  1. Stevie & ump 34 were both poor! A few changes I would like to see from AFL on totally different topics: - change 50m distance to 30m as penalty - umpires be consistent re talking back on frees, at moment it’s a joke - allow fans to turn up to ground and get ticket, sit with as many mates as you like, vs …. Ticketek which is a pain in the ring! (I particularly feel bad for older people who struggle with technology)
  2. Enjoying watching all the goals, but noticed: Weid kicks one, solid assist in another, dropped three marks he should take. TMac kicks one, directly assists two. Generally TMac does more heavy lifting than Weid! Leaning towards TMac re structure and impact, but wouldn’t might seeing Weid have a crack at CHF! Both are well behind BBB!
  3. Watching on replay, was a shocker! 2nd qtr Coniglio free and fifty, and Hogan free where Petty punches ball only we’re very ordinary. Still ignore the umpires! Demons were electric in the third, just so fast and connected, the ball movement is fantastic. After just over 50 years of significant misery, this team is playing terrific football!
  4. Without Martin they wouldn’t have made finals in 2017! GWS year they win, still amazing the Pies lost Pf to GWS in 2019! No Dusty cats win 2020 flag!
  5. I’m one of those away this weekend, who would have been at the G! The only thing worse than crap 50 metre penalties is the bloody ticketing process. Rock up and walk in is how it should be!!
  6. Smith has the following to me: Pros: - can play tall or small - very athletic - quick for his size Cons: - lacking in football nous and gets caught out of position, he hasn’t played a lot of football but you can see he is improving. Compare him to Bowey at 10 games! - gets injured too often, unfortunately He is definitely rated by FD and provides flexibility off bench or as 23 man. I look back at Lions game in finals and Charlie C pantsed him, but Cameron is a very good player, Smith seemed out of position on a few of the goals. Im okay if he is in the team, but prefer May, Lever, Petty & Tomlinson as talls, and Salem, Bowey, Rivers, Hibberd, Hunt as smalls!
  7. Petty combined perfectly with Lever & May as last season went on, particularly the finals. Tomo still very good, just seems to be moving a little slower off the back off his knee surgery/recovery!
  8. Agree, frustrating to watch Max dominate hitouts but clearance figures don’t match. Max marking and movement around ground terrific, but I feel Ryder & Naitanui both better tapping to teams advantage. I feel his tap work was better 4-5 years back when he had a great connection with Viney & at times Brayshaw.
  9. Spot on. After a lot of ordinary years, enjoying every win is the way to go. And for fun mercilessly picking on Tigers/Hawks/Bombers/Pies/Blues/Cats fans is great after putting up with their arrogance too many times over the last 50 years! Last years prelim final was gold! Also keep fingers crossed on the injury front! Go Demons!
  10. Thanks for your insights and commitment, adds an extra layer to my enjoyment on Demonland and in following the Demons! Congrats to you, George and Andy on the podcasts, always informative.
  11. Agree, no Toby Greene, no training loads, and no Mummy who definitely made Giants walk taller! Be interesting to see Pruess against Max, followed by Jackson! Expecting a solid 5 goal win - even though would love to see a big win, but hard to argue with Demon game philosophy after last years ultimate success! Go Demons!
  12. I like seeing someone dominate in the VFL as the there is a big difference between it and the AFL. ANB dominated at VFL level but took another 3 years to be comfortable at AFL level. Or a point of difference re skill, intensity, vision, running power, or just knack of getting the ball. Bowey as stated above kicking skills, etc. Brown is in a different category, already proven at AFL over many years, just has to show his fitness!
  13. BBB worst AFL season has been better than Weids best. If BBB is fit, FD will bring him in. Only other change will be Smith if Rivers not quite right. Goodwin doesn’t make many changes to winning teams.
  14. Thanks, I hadn’t watched this video! Just brings back the electric play and still makes my spine tingle. Our start to the season hopefully can lead to a replay of the above, with one difference, winning at the G! 😃
  15. Reality of AFLW is it has just passed amateur stage, give it 10-12 years and if it is professional at that time, the standard will improve significantly. Being semi professional is why Crows have such a huge advantage as a one team football town. As previously posted they lose Philips and 1-2 of their other better players, don’t have a virtual monopoly on SA talent next year and they become beatable! Still hats of this year, they were the best team.
  16. If BBB doesn’t mark, he typically makes sure his opponent doesn’t and brings it to the ground. He is also covering a lot of ground. Weideman needs to lift his overall competitiveness so that he stays in the game. I wouldn’t mind seeing him have a crack at CHF for a few weeks.
  17. Congrats to SA state team, too strong. Good effort from Demon girls.
  18. Harris has 3-4 Crows on her every time ball goes forward, where are the 2-3 free Demons. Someone lead left, right, short or out the back! Crows stronger, but if Demons can be a bit smarter going forward they might get lucky.
  19. More like vs SA state team. Go girls, get the ball out of the packs and run like the wind & kick straight! Would be a huge win against all odds! Go Demons!!
  20. Rivers looks injured, so I would bring in Smith. BBB back in and either one of Weid or TMac out. TMac obviously must do the structure role required of him hitting packs and running plus kicked a goal last night. Weid not much last night but 4 last week. FD will know who provides more value for now, or perhaps may look to the future and give Weid 4-5 games! Goody makes minimal changes, and to a team that let through one goal with about 10 mins to go, will only bring in BBB and any other change will be for injury or Covid protocol!
  21. After 50 plus years as a Demons supporter, even remembering our 2021flag, you should enjoy every win!! 10 goals to one with not long to go, mildly annoying seeing Power kick last 3! How many times have you seen our Demons go to Adelaide and never look like losing, and win by 32 points easing down the straight! Great to see Maxy back to his best, Langdon & Jordan running on the wings, the Jordan smother/touch, and May rock solid. playing measured footy at 4-0 what a terrific start to the season. Yes, we will have to lift a cog or two for big games and finals, but putting ourselves in a perfect position early in the season for a top four and hopefully to 2 finish. We know we can lift and have those extra gears, it’s up to other teams to try catch and pass us. Our team defence is elite! Looking like another season to enjoy a lot of wins and finals!! Go Demons!!
  22. Daisy - articulate, thoughtful, intelligent & insightful. BT - loud, excitable & inaccurate!
  23. In the finals we absolutely smashed Lions, Cats, Dogs, but to start the season and during last season we had a lot of wins 20-30 points, almost holding the opposition rather than putting them away. Why the difference in approach?
  24. Agree with your comments. The other thing on Demonland is a number expect consistent stats/goals each week - e.g. Fritsch only had one goal 6-7 possessions drop him, next week he kicks 5 goals from 6-7 possessions great game. Very few forwards have a consistent output week to week, as long as they are doing most of the right things FD stick with them and we see the results. Look at Bowey last week against Suns, 30 plus possessions, but as Goodwin stated, he played the same way the week before and things went his way last week.
  25. Mithen plays for frees, but as you say above, Davidson twice her size, put UFC move on her and no free or report. After KKJ in press during the week that no report for rugby tackle was pathetic!! HTB is shocking, out in play take two steps get grabbed ball spills out, your done! However try and take on a few players around or through a pack, get tackled just drop ball or one handed throw like Lions in girls or Dogs in AFL, nothing to see here. Definitely most annoying interpretation. Other one for me is seeing player push someone out of marking contest while ball is 20 metres away and just waved on. Umpiring incredibly tough job, as only see a bit over half the action/vision, but the above and frees in the ruck drive me nuts!
