go quickly when they have it. The rest of the time is like an arm wrestle. Lock it in, get stoppages and force turnovers in dangerous areas. Their system didn't work well against us. We absorbed the pressure, gave some back and repelled from our backline.
  13. They have given us a bit of motivation. We will review and talk about them pushing the line to whack, take cheap shots and niggle us. Goody can fire us up the next time we meet, and get us combative right from the start..
  14. I think they should mix it up. Try new structures, see if they fit. We have some great endurance runners who are working hard up and down the field. Can see Langdon, Oliver and Tracc, putting forward pressure in there, as Tmac, Jackson and Weid move up the field. Our smalls lock the ball in the forward area. Didn't see Melksham or Jones doing much of that. Our smalls crumb the packs. Didn't see Melksham or Jones doing much of that. Moving a small/medium out of the structure may give more room to Kossie, ANB and Spargo. Kossie, ANB and Spargs have been running all over the field. . Really not sure if the like for like, is absolute.
  15. It is only an opinion. The other player are big boys and understand if that will happen. They probably know he is not at his best and got him through to his 300th. Someone has to make way, so we can find our best fit and get others match fit to AFL standard. Jones and Melksham's best attributes are linking, assits into the 50, and 1 on 1 play. Melksham seems to be boundary side, and not getting enough of the ball. Jones is linking well but not putting enough quality ball into the 50 area. Our inside 50, and 1 on 1's, are being dominated by Fritta. I'm sure the coaches have told him and others of their expectations. He will be there in the wings, come injuries or underperformances. Why be so assertive with your own opinion? It could happen sooner or later.
  16. Injuries through the season will unbalance us if we don't give players a run after playing well for Casey. We need cohesion with a good 26 to 28 players. There must be some with niggles, to make way for those knocking at the door. Rewards for good play in the 2's, must be there. Tough decisions for the committee. Jetts, Baker, Weids, B. Brown, Bedford, Lockhart, Chandler, possible ins. Harmes will get a run in the 2's, as well as Sparrow for an entire game, (IMO). Melksham, Jones, Kossie (managed), Jordon (managed), Fritta (managed), Rivers (managed), Spargo (managed), possible outs. Thought Fritta got hit a few times, River puts his body on the line, kossie had a hit to his leg, Spargo, I was exhausted just seeing how hard he worked, Jordon playing on hard nuts in the middle of it. My guess would be In: B. Brown and Weids Out: Melky and Jones
  17. Would like to get @Half forward flankback on the thread. Hff if you're out there, come back into the fold. We are flying and I for one, would like your input. He left the "D'land" when he felt bullied or misunderstood for his opinions about a couple of threads.
  18. We took control and maintained it. Great defensive line. Amazing effort. Good system, working together, knowledge of each others strengths, marking again, not many brain fades or unforced errors, matured play. Have we broken the Tiger? There backs are against the wall now. See if they are up to it this year when they play the dogs. They did look ordinary, lots of forced errors. Others have difficulty playing well against us. We have such a good press, and run with game. Aren't the players happy? Aren't the supporters happy? Stick to it Dees, it is a long season, and we are in a great place to belt it, (Hate to see us fall). Thanks MFC.
  19. Changed our strategy to doing more handballs. Giving them no space. Taking out their best players. We have a fairly open forward line when we move quickly. What will the brain trust think of this quarter? Gee Tige's make tbe opposition earn it when we are around the ball, mostly line ball I would say. C'mon umpire, protect the man infront or with the ball.
  20. What is the atmosphere, there at the G?
  21. Two emergencies, one medical sub. Perhaps 3 emergencies with Petty.
  22. How was Sparrow? Did Vanders play?
