PODCAST: QF vs Collingwood
Part 1: While there is massive carry on over losing, a few observations: - Pies generally cleaner with the ball and get better entries as often on the break into clear forward line, also Sidebottom excellent passes were a highlight in the fast half for Pies ☹️ - Demons not as clean with ball, lots of entries into crowded forward line, but we still had multiple shot on goal where we should have done better, probably left 18 points slip in Q4 alone - Brayshaw being taken out, unsettled Demons in 1st quarter and also hurt us for rest of game So only losing by 7 points is frustrating but we can beat the Pies! Re the forward line misfiring, losing BBB, Petty and Melksham or equivalent is going to damage any forward connection! Add in TMac and Fritsch injuries just hurts each players form coming back. Fritsch kicks his shank from 40, like he normally would and I think we go onto win the game! JVR out, creates opportunity to bring Grundy in! I would ruck him 80% first half, Max at FF in goal square Pickett or Chandler next to him, and let Fritsch go we’re he wants to in forward line and every other for more on 50 metre arc or higher! One defender on Max won’t cut it, so the extra defender going to Max, leaves a free player, who must then go to space! If not working at half time move Max into ruck 80% and flip around! Your thoughts on Max one out in the square, ideally with Kossie? Part 2: Defensively as McKay is likely out, bring in Turner, Lever plays miles better with extra tall. Also with Rivers, McVee, Bowey, Hibberd and Salem we can cover Carlton small options and revert to only two talks in the backline if required! Agree or disagree? Ins/Outs JVR - Grundy (reasoning above) Brayshaw - Jordon (most like for like available) Laurie - Turner (Laurie unsighted, Turner helps Lever) Sub - TMac (Forward line was too tall and didn’t take enough marks last week, so TMac, JVR and Smith 3 talls replaced with Max/Grundy and Smith) Smith or Grundy not working bring in TMac mid/late 3rd qtr! Thoughts ? Effectively Forward: Max FF deep trying for one out Smith CHF playing high Thanks for the podcast, you guys are terrific!

Should be 11 and then you change the actions!!

Maynard must get at least four weeks
I think they should get Richardson, Dangerfield and Maynard to be interviewed by Danny Frawleys wife and daughter Danielle on TV! To talk about how they are treating duty of care & CTE! pack of hypocrites! and Gil & Dillon & Christian!

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Add braced to protect himself! Hunter turned to protect himself earlier in year and other player dived into him! Hunter got suspended!

POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
1st quarter Maynard taking out Brayshaw unsettled the Demons. Pies went the man early, Cox 1st ruck contest into Max! Rest of game, Demons kick slightly straighter and we win! On a night where we weren’t great! Made life hard for ourselves, but there is still hope! Last qtr Maynard hits Kossie in head (theme) late, no 50! Cox took Petracca legs out, trying to injure him!

Ideal backup for Max if Grundy goes, at less than half the price!

GAMEDAY: QF vs Collingwood
Yes, but due to jet lag! However, Demons seem to have timed their run this year as formline overvlast 8 week’s excellent! Pies wobbling, looking forward to Demons bringing four quarters of finals pressure, and moving onto Prelim final! TMac also got his prep just right and just in time, would love to see him snag a few! Demons by 21!

Demons great Depth
Every team has issues with depth. There are some players incredibly difficult or can’t be replaced, nor multiple players for a position e.g. Bbb, TMac and Petty - I’m sure FD would have thought one of those players would have filled a key forward position! Also hope that Grundy/Max would add to forward line. Grundy has covered for Max, and Schache back up to Grundy! Someone has to replace Grundy as backup for Max if they trade him!!

NON-MFC: Rd 23 2023
If we end up playing Brisbane at the Gabba, even if we lose, there is 2nd chance. Better than needing to play them at the Gabba in a prelim final. Assuming we win the next two weeks, no injuries and reasonable form and hopefully Fritsch gets back okay, I think we stack up well against other top 4! Pies wobbling, Port also wobbled, and Lions losing that game to us at the ‘G’ plus Ashcroft out will hurt them. Next time we play Lions, we have Oliver and Fritsch in, Petty out who was injured most of that Lions game! They have Ashcroft out!

The Run Home
Lets win this week - lock in top 4! While beating Hawks, stay injury free! Against Swans - injury free! Then hopefully we go into finals in pretty good physical shape, our stars have definitely been better managed re more rotations etc. this season! Demons ready to roll in finals a chance every week, as excluding Bombers game average losing margin under 10 points, so we can beat anyone!! Fritsch coming back will make a big difference, add 2 goals a week to our forward line!!

GAMEDAY: Rd 22 vs Carlton
A win by any amount is good, 30 plus would be great, and no injuries! Hoping to see Grundy play well, kick a goal and be a great support to Max. I compare the teams and feel we should have the covered in the middle, down back and forward! Curnow, Weitering and Cripps are guns, but they are missing a few and we should bat deeper. Go Demons!!

The Run Home
Well thanks for all the effort you put in, adds to my enjoyment first and understanding second of how the Demons play!

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Carlton is playing well and have some excellent players, there is no denying that fact! I think our midfield will be too strong. Gawn, Viney as the leaders, Oliver coming back! Our backline is strong, it’s a premiership winning backline, and our forwards are coming back into form, particularly small forwards Kossie, Chandler and Trac playing forward. I have more faith in our proven 2021 premiership players and team coming into form, than your belief in Carlton!
