Some common sense at last! For the woke amongst us look away! After looking at Demonland this morning I was ready to go get the razor blades!!

One thing to learn from Mcfly & his Pies is get players to play as a team but also get players to play to their strengths. BBB is playing more like he used to pre Demons and is getting way better results, rather than as a pack breaker. The odd forward pocket ruck involvement is okay, but I would still rather see him near the goal square than any rucking. JVR has been playing back up ruck in VFL so let him do it! Great to see Hibberd back he should go straight to Papley. Demons should be going out to give a message, not at full strength obviously with Maxy, Kossie and Salem out, but Viney & Fritter both better for the run! Tackling, desperation, pressure required all day if we want to turn the tide against the Swans!! Go Demons!

Just a shocker of a night with the last 12 mins helping our percentage. Hard to find good players and Harmes, Melksham and Petty very poor. Only round 2, Max back in 6-8, so try not read too much into an off night!

Take May Pickett Salem Max equivalent out of Collingwood then compare!

Agree too much hype - trying to follow Gridiron, when AFL footy the game stands on its own! Went to Super Bowl recently great experience but 4.5 hours duration, 60 mins game of which ball only in play for 11-12 minutes of 4.5 hours, so needs a lot of gift wrapping and BS noise, to make it an event. AFL under 3 hours, game typically 120 mins, ball in play 80 mins, we don’t need all the BS! AFL best sport to watch by a country mile!

Salem is a Thyroid issue, so that leaves three. Fritsch had someone land on his foot, could happen anytime! May 30 plus a calf issue, common for older players! Slight over reaction to our injuries!

BT is the worst!

It is unbelievable how few free kicks Max gets for hits in the head and chopping of the arms. Never ceases to amaze me. Many AFL non suspensions open them up to legal action.

Last year struggled against fast ball use prior to getting set up in defence and small/mid sized forwards hurt us. We’re better suited defending tall forwards, so feel pretty good about Dogs with no weightman

Hunter just may be great this year!!

JJ is looking promising Hunter won a B&F yes I know 5/6 years ago but Hunter been there done that, hopefully JJ gets to that standard! We overrate our own, particularly those who have never done it at AFL! I’m not referring to JJ in particular!

Pies played last year with nothing to lose approach, soft draw, and some luck with close games. Daicos junior improves, but Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Elliott closer to the end! I think they make the eight, but wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t! Cats playing list no worse, enough home games, they make top 4. Swans hard to call but we’ll coached and make to eight for me. Lions list looks better, top 8 for me. Pies as above on the edge!! Demons list improved make 8 should be top 4. Freo list looks weaker, also Jackson big money may create angst, so are on the edge! Dogs list looks weaker Dunkley, Hunter out, Jones in will help backline, Darcy, Ugle both improve. Right on edge! Tigers look better with Hopper & Taranto providing cover for Prestia and Martin fitter, makes them look better, make 8 push for top 4! so Pies, Freo & Dogs vulnerable! Contenders: - Blues have star power Cripps, Walsh, Curnow, McKay & Weitering, small forwards weakness, but will go close. I’d go finally make 8! - Gold Coast lose Rankine, but will go very close if King back & fit! -Port with a bit of luck make the 8! - Saints no King, don’t make it, also Ryder a lose! - Hawks bottom after cutting too hard! - North will improve but bottom 4. - West Coast will improve but 13-18 - Crows 12-16 - Bombers finish 10-14 will take time to learn to defend! - GWS list looks weaker losing Hopper, Taranto & Braun, seems like 13-18 place! Bit of fun to guess how it turns out, but always a few surprises on the ups & downs, as long as our Demons are top 4 that’s the key result!

Is AFL finally moving towards the round ball football approach where a player is recruited as left or right side specific! Example being at Celtic where Postecoglou recruited a right back specialist from Canada - Johnstone to replace Juranovic who they sold!
