I’m looking forward to seeing Lynden Dunn try and run with TMac or Hoges today!!
  2. Agree, we need to give him a number of games, to settle in. Levers first 3-4 were ordinary, but last 3-4 were very good and it appears he really helped with leadership and structure down back. Best of luck to Joel Smith, may he be part of a grand win for the Demons today!!

We have improved so much from last year and the Hawthorn game this year. Last week we started really slowly, and looked sluggish after the Alice Springs six day break. Dogs jumped us, got three in front and without playing that well, we still won by over eight goals. You can see the confidence and belief in the players and they will keep getting better. The rest of the competition still really don’t rate the Demons but the comparison with Geelong of 2007 is a great one. A little bit of luck and we can become the team of the next decade, starting now! A simple example of us being underated is AA discussions, Ben Brown selected over Hogan is a joke, Brown has kicked 3-4 more goals than Hogan, but Hogan would have 10 plus goal assists and spends time in the middle. Similar argument for Jetta. It would be terrific to bring our best from the opening bounce and absolutely [censored] the Pies! Still, while I’m envisioning a five goal plus win, will gladly take a win and move into second! Go Dees, pump those Pies!
  5. Great post, in the late 70’s and early 80’s watching Robbie weave his magic was almost the only reason for going to watch the Demons. I still recall him kicking five against the Pies and he really did almost mesmerise his opponents, an absolute joy to watch. It was a pity we didn’t have better teams, as when you got to see him playing state football for the big V his sublime skills would really shine! I had the pleasure to meet him at a private function for eight demon supporters at a mates place 7-8 years back, he was incredibly humble, good bloke, he explained the joy of being a one club player, the 87 prelim loss and his love of the Demons, it was a memorable night.

  7. 6 Jetta 5 Hogan 4 TMac 3 Brayshaw 2 Fritsch 1 Oliver
  8. The last five weeks and in particular the last two have been terrific. Confidence is growing in the players, Sunday was a joy to watch. Brayshaw, Petracca, ANB, Harmes, Fritsch, OMac, Spargo, Hannan, Smith, Salem(even if Sunday wasn’t his best game) you can see the guys believing. If Jetta, Hibberd, Lever, Viney, Oliver, Gawn, Hogan, TMac, Melksham, keep up current form they will be pushing for AA selection. Jones, Lewis, and Bernie showing their experience and they just know what to do! On Sunday we just looked like a top team, classic ball movement, highly skilled, tough, totally destroyed the Crows who had got to 6-3 win lose record with those players. I don’t care what anyway thinks or says, I’m just enjoying the ride and hope we keep going!! It feels like we are made of the right stuff. I left out deliriously happy watching the Demons at the moment. Can’t wait for Saturday!
  9. The press like to talk up the Pies! They beat Adelaide easily! Demons beat them by 10 goals more!!
  10. Thanks to all the contributors who went to the game, and provided commentary and player summaries. Provides a really good feeling as to depth and the future. Even though Pedodidnt play yesterday, he seems to be the standout at Casey. Stretch looks very uncertain at AFL level, seems like he is improving for Casey. Is he quick and could he be that outside runner for the ones?

Our Demons have been improving and building in confidence over the last four weeks, delivering four great wins and a very good percentage boost. While many want to say, who did we beat, I compare our efforts to how other teams went against them, Cats straight kicking got them a 28 point win over Blues, we had the biggest win over the Suns this year, Essendon have won their last two and even the Saints took it up to the Tigers for 3 quarter. When you go through the Demons line by line, we have class spread across the team, and a lot are still improving in Hogan, Oliver, OMac, Brayshaw, Petracca, Frischt and then add Gawn, Hibberd, Viney, TMac, Melksham, Jetta. Garlett, Hunt, Tyson, Bugg all can’t get a game. When Demons win today, people will finally see how much talent, ability and the right commitment, our team is bringing in 2018!

Four wins in a row, unchanged team, the suns out, it’s just grand to be a Demon!!
  13. Obviously post concussion Hunt!
  14. Hunt Hasn’t been the same since he concussed himself against Crows last year!

Great game today and on top of his five, he was involved in many more and looked for players in better position. Forward line is really starting to function as a team. TMac has made a big difference.
  16. Umpire trying to even up the qtr time score!

Actually it will be good for the Demons. It will stop them getting ahead of themselves. Demon supporters can see with TMac back, Lever settling into the defence, Brayshaw starting to really play again, Max back fit, Hogan back fit, improvement in OMac and others building confidence, we are a much better team than last year. A win against the Crows next week, will have us on the map!!

Bernie stays on for Crows and that hit on Thomas is a bit of what he brings every week, and every really good team always has a few tough players.

After 109 point win, and I’m still grinning, normally wouldn’t make any changes, but I would give Spargo a rest next week and bring in Garlett. Spargo has been going really well and is very competitive but looked a little tired today in the 2nd half.

The press this week: Demons have only beaten Essendon, St Kilda, Gold Coast and Carlton who are all no good! Still doesn’t hurt the Demons to stay under the radar. Win against Brisbane in Brisbane looking better & better!
  22. 6. Melksham 5. TMac 4. Lever 3. Jones 2. ANB 1. Brayshaw
  23. After the Richmond loss, if you were given six goal wins against the Bombers and Saints, and a 11 goal win vs the Suns would you be happy with those results? I think the answer is Yes! Enjoy the wins, we’ve had more than our fair share of losses in the last ten years. Lets get another strong win against the Blues next week and then see how we go against some better teams.
  24. I don’t care who will be best, as long as they are all premiership players for the Dees!!
  25. Garlett averages 1.8 goals per match vs Betts 1.9. He has the odd bad game, tell me a small forward who doesn’t, but has delivered approx 40 goals a season for the Demons. He is in my top 22. I really like Hunts speed but he has lost some of his mojo, and his kicking needs to improve. A stint in the VFL to focus on improving his kicking, will hopefully help. Then he would be deserving his spot in the 22. Hannan does some nice things, just needs to do them more often on a week to week basis. ANB just seems out of form, when Viney comes back, unless ANB does very well this week, I’d give him 3-4 weeks in VFL to find his form. I’m really enjoying watch Fritsch play, highly skilled and a great decision maker. Spargo has also been lively and seems to have “a good footy brain”, just automatically does the right thing.
