Agree umpires are influenced by home crowds, particularly interstate and at Geelong where typically home team fans 95% plus of the crowd! Umpires make errors, are blindsided at times, thought Blues got away with 2-3 one handed throws that led to goals in the first! We did get a bonus goal when McGovern? Wasn’t paid an obvious mark. while typically I don’t think umpires try to disadvantage particular teams, when Umpire#22 appeared at the start of the game, I did think this won’t be good for the Demons, and he didn’t disappoint, seemingly biased against us as always!

As soon as #22 turns up, you know where not getting any 50/50s it’s like 10 vs 90! But it wasn’t umpires that cost us the game, it was a combination of Carlton starting hot, playing very well , and the ball falling in their laps in first quarter.

I was very interested in expected score last year, but after the finals lost interest! I’m sure they do analyse all aspects!

Expected score counts for nothing at the end of the day. We beat the Pies and Blues in last years finals on expected score. Unfortunately Pies won the flag. Expected score win and you lose the actual game = bad kicking is bad football!!!

Pettys best half of football this year was down back. If he starts badly up forward, I suggested to swap Petty with TMac, not a permanent move. Also TMac seems in better shape this year movement wise, versus last year where his movement was more like turning the Titanic!

I feel Marty Hore is like JJ was, gets ball, stops, looks, looks again, everyone manned up and then kicks it! Plus fumbles a bit! Much prefer stick with giving younger players a go than Marty! I realise many others think he is good, but not for me. I would like to see Hunter come in, probably Woey go out, as the one change this week! If Petty starts slowly, move him back and TMac forward for this week.

Playing 8 players 50 and under games, giving them opportunities to see who stands up. Once we can bring back 2 or 3 of Salem, Bowey, Hunter, McAdam, and Melksham it will add a bit of stability and quality kicking skills that will make a difference. Give Petty another 4-5 games to recover from his foot injury and he will come good! Poor skills in 1st half, but 10 goals in 2nd half, Turner kicking 3, it’s not all doom and gloom! We have 16 more weeks to get everything right, a bit of luck and you never know! Versus last years [censored] luck with injuries in the last 8 weeks that killed us!

Holding the ball didn’t seem to apply for the Crows, lots of 360’s then a handball or just let ball drop for no frees!! Still happy, if we had those umpires against Port we would have lost!

Good kicking is good football! Bad kicking cost us a couple of finals last year! I prefer good kicking!!!!!!!

Sometimes you just have to find a way to win, and the Demons did it! ANB top game, Langdon back in form, and BBB making a big contribution. It’s terrific to see BBB and TMac back in form, I thought their injuries had finished them last year, a great bonus for the team to have them in good health!

ANB has kept improving every year, like a fine wine, getting better with age, a highly valued member of the team!

Jack has been a great player for the Demons, 100% effort every game.

It’s hard for Melbourne to win by more or kick more goals when 30-40% of the game is Hawks playing kick to kick in their backline!

Agree and when he had chance in finals last year against Blues was a no show! Depth but no star!

Thanks Angus for your huge contribution in our flag year and for everything you’ve done for the Demons over your career! Best of luck for the future particularly your health! AFL will eventually have a massive law suit against them, and their inaction on Maynard’s blatant career finishing hit, will come back to haunt them.

Feels like we let the flag slip away this year! Shocking goalkicking! Forward connection average, also impacted by terrible goal kicking! Forward half injuries, Oliver injury! Brayshaw being taken out!! 2024 should be amongst it again! Go Demons!

Did Dunstan play a game this year? Did Harmes play a good game this year? JJ was poor in loss against Blues, player 22-26 on our list.

We got too many injuries in one part of the ground: Bbb TMac Petty Melksham Fritsch. Could connection have been better - definitely. Could goalkicking have been better - definitely. Just this component improves 10% and we are playing this weekend in the Prelim finals. If Petty & Melksham were available in finals, both of the above would have been better! Question - Who would you chase as a forwards coach? Forwards you would chase?

Tomlinson is needed if May goes down. Otherwise see him getting similar opportunities to this year.

In future if Maynard gets off: - every player can launch themselves late into the air to smother - not be anywhere near the ball - not have time to turn their body - hit the player in the head - and take out opposition player - no punishment - as it’s a footy act! A joke, total BS!!
