A new dawn for the Demons - our 2025 squad
Docs Demons replied to ElDiablo14's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really don't care who we get rid of. All I want to see is we look for some young kids that can run quick and have SKILLS, SKILLS and more SKILLS. Our current youngsters still have time on their side to improve their skills but maybe, JUST maybe we need to look at Chocco. Everyone throws grenades at Goody and Stafford, but I don't think any or to many have had a go at Williams as head of development. I have not seen any improvement in our current crop of youngsters other than maybe Windsor who I believe is coming along well. The others appear slow and turn the ball over as soon as pressure is applied and also panic due to perceived pressure. You can't improve the skills of the likes of Viney, Clarry etc. but I would love to see some development and improvement by the others in running and actually using the footy when clear or under pressure. IMO that is on Williams. -
The only difference between us and the Pies is that their kids have skills and can run quick. Ours are plodders with limited skills. Agree though Layzie we need to play the kids like AMW and Kolt to give them experience for next season. Lack of decent depth means that some who should be dropped will stay in.

Don't blame the backs. I's our normal turnover merchants doing the damage. You would think there is a jumper clash seeing most times we get the ball we kick or handball to a black and white jumper. Clarry needs to look, look and look instead of dump kicks. To finish off we again have no forwards. Fritta missing other than 2 turnovers early and I have no idea why Turner and Chandler are playing. The odd times they get the pill it's also given back. This is not a good look and if the Pies had their full team like us (except Lever) we would be 15 goals down by now. Long back end of season coming up guys unless a miracle happens in the 2nd half.
-
Bloody hope so. We need him to get back into some form and tomorrow may well be the day.
-
Sorry rpfc but I beg to differ a bit here. Maybe not 15 goals but maybe 10. Way back in 21 our midfield was young, quick and damaging plus the X factor in Jacko. Whilst they are still Ok other teams with young guns like Freo are just running past our guys and making our guys look slow and silly. Look at who went through their midfield today. Brayshaw, Serong, Jacko, Darcy, Clark (mainly Def but wandered through the mid), Fyfe (not so young), O'Meara, Sharp, Switkowski & Young. Have a VERY close look at these guys compared to what we dished up today. Chalk and Cheese.

On today's performance no way am I dropping Tomlinson. He at least had a go, and his disposal is OK. I would be getting rid of Fritta, Windsor, Rivers, Petty, Salem, Bowey, Sparrow, Chandler, Hunter & McAdam before Tomo. Not one of them turned up and had a go and when they did get the pill just gave it back. Most will stay in the side because as many have said there is not any replacements. This is a huge problem as players in the one's know they will stay even with ordinary efforts. As we have nobody banging the door down, I would have JVR for Petty with Woey for Hunter and hope to hell the others get their stuff together or else this season is going downhill.

Your Mum taught you well !
-
What hope have you got when we do not have a forward. Fritta runs away from the ball. Would not have a bruise on him. Turner hasn't touched it but has a goal. For Freo. Petty is ordinary at moment. McAdam. Is he playing. Then you throw in our skill level by Rivers, Sparrow and Salem and lack of endeavor from Windsor and Huinter all adds up to us being a middle-ranged side. Long season ahead demonlanders.

Agree still a way to go however he did get 124 SC points yesterday, so he stays in. No way we drop Clarry. A dominant game is coming up.
-
We seemed very lethargic all over the ground and just had no run. Just hope it was a once off and we get back a bit of a spark against the Saints. What really concerns me though is we seem to be a team of plodders like a Melb Cup field with no Blue Diamond runners. Other than Kozzie we just have no X factor and speed to break lines. AND the worst thing about yesterday was, after the Port fluke win, I had all of my tips correct and said to the other half how's good is this I'm going to get a clean sweep. My Demons changed that !!. Only 8 correct.

Long way to go folks. Weagles exposed us big time particularly in the guts. Back line held up Ok I thought but we were thrashed in the middle which does not help the backs and of course we have no forwards. Nothing at Casey to get excited about so we need to stay as is and hope the Mids in particularly lift. I'm with most and BBB needs to retire. Great bloke but just can't play anymore. Would say there is a few others in this boat but I'm hoping they can improve whereas BBB is finished. And we are killing Max. he struggled in this game and shows signs of falling apart. Big call but we need to rest him next week, back for next couple then the bye. If he plays, I'm having Marshall as my Captain in SC.
-
Gee that must have lost us the game. Get over it will you!!
-
That's fine but they have Mills and Parker to get back into that team. Both would be certain starters for us. They are seriously scary at the moment.
-
Maybe but I hope not. Having TMac, BBB and Petty in Forward line will not help us ONLY if they mark the pill each time as if it goes to ground all 3 are not the fastest or best ground ball players. Would need the smalls to be at their best.
-
From WCW training report McAdam has another week in the two's, with Fullarton apparently also injured and both JVR and Disco out I would give the young Verrell a run to give Max a hand plus BBB to play forward with Petty.
-
I'm flat today but very proud of the team for hanging in there and nearly pinching it. Many years ago, after 6 goals to zip we would have lost by 100 points. Bloody great effort with most of our forwards being in the bottom performers of the team. Trac excepted but to lose by a point and having no or little impact from Kozzie, Chandler, Fritta and JVR, in my mind tells me we are a very, very good team. Forwards will click one day. I hope!!
-
Maybe the big fella when taking a mark 20M out should go back further than BBB and kick it from beyond the 50M arc. Think this is allowed as long as he goes back in a straight line. Then run on the angle and put it through.
-
Completely agree. Mids have been down a bit last couple of games and need to lift back to their normal levels. Gawn will monster Stanley and it is up to Viney, Tracc and Clarry to follow suit and we will win this comfortably.
-
Agree both Robbie and also Wilson would not have played in the GF. A good mate of mine who was the fitness guru then and unfortunately has passed got myself and son into rooms after game. It was a very sad sight. Both us and hawks were banged up and it was always Carlton's GF.
-
Great news for Kolt, the team and us the members. Fantastic to have 2, 18 year olds in thursdays team and to also be 4 and 1 (soon to be 5/1). The FD need to be congratulated in finding these kids that can get into a top four side. Plenty of upside for us going forward.

I'm going against a few on here and back May in if he is good to go. Can't take the Crows lightly and we need to bank these early wins. Whilst a 5 day break the guys have tomorrow and Wedns to get themselves up plus Crows only on a 6 day break and flew back from Perth whilst we settled back into the hotel after the great win against Port. Pick all players that are available, get the win and have a full week for the Lions then the bye.
-
At this stage PF but let's give him some time.
-
With ya on being hopeful he stays but if it's the Crows then they will be coughing up heaps in salary for him and I trust 1st round picks for us.
-
Agree. Also whilst, IMO Petty is a good player he is not great and worth the farm just yet. Suss to injuries and it's better to have players that want to play for you than not and wanting to go home. If he goes and the Crows give us the farm then so be it and we go and top up where required, like a ruck, key forward and maybe a key back to cover May & Lever. It is what it is and let's all hope he helps to bring us a flag this year.

Is the Casey Praccy game today? Trust we wil get reports if/when it is on. Cheers
